Both black licorice and twizzlers are awesome

Where were you when I was a kid? Would have loved to trade all that trash Halloween candy for the good stuff!

I'm on team fudge is a huge scam and no one really likes its chalky texture and bland flavor

High quality licorice is awesome.

Unfortunately, there's no licorice culture in the US. Same goes for fizzy candy.

Stores like WorldMarket sell the good stuff from Scandinavia, the Netherlands and Germany though.

I think I'll make some peanut butter fudge in your honor today!

It's my opinion that all European candy sucks until proven different.

There are a lot of food items that are better in the US than in Europe. Candy/chocolate certainly aren't among them.

Almond Snickers, the dollar gentral dark chocolate peanuts

I'm on team Dark Roca...

forgot about this

only place i've ever seen it in my life was Egypt and it was so good - best candy i've ever had in my life - assuming it's probably widely available in UK given it's from cadbury

egypt's climate is weird though and gives you odd cravings, they drink an enormous amount of soda and I too found myself just pounding coca cola despite that I otherwise never drink soda and interestingly enough a bunch of other expats i spoke too also mentioned that they too became big soda drinkers in egypt - rick steeves even has an entire passage written about for some reason in egypt, he just really enjoys drinking lots of coca cola - so it is possible that this is more of a "while in egypt thing" and perhaps it wouldn't be so amazing in another climate but damn it's good

anyway, it's this nice rich and creamy chocolate that has gummies like jelly bean type stuff embedded in them as well as pop rocks so as you eat it your mouth fizzles a bit as well as if you were drinking a seltzer

pretty awesome and addictive experience

Botan!

Raise. Gotta be the Japanese version though.

I always pick up an assortment of Hi Chews when I hit the H-Mart for katsu (couple of times a month, usually). If we count only the last two years Hi Chew might make the top 5, by volume.

i was shocked to see how much people like hichews in america and how expensive they are

Either I'm the most ignorant candy person around here, or a lot of these were invented after I quit (well, almost) eating candy.

This.

Any American kid within a 100 miles of Hershey, Pennsylvania probably went there on a school field trip. But it wasn't until I was an adult freezing my ass off in Switzerland that I had some serious chocolate.

why am i just learning about this?

Neccos were great
Then that tried to make them healthier and they sucked
Then went out of business
Somebody bought formula
They came out again

And either not as good, or i just got old and no longer love pure sugar

necco is the involuntary sound my throat made after snorting chalk dust

Lindt has a chocolate museum in Zürich, Switzerland.

When I was 16 we went on a school field to the Stiegl brewery in Austria. Visiting a chocolate museum/factory might be almost as much fun.

Euro chocolate is fine but overrated. It's not even native to Europe!

Chocolate in belgium was amazing

I hated Neccos.

Maybe Egypt still uses the original formula for Coca-Cola, complete with actual Coca.
