Let's talk about Stream and buy mountains of games
I thought we might like to have a Steam offers catch-all thread, and maybe even any general discussion about the service.
Like many of us here I have been using Steam since it first appeared with Half Life 2. Initially it seemed pointless and intrusive, but we put up with it because, well, we needed to play CS:S and HL2. Over the years I have found myself buying more and more from Steam and now I pretty much exclusively buy my games there. In fact Valve have so got their model sorted that I would pay a few dollars more for the ease of having it in my Steam collection rather than the hassle of hard copy install.
This is not really necessary though since these days if you wait around for offers you can end up owning more than you can ever play. I have Batman, Far Cry 2, Bioshock 2, Borderlands, Torchlight and much more just half played or not played at all. All of these have been purchased at a reduced rate.
Anyway rather than waffle on further the reason I started this thread is to point out
--->
Left 4 Dead was my game of 2008 but I had enough other stuff to play and was a bit pissed off that they released 2 so quickly afterwards that I didn't buy it at full price. Now I am immediately picking it up. Sadly for you hardened players you can expect a wave of n00bs to arrive due to this deal.
That is all, feel free to add any good Steam offers as and when they appear to this thread and also to discuss the Steam service in general.
Free half-life 2 for that one person that doesn't have it:
Available until Sunday.
I should play it again sometime. But I say that about like 10 games a month.
Anyone getting stuff in the sale? Lots of 80-90% off, which is price point I can afford!
Looking at getting Kingdom Come + DLC's and maybe Vermintide 2.
I bought Prince of Persia the list crown but haven't played yet.
Heard it's a very good Metroidvania
This really is a yuge sale. Virtually everything on my wishlist is discounted, and most by >50%.
Now I just have to justify buying more games when I still have so many I haven't played yet.
Winter sale was disappointing (as every sale has been since they started doing refunds) so I renewed my Game Pass-sub instead and tried out the new Indiana Jones game.
Game seems really good after a few hours, but the one thing that really stood out is the graphics. It's been so long since I started up a game and was really floored by graphics, but this game is beautiful and looks better than anything I've ever seen.
very tempted to buy civ 6 for $3 even though i know i'll have it (loved civ 1-4)
Nothing on my wishlist that crazy other than I might buy a copy of BoI Rebirth.
I am likely going to get a Steam deck though. Got rid of the Switch.
kingdom come is free today only on epic and while i'm not much of a gamer and don't know much of what else is out there, it seems like an interesting take on the rpg genre
KCD is an excellent choice
the sequel can't come soon enough
is Balatro+ on Apple Arcade same as Balatro? Without any spoilers please - is it worth to try it on Apple Arcade and then buy steam version in case I'd like to pursue some achievements etc? There's a free 3-month trial for Apple Arcade so...
I've held off on balatro but seems like it may be good game for on airplanes.
Yup its the same and worth buying wherever imo
Bought Shapez2, and Steep. Playing through Manifold Garden again. Also picked up the newish Sonic game.
I'm currently trying to get through some of the AC games. Right now I'm doing Odyssey. Afterwards I'll play Valhalla and possibly Unity and Mirage.
I bought Elden Ring and after almost 6 hours I'm still inches away from beating 3rd boss - jesus christ. I love it though. I had similar progress on this boss around 1,5 hours ago lol.
it's an open world, just explore and get stronger. On my first playthrough, I spent 30 hours in Limgrave before going to Stormveil Castle
Yeah I'm at around 10 hours trying to beat Godrick, should be faster than Margit, I love the game already, I can't comprehend it has 150 bosses or whatever the number is.
just beaten him with a summon but I think I'll go back to Limgrave now 😀
