Update April 2018
********************
OK Vlogger Thread, we are going with some new parameters to try to make this the POSITIVE vlogger thread that it is supposed to be, not the AIDS vlogger thread where a few loonies ruin it for the rest. Note that 'positive' does not equal 'only positive', it means anything negative being said CAN'T be namecalling or wild, unsubstantiated speculation regarding any and all vloggers. Personal lives and anything aside from poker is OFF THE TABLE.

A new update March 2019:
NO ****ING POLITICS!
In todays episode our hero El Diesel teaches us about stretching/exercising and having a good diet to set you up to achieve playing alot of hours.
He is preaching about this stuff while smoking a cigar of course, i mean what can you expect my gawd.
The video is also a typical rambling mess. Instead of saying here are three things which help you play long sessions then listing one, two, three. He goes on tangents almost immediately and I had completely tuned out after a few mins before he got to the third
He is trying to help Chance out by teaching him a thing or two.
I notice the vloggers that complain about bad beats the most tend to play small stakes.
With El Diesel though at least I believe him when he says he is running badly. With other vloggers if they have average luck they think they are unlucky.

El Diesel doesn't know what running had is, at least according to his own stats.
If in a decently busy room anyone can sit down at a table, and eventually make their game the best in the room.
I consider rice a friend.
I absolutely do not doubt his dividend portfolio numbers.
I absolutely believe he -- voluntarily -- plays on an exceedingly short roll. And that this, along with the mindset that accompanies doing so does non-negligibly reduce his winrate. I believe he would admit the same.
I absolutely believe he is a solid 5bb+/hr winner at the stakes (1/2-1/3) that he plays. I also believe he could, at his current skill level, be a similar winner at 2/5 and perhaps a shorter 5/T, as long as he acclimates to the t-bone steaks.
I absolutely consider Rice a high quality person, who is typically content and joyful in his day to day life.
I, personally, would love to see rice work the wsop as a dealer, save up a 20-30k roll, not invest significant amounts of said roll into his dividend stocks. In other words, I'd like to see my friend use his 20-30k roll as a zero baseline, win at a higher rate, and then invest into his funds from winnings after his baseline.
I absolutely believe that Rice will be "retired" from poker, and /or the need to earn a wage to live comfortably within the next 10 years.
Rice is good people.

Not that surprising i suppose, but i disagree with alot of stuff here.
One thing i wanna touch on, is the fact that Rice could play higher and earn the same amount of BB pr hour. He absolutely could not from what we have seen from him over quite some time, for multiple reasons. One of those reasons is that he seems to have this massive roadblock in his head regarding handling money swings, wich is just very very hard to overcome if you are gonna be a successfull pokerplayer. Its like a swimmer being afraid of water, or like a pilot being afraid of hights or having claustrophobia when he sits in the cockpit.
Its just not going to work in any reasonable way,and that is one of the main reasons why Rice is where he is imo. If you wanna earn in poker, you cant live in your own head refusing to develope your game, learn new tools or being dead scared of almost any variance/swings. You can see how he is spinning out of control when he gets a few beats or when his premium hands is losing some medium sized pots, or the classic video from MGM where he totally loses his shyt because he lost a buyin of 200 bucks.
Rice's cd collection is the most Rice thing ever.
It’s amazing.
1. Notebook paper as the cd “cases”
2. It doesn’t appear that the cases are labeled on the outside at all despite the fact that they are, you know, paper
3. The actual content on the CDs - Mike and the Mad Dog clips, sports play by play clips etc.
4. It sounds like they are 8-9 years old

Due to reading on this thread, I've discovered this 'Rice' character. I don't see him as being as loathsome or arrogant like many others do. I think he is kind of a funny harmless guy....a genuine individual.
You seem to know him personally, which to me carries a lot of weight. You describe him as cheerful/content which and will likely retire from poker sometime with 10 years. If so, it will be merely a phase of life for him that he will have chronicled. Although mocked now, some might look back fondly on a quirky guy who fry's eggs on the hood of his car, and sometimes sleeps in his back seat to conserve money.
If I ever saw him in Vegas, I'd want to say 'hi' and buy him a balanced breakfast....and watch him stuff the free jam/jelly in his pocket for later use!
You can like diesel but kinda ridic bro. Yeah probably he will do fine in games that are 2.5-5x his normal game and not freak out when he’s so mentally weak he can’t handle losing a buy in without having a breakdown.
He can be a great guy, but he’s extremely weird and not all that bright, that’s almost all of the stuff talked about him here. When he says something dumb or shows his eclectic personality and interests, he’s going to be goofed on when he makes a video about it and posts it on the internet. Whether that’s talking about his incredibly dumb investment strategies, how he keeps lists of places he’s eaten chicken on cars, how he thinks that people who make more money than him spend all their money, talks about John olerud, or how he carries around a rice cooker from hotel room to air bnb. Or the many many other examples, whatever this cd thing people are talking about, which already seems insane,
I think the conversation regarding the two main guys we talk about here is very different, I think some people, me included, think trooper is a bad person, I don’t get the feeling many feel that way about el diesel, they look at him as a pure wack packer.
Or how he thinks only 2 people have successfully retired from poker, and they are mark vos and his one friend who played 2-5 or something. That’s one of the craziest things I’ve ever heard anyone say. On the same level as Eric the actor believing there are werewolves in new mexico
He also isn’t capable of retiring from poker because his income is so low. To think he will be able to retire from poker is completely ridiculous. He saved 2k last year or the year before he said.
Jesus, he has a CD with football press conferences on it. lol
Does anyone use CD's anymore? It has to be at least 15 years since I burned CD's for a road trip.
If only Rice used his wifi and apps and knew about Spotify or Amazon music.

Or even this amazing app called YouTube, the very one he uploads videos to every day.

those idiots on the vegas strip still try and shake people down for money giving out their crappy cds.
When I saw the title of the video I said this could actually be useful for someone since he drives a lot cross country.
and then right away he whips out the cds in 2024. amazing.
The Trooper urges on video to get rid of the $10 bill.
Might as well just use $1, $5, $20, etc. since the ten has no use and cannot be used in vending machines such as $1 and $5.
Rice retiring in 10 years off of 40 hours of poker a month at 1/2 would put him in the elite 1% of every poker player that ever lived. Is this the narrative now? What makes him so world class at this?
Even more puzzling is Diesel must be ripping audio of poker/press conferences/play calls off of YouTube to his 2010s laptop that still has a cd drive in it. Why not just make a YouTube playlist and play it off the phone. This was another classic diesel moment. I just assume he still has floppy disks with word docs and spreadsheets of meaningless stats.
Youtube is the channel that the Trooper show comes on, what else could it be good for?

That’s not fair, Mookie Wilson’s OPS from the 1984 regular season is quite meaningful!
When he watches King of Queens episodes is he doing it on cable TV as they air?. Or did he get the boxed set as a Christmas gift and pops them into his laptop? No way in hell he knows how to / or pays to use a streaming service.
Halfway expect he has actually recorded to VHS and drags a VCR to his room to watch them.
doing better but like pig says, i also dont want to be 60 and be in that spot .
its a price I might have to pay for living a hedonist life.
like i just woke up from a 7pm to 10pm nap at 45+, who does that
Dude, ive read a bunch of your posts. You should start a podcast about trying to get out of the poker life/ get your **** together where you just talk about the grind, the life etc. I am a big fan of DGAF's sessions and I recognized pretty early on he had a story to tell way before his pod blew up.
I feel the same about you and I would def hype it to the other members of the DGAF podcast listeners and lots of folks in this forum i am sure would listen also. Would allow you to keep your anonymity to do just an audio podcast and no video necessary....
Go Gamble Podcast should start back up with Rice as the co-host. I would legit watch that.

I have said before, based on random off-hand things he has said, I believe he structures his play in Vegas around when King of Queens airs on Vegas basic cable so that he never misses any of the episodes.
Would also watch every Trooper podcast if Diesel is the cohost.

I just pictured him losing his mind with the front desk at Rio if whatever channel gets king of queens these days wasn't working well.
"I'm a diamond member and I dont want to miss these three (holds up 3 fingers in that strange Diesel way) episodes!
