Isle of Capri Casino Hotel Lake Charles (Westlake, LA)

Isle of Capri Casino Hotel Lake Charles (Westlake, LA)

This is probably the worst run poker room in the country, although I had high hopes for the new management after the old management was fired/jailed for conspiring to skim tens of thousands out of the weekly tournaments.

I'm playing PLO and I get hit by this rule:

Someone bets $400 into me on a Jc 9c 2h board and I have JJxx.

I say raise and slide $400 forward towards the pot and go to grab $1600 to raise the pot. The dealer says, "you can only raise the minimum. You can only raise $400."

"What? I can raise the pot..."

"No, you said raise and slid the call out first therefor you can only raise the minimum. I don't like the rule either but we have to enforce it. It's a new rule by the new management."

So I raise $400, he calls... the 6c rolls off on the turn and I'm forced to c/f to the PSB by the villain who got priced in with the NFD.

Then on top of that the chip runners can only run a maximum of $500. If you bust out, you have to go sit at the cage for 10 minutes waiting to get chips. You can't even play cash or exchange cash to another player for chips while waiting. It's a slap in the ****ing face.

There has to be SOME way of contacting corporate headquarters and explaining just how piss poor this poker room is run and getting these ****ing idiots replaced. I could get like 500 signatures easily.

Well to no surprise Horseshoe Westlake poker room closed last Sunday. Shame sense they could have dominated the area with some effort. Not because HS was great but because GN is so bad. Now GN doesn’t even have HS as competition

Sorry to hear of the Horseshoe closing.

But not really surprised as it seemed like it struggled from the get go.

Honestly I am not sure SWLA can even support two rooms (GN and Coushata currently) as long as SETX, particularly Houston, is (over) saturated with gray market poker rooms but definitely can’t support 3.

Even the rest of the casinos play is weak and over saturated. Again HS appears to be the weakest. I don’t know how the business is structured but I suspect CET would sell Westlake for a song. If it isn’t sold within X, if capital structure allows they could shut it down as that who,e casino is in real trouble
