I was hoping someone could tell me where they would prefer to be staying for a week of so in the middle of June during the WSOP. ?

Thanks.

You'll get a lot of different answers. Some will say go with Horseshoe or Paris for the convenience of being on-site. Personally, I wouldn't pay more than a 5% premium for that benefit though. Unless you have mobility issues, I just don't think there's a lot of added value in having a room in the same venue as the WSOP. Typical tournament breaks are too short to permit you to go to your room, and there are numerous food options within walking distance of the WSOP for dinner breaks. To me, a room for the WSOP is just a place to crash at the end of the night, so proximity to the tables is not my first priority.

Assuming the prices are higher at Paris and Horseshoe, I would recommend a central option like PH, Flamingo, LINQ, or Harrah's. These hotels are not going to wow you with amazing quality or amenities, but they are cheap, perfectly safe/comfortable, and offer relatively easy walking access to Aria, WSOP, Venetian, Wynn, and RW. You won't be staying at the WSOP itself, but you'll be in close proximity to all the big summer tournament series, including the WSOP.

If money is no object to you, maybe go with Bellagio or Venetian for the same reason. They are nice venues in the center of the strip.

100% worth getting a room at HS or Paris if you have Diamond status and get it comped and/or no resort fees or parking fees.

It’s easy to go to the room on dinner breaks, lay down, take a shower to refresh, and just chill knowing you don’t have to race back.

The shorter 15-20 minute breaks can be worth going to the room if you’re staying at HS and playing on HS side or something. But if you’re playing Paris side and staying at HS or vice versa, 15-20 minutes isn’t enough.

But no matter what, it’s definitely worth it for dinner breaks and not feeling rushed/stressed at the start of the day. Not to mention getting onto your room earlier at the end of the day to get some much needed sleep.

I welcome other opinions and I don't think there's an objectively correct answer, but I'll reiterate that I don't think staying on-site has to be a priority. Ellis Island, LINQ, Flamingo, Harrah's, PH, and Bellagio are all very short walks to the WSOP. Any one of them can work for you. I actually booked 8 nights at LINQ after I made my post. I know that's going to work fine for me if I end up sticking with it. Other people might have different needs that push them in another direction.

A big variable to consider is whether you want to play other venues. When I'm in town for the WSOP, I don't exclusively play WSOP. I will play tournaments all over the strip. Harrah's is good in that sense since it's closer to Venetian, Wynn, and RW, yet still walkable to WSOP. If you strictly plan to play WSOP and WSOP only, there's more value in staying on-site than if you plan to play other venues.

I will say that things have changed a lot from the Rio days. Back then you really had Palms, Gold Coast, and Rio as the only options if you wanted to walk to the WSOP. Realistically, anything else would require car and/or ride share. Since the WSOP moved to the strip, I feel there's a lot less urgency to book on-site. Most of the Caesar's properties are very close to Horseshoe/Paris. Close enough that they don't add much time to your "commute".

I agree with Dr. Meh for the reasons he states below. Also, if you bag a tournament at the WSOP, it's nice not to have to travel too far at the end of a long day, and you will hopefully get more sleep with the savings on whatever travel you would have had otherwise.

But as DogFace says, there's no correct answer and it depends on one's preferences. His point about being closer to other venues for non-WSOP events is definitely valid.

I have to disagree wrt dinner breaks. It's a madhouse during dinner break if it's a big event. If I had a Parishoe room I would plan ahead and get a sandwich and keep it in the refrigerator. No fighting mobs at the restaurants.

That's exactly what I do. I get a Subway tuna sub in the morning before the action starts and put it in my room 'fridge. I generally consume protein bars/snacks to tide me over between breakfast and 'dinner' in my room.

My go-to WSOP dinner break move is walking to PH and hitting Earl of Sandwich or the Chipotle in the mall.

Always enough time to get there, eat, and get back.

Apparently there’s a new food court across from Chipotle. Will check it out in a couple weeks.

How about now ?????

Yeah, I am definitely starting to think about it. I've had decent results locally. Last year I tilted off my one bullet stack very early in the Monster Stack and never felt worse in my life. Seems like half the time I leave the WSOP vowing never to return but I always do.

I know it's early !!!

I didn’t see this thread!

On the clear thinking, I am coming back from the most painful experience from the hospital. I had a quadruple heart surgery on 5th .( The day you started the thread , No wonder I didn’t see it !!).
It will be long 2 months ahead of me before I act normal. ( Driving, Traveling etc )
By February it will not be too early to think about 2025 WSOP..

This year I will be really looking forward to schedule pre announcements in January and actual announcements sometime in February!!
