Retired Poker Tour

Winding down my paying job career at the end of 2026
A big part of the retirment plan is travel around in a camper Van and dabble in the mid-stakes poker circuit.
Thinking $600 average buyins in the Western US (CA, NV, AZ, WA, OR, CO etc)

Any favorite venues I should put in the rotation?

Talking Stick in Scottsdale AZ but typical buy in is more like $300 to $500 for week end tournaments. Occasional bigger tournament like the MPST at $1100 that started today.

Some that are worth considering:

MSPT or whatever's running in Black Hawk, CO

WSOP Circuit in Lake Tahoe

The Pendleton poker roundup in Pendleton, Oregon

The series they run at the Peppermill in Reno, NV

I've never made it up there but there is a series in Deadwood, South Dakota that I was always curious about. I imagine it being like playing in the old West. Deadwood is where Wild Bill Hickock was shot while holding the dead man's hand (aces and eights).

Obviously there are a ton of amazing series in Vegas, and California has quite a bit to offer as well, but this list has some more out of the way venues. Be sure to research for attractions and natural wonders in the areas you're traveling! Have fun!

Also there's another casino on the Oregon coast that I never went to, but I heard it was beautiful and they run some series.

Chinook Winds in Lincoln City, Oregon. They do 3 festivals a year with buy-ins in that range. I haven't been but know a few people who go down regularly and love it. The Oregon coast is beautiful, so it'd be the perfect combo of RV road tripping and poker.

In WA, the only thing going is the Little Creek Casino in Shelton, which does a short festival 2 or 3 times per year. Again, I haven't been personally, but know several players who've said good things about it.

Unfortunately there's nothing like this in the Seattle area. Little Creek, Lincoln City, and Pendleton are the closest festivals for us after the bigger tribal casinos in the area shuttered their poker rooms a few years back.

That's the place! Yeah I never went, but I've been to the Oregon coast and it's so beautiful it's well worth going just for the nature.

It's too bad they don't have any series in the Seattle area. Muckleshoot casino used to have a fun series, but as you said they closed their poker room.
