Is hard rock Hollywood 1/2 beatable?
The rake is 10% 6+2
I've read discussions where people say that the promotional drop is neutral ev and in that case I was thinking that 6$ rake with a 100-300 buy in game should be beatable. Has anyone here won money over 500+ hours playing the 1/2 at hard rock Hollywood?

If you cant beat that game theres probably not a game in a casino you can beat. The rakes bad but its not horrible and that has to be the softest or one of the softest games in the world outside home games. Structures not that bad either. Only games inside the US I’ve played that seemed unbeatable were low stakes games in la because the buyins were so low and the rake was pretty high relative to how small the games were.
I also thought all Florida was 6+3 rake now?
Lol.

Presume you mean Los Angeles (L.A.) and not Louisiana (LA) since most LA buyins are either match stack or uncapped.

Ya Los Angeles when I lived there I think they had like a $40 buyin 1-2 game with $5+2 rake and they just take the rake they don’t do 10%. I’ve seen pots of $0 going to the flop. I think they used to take the sb in 5/5 and 5-10 if it’s chopped too or something weird I assume they do it at all stakes been a while can’t really remember well. All their games until 5-5 had crazy low buyins like 20bb-50bb and because it’s not 10% rake you are paying the same rake up until the time games seemed tough to win long term but idk maybe people do. I used to think it was the dumbest thing ever but now I see its appeal. It’s low stress/cost entertainment the goal isn’t to make money.

I think with a about a 1.2 BB cap it's certainly beatable in theory.
Some games I play at in Asia have a 2.5 BB cap, or even a 5 BB cap in Macau, to provide some context.
I don't know if the 50/100 in Macau is beatable, for example, but I saw pros playing there the last time I was in town. The cap there was 5 bb from what i recall, and the games were not that amazing.
They have been taking out 9 dollars (3 for the jackpot) in Hard Rock. Assuming that's neutral EV the games there are good enough IMO to be beatable.
Most U.S. poker rooms have decent rake structures. Europe and Asia i think it's not beatable in a lot of places.
Actually if was a 1/3 NL game, with a 9 dollar cap, that's a different situation. I'm not sure how those games play but it would be closer. But I think that's also beatable. Assuming the games are pretty good, especially if you're getting back some jackpot money on that (If it's 6 dollars with 3 being neutral EV)
Yes it's obviously beatable. These games are incredibly easy to beat - and if you cannot beat this game, you have a lot of work to do.
I'm assuming you are talking about the game in Florida? I played there 6 years ago and it was some of the softest games i've played.
I played the 1/2 for a bit while on the waitlist for the 2/5.
Obviously not all games are equal. If you game select, there are some juicy splashy ones during a tournament series at least
Yeah, I’ve played 1/2 there a fair bit. Honestly, it’s beatable if you’re solid post-flop and can handle the swings. The rake isn’t tiny, but with decent win-rate discipline and a strong game selection, \$100–300 buy-ins can make it work. Don’t expect it to be easy though, table selection is huge, and some regulars are tough. Over 500 hours, you *can* come out ahead, but you really need to avoid spewing and pick your spots.

I haven't been here in probably 10 years. Those games may still be great or they may be dust I have no idea. But 6 years is an eternity in the poker world. How they were 6 years ago is irrelevant.
If you play 1/2, live in that area, and the rake is high….there has to be 3-5 other 1/2 games within 15 miles that is more beatable. Not sure why anyone trying to play for profit would pick the high stakes hub of a major city and expect games to be more beatable than smaller venues charging less rake to attract players. It kinda indicates you may not be able to beat the games tbh
