obviously layla by derek and the dominos demands a top spot as that's an all time banger, but that band was around so briefly and all the key componetns had dozens of massive hits in other projects so i don't think that one counts - only on the list on a technicality

arlo guthrie and city of new orleans is part of the list, which feels insane to me as he had numerous hits and even an entire film developed out of another song (which isn't city of new orleans)

it also lists lou reed's perfect day and walk on the wild side... wtf? very tempted to do some serious editing to this wiki

likewise also has dr john, a guy with lots of popular songs, even though one is more popular than the others - we all know a handful of dr john songs

wtf it has werewolves of london from warren zevon, are you ****ing kidding me, warren is a saint and no one hit wonder

now it has soft cell, another with multiple legit hits

smooth and relaxing, just hard to listen to this and let that musical heroin take hold

really interesting behind the scenes doc on youtube about this song, how they knew they had a hit right away but were broke perfectionists so they spent months living with his parents and converting the dining room into a recording studio to get the song perfectly and cheaper than bringing it to a professional studio and then the song launched them into mega success and then never again hit that high

gman will appreciate this one, they got their name from all being former airforce, this was a staple of high school for me

never understood why they never had anything beyond this but apparently the front man was primarily a song writer and producer and this was more of a side project for him, same reason why we never heard from this guy again either

this whole album is solid but this was all that got any play

the irony of this is the song is about being a big deal with a hit song, but that was in his niche house music category, this one is mainstream

their dance moves were either inspired by or the inspiration for the champ

was shocked to finally learn this was a dude singing

never was a massive hit, but they played the late shows and were in wayne's world 2 soundtrack

entire album had that je ne se quois that satisfied teen angst but as far i know this was their only song to get any real airplay

absolutely beautiful song though, pretty depressing nothing else they did ever approached this
