2023 Fantasy Football Thread
I know it's only May 10th, but since we are past the real life draft, each team's situation is starting to shape into solid form for this upcoming season.
I wanted to go ahead and kick this off as plenty of us are starting best ball and dynasty rookie drafts. I'm about to start firing into Underdog's Puppy contest. For now, I'll probably mostly be posting from a best ball and redraft perspective, at least until after I get through some of my rookie drafts since I am in leagues with other followers of the thread.
There are still questions like where will guys like Zeke and Fournette land? Will it even matter?
Can Lamar really throw for 6,000 yards?
Will everyone get burned by drafting all of the WRs early and letting quality RBs fall to the late 2nd and 3rd round?
Where should we be taking the top 5-7 QBs in 1QB leagues?
How early should Kelce go?
How much will top 100 pass catcher Garrett Wilson help Fraudgers?
Let the debates begin!
FantasyPros 1rst 2024 mock draft is out and they have Kyren at 11, so there is that. Of greater interest to me is LaPorta as TE1.
Would rather have Hockenson (assuming that he is back in time for the start of the season) or McBride than LaPorta. Maybe even Bowers dependent on landing spot. Sam's surprised me this season but I just think that level of targets is unsustainable, seems likely that Detroit drafts a WR or otherwise improves that position given they have basically nobody of note behind ARSB unless Jamo finally works the league out. Someone like Higgins signing as a free agent would be extremely sexy
Ultimately, I think he ends up in Cincy on the franchise tag, which might be worst case scenario because Tee would not like that. But I don't see how they let him just walk. An extension is also possible, but I think he's going to want too much, relative to the going rate for a #2.
3.06 is an interesting price and would be about my line. I'd prefer him in the 4th though. If he creeps up into the 2nd, I'll be out.
ADP will be a heavy driver in which TE I end up with. Comparing Andrews at 4.08 to LaPorta at 3.06 is interesting. If you remove the week where Andrews left early, he averaged 14.6 PPR points, which is exactly equal to the tied TE1s in Kelce/Hock. LaPorta was at 14.1. Andrews was an early to mid round 3 pick last year, so 4.08 seems a little too low when nothing has really changed, and his injury should not affect the start of the season.

Re: Hock, I worry about what he looks like the first half of the season, even if he's playing. And his splits with/without JJ are concerning. I'll be interested to see his price.
I am very interested to see where McBride settles. Arizona drafting MHJ or Nabers could drive down McBride's price a little, which would make me even more in.
The Cardinals can save $5.5 mil by cutting Conner.
Sounds like he probably won’t be going anywhere and will likely be a value at ADP.

Not bad. I love Cincinnati to have a huge bounce back year in '24. I'll be a buyer of that offense in redraft. There will be a lot of chatter about Higgins, Waddle, Smith (Addison?) and their ADP. Buy the dip I say.
Do you guys know when yahoo pays out for prize
Leagues ?
I'm surprised you haven't received the payouts yet. This link makes it sound like you should have received payouts last week.
I was thinking that also wondering if anyone else received payouts from yahoo?
Dynasty Bijan owners, we would hate a Hoodie hire in Atlanta, right?
Yahoo always takes forever. Got paid out about 30 minutes ago
I'm in one of these cumulative points postseason leagues. 16 teams and every player can be picked twice (by two different teams). 4 pt passing td, PPR.
I have the 4th pick. Torn between going with one of the big QBs who have a first round game (Allen, Mahomes, Hurts in that order) or McCaffery who I lose a first round game with. If I go McCaffery I'm probably getting a dodoo QB when it comes back.
nm, first guy took a QB so I thought it would be a run on QB. but next two took McCaffery and now I have no idea where to go :(
Guess Josh Allen or CeeDee
Disclaimer: I don’t play playoff fantasy.
But seems like you have to take Josh there.
I’m assuming it’s a snake and you won’t pick again until 2.13?
I can see the argument for CD, but I’m guessing WR choices will be better than QB choices for your later picks.
Yea I took Josh. Ceedee was first overall and I see internet rankings have him above Allen, but I have way more faith in the Bills than the Cowboys. Hoping to snag Diggs on the way back if there's a run on QBs
Yeah I think you gotta take Allen. My playoff league is doing a slow draft and he went 2nd after CMC, my pick was 8 and I went Pacheco only because I love pain and punishment.
5 QBs in top 12 and Tua, Hurts & Goff went early in the 2nd

Good info. Thanks. I def would have gone CMC 1. There's enough QBs I like enough to have waited, but I'm not in love with CD or the cowboys, so just went Allen.
Targeting Diggs, Aiyuk, Kittle next round. Hoping the first round run on QBs happens in this league too like it did yours
All I take from that is, JFC Calvin Ridley should have had 30 TD's this season.
I assure you I didn't get THAT Ridley,
Mike Clay
@MikeClayNFL
2023 NFL regular season end zone target leaders:
Calvin Ridley 25
CeeDee Lamb 20
Mike Evans 19
Romeo Doubs 16
DK Metcalf 16
Brandin Cooks 15
DJ Moore 15
Christian Watson 14
DeAndre Hopkins 14
Courtland Sutton 14
The process was right. The execution, not so much.
In other nears, the Bears fire Getsy. That should be good for fantasy, regardless of whether it's Fields or Caleb.
AJ brown is expected to play right? I think I’m angling for him and Swift in rounds 4 and 5 of this team and banking on the eagles to beat the Bucs
I haven't seen any injury news update for AJB. And with the game being on Monday, we probably won't get too many details until Fri/Sat other than limited practice reports. Probably have to lean into the variance though. The update on Sleeper called it a likely minor injury.
Who'd you grab in rounds 2 and 3?
1. Allen
2. Kelce (Diggs and cook off the board)
3. Pacheco
I realize I’m killing myself with playoff matchup variance here
Ended up going D'Andre Swift at 4.
The other Allen owner took Gabe Davis (I can take him also as a player can be picked twice given its 16 teams). I actually like Shakir more than Davis. So the next pick I'd like to go AJ Brown/Devonta Smith, but that's risking getting Davis or Shakir on the way back. I'm comfortable rolling with the Eagles. Think they play at least 2 games and are live against the Cowboys.
I'm not even sure if Gabe will play this weekend. 13 mins ago reported he was DNP today, but it was listed as a walk-through. I'd much rather AJB/Devonta than worry about missing on Davis or Shakir. Especially since you got Swift in the 4th. Like you said, lean into the Eagles at that point.
