Best time to register for WSOP Main Event
Here is a little probing in to best way to register for WSOP Main Event on the basis of available stats.
In 2025 first 3 flights combined had total of 3697 entrants.
Out of 3697 , 2682 survived to move forward to day 2 ! (72.5%),
& 1015 were knocked out (27.5%).
Out of 2682 who survived, 1005 participants had less than 60k ( starting stack).
That means only 1677 of starting 3697 player had over starting chips !!
( which is only 45% of all staring player had above stating chips.
Here is rundown:
1,:
Total started ……..3697.
Survived*. ……… 2682. (72.5%)
Knocked out……….1015. (27.5%).
2,:
Survived*
with above starting Stack. 1677 (approx 45%)
With below starting Stack. 1005 (approx 27.5%)
Did not survive. 1015 (approx 27.5%).
Now here is the critical question.
1,Would you buy on day 2 with 60k stack .
or
2, buy on day 1 & take your chances with:
{A}Either survive with above starting stack (45%)
{B}survive with below starting stack (27.5%)
{C}Knocked out on day 1. (27.5%)
I am a dreamer, will buy on day 1 before the start .
What are your thoughts?

If you've never played the Main before, do yourself a favor and be there for the start of Day 1. It's exciting, and it's the only time you're ever going to start a tournament with 300 big blinds and and two hours to play before they go up.
Having had my first time experience already, I don't think I'd have any problem registering at any time during Day 1 or before the start of Day 2. 60BB deep is a fine stack to work with, and yes you'd still be in the middle of the field. I don't think I'd plan on doing that though, I'd do it if that's all I could manage. For example, if I have something going on for the 4th of July that I can't miss, I'd still be fine flying down on 7/5 and jumping into Flight 1D when I arrive, or starting 2ABC the next morning.
But if I can make Day 1, I'm going to. Sure, it's a survival game, and you can guarantee you don't run into a wicked cooler in the early levels by skipping them entirely. But you're trading that off against an opportunity to be the beneficiary of mistakes by some of the worst players who won't be lasting too long.

Next year if I play Main , it will be my 3rd ME.
Though I played WSOP (Smaller buy-In $300 to $1500) every year since 2006.
