Reno, NV / Lake Tahoe
Ive read some other threads on this and wanted to know the latest info on poker in Reno. Im planning to go this weekend and wanted to know where the best poker games are. And also poker tournaments if there are any good structures for them.
I want to play 1/2 NL, and tournaments upto around $100ish. Thanks
I was looking at Atlantis website and I saw the casino offers 3 dollars an hour in comps does anybody know what the rake structure is?
Also how many casinos in Reno have poker?
Thanks for all replies....
To put you, ChipsOmNom, on tilt, of course.
(Covid is over? You could have fooled me. When did it end? Why is my downstairs neighbor sick with it right now?)
Pandemic is over. COVID will never go away as it is now endemic. Otoh as many predicted the virus has mutated to a much less dangerous form. Generally now is an upper respiratory infection. For vast majority it presents as a bad head cold.
So yes COVID as a rationalization for single blind games is over.

They don't still have 6 handed games, do they?
If not, it is odd that they wouldn't have gone back to two blind games, which have to be better for action.
Peppermill is spreading a 1/2 dealer choice mixed game on Monday at 4pm. The hostess didn't know many details but it looks like the same menu of games the old Atlantis game used to have.
What’s the min/max buy in at the Peppermill 0/3 game? And does it actually ever run?
Are there any decent PLO games in Reno? I am in town for a few weeks. Buyins around 500-1000 is best for me.

Jaime hosted at Atlantis and moved to Peppermill. Never played mixed at Atlantis but I would assume itβs the same. Dramaha 49, Tahoe Pitch and Roll (usually with a third split for a Bangui), 5 card Omaha double board, 5 card Omaha reverse (3 in hand, 2 on board), Bloody River, etc. Pretty much any game you can imagine that isnβt straight holdβem.
Also a 4/8 limit game Wednesday at noon.
I will be at Harvey's South Lake Tahoe, playing their NLH next week Thursday and Friday nights.
When I was there back in October, I kept an eye on the games in Reno at Peppermill and Atlantis by looking at the online waitlists and calling and talking with the pokerr room staff. It didn't seem like there was a lot of action in Reno.
The games at Harveyβs were really slow, maybe 20 hands per hour being dealt. Very often there were 4-5 people seeing each flop. And people taking a lot of time to act, chatting, etc.

Sounds like a really good game. How much did you lose?
The only reason I stop at the Oaks on my way to Tahoe or Reno (or anywhere else) is to take cash out of my player's bank there.
I hope the new Cal Neva Lodge puts a poker table or two in their casino. Gotta bring poker back to North Lake Tahoe where the billionaires are.
Like the billionaires are going to want to play 1-3 NL or 4-8 LHE.
Harveys, in Stateline NV, is undergoing extensive renovations, and the poker room is completely closed. I do not have any information about when it will re-open
I called them yesterday. The guy in the pokerroom said they have already moved to their new location in the casino, and are up and running.
Harvey's in Lake Tahoe has been renamed to Caesar's Republic. They have also opened their new poker room, which is much nicer and more insulated away from the main casino floor, compared to before. I played there a few days last week, and they debuted their new chips (thank goodness!). Game quality varies quite a bit, and not surprisingly it is best late at night.
Came across a video today, uploaded just this week, but featuring an incident from September 2023 involving the AI facial recognition used at the Peppermill, and a dumb case of mistaken identity, where everyone involved insists "Artificial Intelligence never makes mistakes!" π
Poor Mr. Killinger.
Hopefully the Peppermill will settle out of court for eleventy buhjillion dollars. Poor guy.
