NCAA Football 2023 Season Megathread
Figured I would get this thing started since a mod still hasn’t changed the title of the 2022 thread. Let’s just start o
Zone doesn't mean mesh (handoff or pull the ba) play. The "read" part of "zone read" is what makes it a mesh play
Reality is, you played tight man on 4th and 2 and had a LB covering a RB and had a log jam against trips. You played man against bunch trips. That's the problem of the game.
Here for the PAC12 going out in style with a national title.
weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Boom
Michigan DL might eat this Wash OL from first look.
Also want to reiterate. FSU puts up a dogfight against that Michigan team.
why in the world did he cut back to the right at the end on that reception?
That's why Michigan wants no part of Washington in my opinion. Other than elite DL play I don't know what Michigan does against any of this spread offense.
If that Guard gets under that slanting player, Milroe walks in untouched. 1 player blew that up.
Right. Success or failure of a play is a lot less based on "knowing" than executing
If it helps, pretend like the DL vaporized the Bama guard at the moment of the snap. Is it the wrong call if you were betting the other team wouldn't force your guard to vanish into another dimension?

I understand what he means though. It's an inside QB run. It's ugly. It's not pretty. There is no 2nd chance on a play like that(a bounce or cut). So I understand disliking the play.
If someone wants a 2nd option off the play, outside zone, counter, wham, ect, I'm all for it. I just wanted to see if pass is what we were thinking. I don't think passing was the right play. I think Milroe outside power is 100% the right call or at least counter. But counter there takes a while to develop.
I don't have a problem with disliking the call and hope I didn't come off that way. I was just curious as to what the other option people are thinking it should be. I'm just spitballin here is all.
This game is fun
Milroe was like a heat seeking missile right into the arms of the tackler
Defense clearly optional.
Offense is way more fun
I watched it a few times. Maybe some kind of jet motion may have widened the edge played but nothing there stops that 4i/3 technique. Maybe an off tackle run? You could have pulled up through. None of that really is what we saw all night though.
I know is going to sound weird but it wasn't the "best" call but it was the "right" call. You needed your OL to get off the ball there and just control inside gap. Instead that Michigan DL stepped up at the very moment it needed to. If
Great play by the edge or **** play by the guard? I assume you can guess my answer.
That's because my schedule dies down incredibly this time of year. Though I expect to be busy a little longer this year as I also am contracted out as a consultant for another program. Depends what their plan for me the next few weeks is will depend how busy I am.
Goal line stand discussion gives flashbacks to Seahawks Patriots, when it's hard to say Seachickens made a stupid call, if what they were betting on was that that DB from West Alabama wouldn't pull out a gun and murder the receiver at the snap
Also funny because the popular sentiment was "run even though everyone knows it's coming" instead of "don't run, because everyone knows it's coming"
Penix dropping it in the bucket
Penix picking the right moment for the game of his life
SRM/Needle, I can see saying it was a bad call because Bama guards and center have had trouble all year with anything like a reach block or anything with athletic slanting linemen. Basically, mobility issues. So maybe try to make a call where it's less likely you'll be asking your IOL to do that
