Summer In Vegas: Entries Are Now Open!!!
The 1st post will be a short summary for those who want to enter but don't want to think too much.
The 2nd post will be a more detailed description for those who want to scratch their head for awhile before making their picks.
This summer teams will descend on Las Vegas to duke it out for supremacy at the poker tables.
Team will consist of players with the same given name - Team John, Team Mary, Team Jose etc.
Teams score by being the "last longer" in summer Las Vegas tournaments (WSOP, Aria, Wynn, Golden Nugget etc etc).
Your job is to tell me which team will come out on top (for $100 or 10% of my winnings this summer).
Or for more money ($300 or 30% or my summer winnings) name the winning team and the MVP.
Or for more money ($500 or 50% of my summer winnings) name the winning team, the MVP and the Women's MVP)
Enter 1, 2, 3 or all 3 or any combination of the 3.
No duplicate guesses (example: once someone picks Team Jose, nobody else can pick Team Jose).
You are allowed to change your mind in March, April and May (just one change per month).
Entries are open now and close when "cards are in the air" this summer in Vegas.
For a more complete description of these rules, you can read the next post.
All but 1 tournament from Kaliningrad has been added.
One more tournament from Los Angeles has been added.
Welcome Team Fedor and Team Roman.
I really didn't think there would be a Team Fedor but we found a Fedor cashing in Pineapple Open Face Chinese in Kaliningrad.
a Fedor who will be playing "Summer In Vegas" (not the Pineapple Open Face Chinese one)
[/QUOTE]
We've found a picture of the other Fedor (the Pineapple Open Face Chinese cashing one).
An impressive resume on HM but he has never cashed in the USA - unlikely to be much help to Herr Holz.
I decided to use the 2024 Summer In Vegas rosters to illustrate the "last longer" concept using 2023 data.
Quite meaningless but good as an example.
This would be the result of the 2023 WSOP Main Event using 2024 rosters.
55 players on Summer In Vegas rosters cashed in this event.
As you can see, TEAM STEVEN would have gotten the win here.
Steven Jones Jr is on Team Steven but the actual winner (Daniel Weinman) has not made Team Daniel (yet).
I tried to get an example for tournaments with fewer entrants.
I came up empty on 2 tries but the MGM HORSE tournament that had 19 cashers had 5 Summer In Vegas players.
In this case, the actual winner (Jorge Alba) was also the last longer because he's on Team Jorge.
Results finally coming in from Seoul.
Welcome Team Hal (Hal Rotholz cashes in 2).
We now have 160 teams.
More results from Seoul.
We're now up to 163 teams.

Only 5 days until I fly to Taipei for the APT.
I'm trying to secure my place on Team Dave for the greatest fantasy competition ever: Summer In Vegas.
Not only is Summer in Vegas a fantasy competition: it's a reality competition too.
Don't just enter the pool, play your way onto a team and then run "Godlike" or "Glaserlike" in Vegas this summer.
I'm got my entry in the pool: Team Nick. Now I need my place on Team Dave.
Currently, I'm Team Dave's #2 Mixed Game player. I'm hanging on by a thread.
Need more cashes to solidity myself on the team.
And I looked over my teammates on Team Dave: what a bunch of losers!
There are 5 of us and our combined cashes during last summer in Vegas was ZERO!
So, I'm trying to make a team that has no chance at all on winning.
Oh well, we're in our rebuilding phase. Wait til '25!
BTW, Team Dave is a disaster but not Team David. Those guys have a powerhouse.
Just noticed that YouTube had a broadcast of a qualifying event: the Main Event of the Champion's Club in Houston.
And....they don't say who the players are!!!
Who would want to watch a poker video if you don't know who is playing?
Idiotic.
The great thing about this fantasy pool is that it doesn't need to be a fantasy.
Insert yourself into the action and get a spot on one of the teams.
I'm doing that by heading to Taipei to play the APT.
You can too or play in any of the running/upcoming series that qualify for Summer In Vegas pre-season.

Team Jeremy for me please.
Surprised Jeremy becker is not on there?
Jeremy 44 6
Is one missing?
All the Jeremys are there but I did have Jeremy Hamey down as having cashed in a Mixed Game. This wasn't correct and I fixed it.
Despite losing 1 qualifier, this actually helps your team. Hamey is still on your team as an Omaha player and it opens up another spot for a Mixed Game player.
Jeremy Becker currently has 10 Holdem cashes for $37,505 in qualifying tournaments. His cashes at the Venetian (all flop games) and the recurring tournaments (must be part of a series) don't qualify. However, a new set of tournaments have just started at the Wynn so I would expect Becker will make your roster soon.
The bad news is that if Becker gets on the roster then Jeremy Menard will be gone (only 2 holdem players per team).
I hear there is a lot of money bet on how Becker will do this summer. That's good news/bad news. That bet is only on the WSOP and last summer Becker got a lot of his cashes at the Venetian.
The bet might get him to play more WSOP events but less Venetian events.
Then there is Jeremy Ausmus. You are very lucky that he is qualified as Omaha only. However, he is quite capable of scoring big at Holdem which would deprive you of one of your Holdem players.
The pre-season is quite confusing so that some times you have to cheer AGAINST one of your players. However, in the summer it's just "last longer" only so that will not be a problem.
Also, in the summer all the series in Vegas running concurrently with the WSOP count (even if they are all flop) so the Venetian tournaments will qualify for the "last longer"s.
Jeremy Ausmus (one of Team Jeremy's Omaha players)
CORRECTION:
There are 2 Leap Into Spring series that started on the 20th in Texas.
It's the one in Dallas that qualifies - not the one in Irving.
I'm off to Taipei to play the APT and try to lock up a position on Team Dave.
No updates until I'm back on March 11th.
Here are the 166 teams that have qualified:
And here are the entries so far. Feel free to enter while I'm away.

eat some soup dumplings, download tinder and bang away, and feel free to chip dump to any adams if you think you can get away with it
for real though, the food there is really good, it's a less gritty and more westernized version of china, you'll have a lot of fun there

What a great place. Due to jet lag up and about at 5AM. No problem, 3 7-11s within a block! Went for two of their specialties: sweet potato and tea eggs. Great breakfast.
It didn't take Daniel Negreanu long to join Team Daniel.
In his first qualifying tournament ($5K PokerGo HORSE) of this contest he made the final table.
The tournament finishes up tomorrow but any final table finish should be good enough to get Negreanu onto the team.
It's great news for Reporters Without Borders who have Team Daniel for $100 and Team Daniel/Daniel Negreanu for an additional $300.
Meanwhile, Daniel Heimiller stays hot with 2 more cashes at the Wynn.
the other Daniel
And how about the other superstar at the final table of the 5K PokerGo HORSE: Benny Glaser?
Benny's most recent cashes were in non-qualifying tournaments.
He has just holdem + omaha and will get the mixed game qualifier because of this final table.
There is only one other Benny that has qualified so far: Benny Chen in Holdem.
That gives Team Benny 4 qualifiers of the 5 they need to be accepted into the Summer In Vegas.
So, all sights will be on the one non-mixed game in the PokerGo Mixed Game Series: the 2-7 Single Draw that closes out the series.
A cash in that tournament will qualify Team Benny.
BTW, there was an 8-game that Benny cashed in in Rio - I didn't have that series on my qualifying list - I better recheck it
PokerGo is streaming the final table of the 5K HORSE on YouTube. Check it out.
Whomever wins makes no difference. Daniel is in, Benny still needs to cash in the NL27.
News from event #2: David Baker & David Baker are currently running #10 & #11 in the chip counts.
I think "Bakes" is currently on Team David and a cash for ODB would get him on the team.
YouTube will have this final table tomorrow.
I'm now in a better position to make the dreadful Team Dave.
3rd place in the 8-game for 26K Taiwan dollars (aprox US$882).
