the turquoise dial oyster perpetual used to be the Tiffany rolex, because that's the signature color of tiffany and co jewelers. tiffany is so legendary that a simple tiffany engraving on the dial of a rolex or patek will instantly double the already-absurd market price. and so lots of tiffany customers, when they buy their rolex or patek through tiffany, ask for the engraving.

but rolex is so weird and purist, they repeatedly asked and demanded tiffany stop altering the rolex dials like that. but tiffany's whole business is pleasing their wealthy customers, so they kept doing it. and rolex finally got so sick of it they ended their relationship with tiffany completely. so the turquoise oyster isn't a tiffany oyster anymore. but secondary market still trades it at 3-4x the dark blue dial because it is so, so sharp
