wrt being very good at football, Gascoigne was clearly their best ever player, and by a mile, but he doesn't even make your list.

Didn't play for us for long enough to be in the conversation. Same with Modric and Bale (at his peak) Also most people think Hoddle better there anyway

Goalkeeper clown show at Turf Moor

Oh my

I mean, he's at the very least in the conversation. Hoddle, Kane, Mackay, maybe Blanchflower and maybe Greaves. Greaves a more prolific goalscorer but way less well-rounded.

So yeah - it's not even close to a stretch to claim he's our best ever player.

Tbf, Greaves and Kane’s league scoring records are close to identical. Obv none of us watched Greaves play, but to your point, if someone has Greaves on the list, then they have to have Kane and vice-versa

Kane isn't Spurs "best ever player". Football did exist before the Premier League.

I'm not seeing a "process" with Angeball, just some mad tactics that worked well when they took teams by surprise but not so much lately, though I don't pay too much attention. Newcastle won by using their speedy players to break open the high line while only having 27% possession, not a tactic that was hard to see working.

Define lately? They were 4th at Boxing Day, 8th in xPTS. Since then they're 4th in points, 6th in xPTS. Since start of March they're 6th in points per game, 7th in xPTS per game. Seems they've been pretty much the same year round, and one terrible game doesn't really change that.

That being said they're about to go on a murderer's row of games so I'm expecting a freefall, then smash Burnley and Sheff U in the last two games to finish in Champions League places, whether it's 4th or 5th.

Not saying Ange is close to Pep, but were people saying the same about Pep when he came in and only got third his first season, including losing 4-0 at Everton

Liverpool 0 - 1 Crystal Palace (14’😉

Happy to see Liverpool losing after just 15 minutes. Better to finish the season off today than pretend there is still some hope left. I have accepted that we will finish 3rd and I doubt we will be a contender next season. We gave it our best during Klopp’s reign but it simply wasn’t good enough to establish any period of sustained success. We will cherish our covid title for the next 10 to 20 years.

yes

and then he spent five hundred and thirty million pounds in twelve months on stones, sane, jesus, gundogan, bravo, laporte, mendy, walker, silva, ederson and others, and all was well

He had half of those his first season after they spent 150m the season before that. As always I'm pretty much on your side when it comes to lol managers, but Spurs have been pretty much the same all season - media over hyped it because Ange says mate, Spurs are scoring more and Conte was completely toxic

Come on plop.

This Mateta is a strong lad.

That’s ridiculous.

Managers clearly make a difference, but obviously the most important variable is the quality of the players.

Ange was overhyped because of the difference and because we won like 9 of first 10 games or something despite not actually playing as well as the results were (I said this a LOT at the time), but there's also clear progress from last year despite losing our best ever player*.

*someone who is at least in the conversation as our best ever player.

Maybe we're completely shite again next year and it all reverses, or maybe we spend 200m on 3 players and we're much better.

I believe Levy is still there

I believe Levy is still there

Yeah and we have spent a LOT of money in the last c. 5 years. The whole "Levy is tight" thing doesn't really hold water any more when it comes to transfer fees. We've spent it really quite badly though.

Wouldn't be surprised if we spent 150m this summer assuming we can with FFP.

Plop losing at home to Palace is so bleak.

Well done Palace.

Four away games next for Liverpool.

It's over. We are screwed.

All down to Arsenal now seeing how Plop have choked it away

Always good to see a crying child in the crowd when it’s still April

I'm enjoying Klopp's farewell tour a lot more than I thought I would

What a through ball from Odegaard.

Come on someone hit the target already. Arsenal looking really good.

Odegaard looking like the player of the season if Arsenal hold.

Odegaard looking like the player of the season if Arsenal hold.

lol he's had a great season but I think he's like end or 3rd favourite from this Arsenal team let alone overall. Has to be Rice ahead of him.

I think Foden is favourite though.

The winner will come from whoever wins the league.

I think early in the season I would have said Rice, but Odegaard is clearly our most creative player and also vital for our pressing. Dude is relentless and our best player.

Oof Watkins missed by about 1 inch.

Trossard has to score there.

Sick touch from Saka to bring that down.
