Edit: RULES FOR THIS THREAD
Posting guidelines for Politics and Soci...
These are our baselines. We're not reinventing the wheel here. If you aren't sure if something is acceptable to post, its better to ask first. If you think someone is posting something that violates the above guidelines, please report it or PM me rather than responding in kind.
To reiterate some of the points:
1. No personal attacks. This is a broad instruction, but, in general, we want to focus on attacking an argument rather than the poster making it. It is fine to say a post is antisemitic; it is not okay to call someone an antisemite over and over. If you believe someone is making antisemitic posts, report them or PM me. The same goes for calling people "baby killers" and "genocide lovers". You are allowed to argue that an action supports genocide or that the consequences of certain policies results in the death of children, but we are no longer going to be speaking to one another's intentions. It is not productive to the conversation and doesn't further any debate.
2. Racist posts and other bigoted statements that target a particular group or individuals of such groups with derogatory comments are not allowed. This should not need further explanation.
3. Graphic Images need to be in spoilers with a trigger warning.
4. Wishing Harm on other posters will result in an immediate timeout.
5. Genocidal statements such as "Kill 'em all" etc, are no longer permissible in the thread.
If anyone has any questions about the above, please PM me. I don't want a discussion about the rules to derail the content of this thread. If anything needs clarifying, I will do that in this thread.
Please be aware this thread is strictly moderated
It's a total eclipse of jihad.
So now you're using the onion for your news?
And meanwhile...
6 week long cease fire for 40 hostages would be a massive win for Hamas.
The deal would also include the release of at least 700 Palestinian prisoners, including more than 100 who are serving life sentences for killing Israelis.
As well.
Seems unlikely
The Israelis have historically done that type deal, releasing stupendous numbers of apparent terrorists for just one hostage, which is why Hamas and other terrorist orgs keep taking hostages -- the Israelis make it worth their while and offer every incentive for them to carry on hostage-taking. This is probably not the time for yet another deal on those lines (and it was always a terrible and obviously self-defeating idea), but with the Israelis you never know.
Saying what vic? Don't get all cryptic on me, spit it out
It's a satire on Israel's bombing policy. Like those three vehicles clearly marked on their roofs with an aid agency's logo and using a pre-notified aid route, all three of which the Israelis deliberately bombed in succession in order to kill aid workers (making sure that the survivors who fled to another vehicle were killed in turn) and deter aid agencies from doing their job. Do try and catch up.
I really don't think that's what happened. The people that made the call basically destroyed their own careers. Everything points to careless error as the cause of the attacks.
But IDF playing fast and loose with approvals is arguably even worse.
Also I just want to point out IDF firing people for accidentally killing civilians vs. Hamas worshipping people for intentionally killing civilians is one of the core differences between the two parties to this conflict.
Bibi seems to be doing his best to erase that difference but it's still there, for now.
Palestinian protest in Michigan leads to "Death to America " chants
Weird....
Vic is in favor of death to America, as his cohort make last-minute revisions to the manifesto.

count me as being in favour of the ceasefire, and then immediately breaking it (i'm talking within 60 seconds) of securing the safety of the 40th hostage
