Whale of all whales - loses £16m at Triton Montenegro
Anyone ever heard of this guy George Cottrell, was he on any of the Triton cash game streams or were these the off stream games?
Apparently he lost £16m in Montenegro last week at Triton playing cash. It’s the Daily Mail so take that with a pinch of salt:
George Cottrell (born 1 October 1993) is a British financier and convicted felon. He was a senior advisor to Nigel Farage and served as head of fundraising for the UK Independence Party (UKIP) until his arrest in the USA following the 2016 Republican National Convention.[1]

How does this guy have that much money to lose? Crypto whale?
Looks like he’s the son or family of some aristocrats but tbh even they would have a hard time spunking thag sort of money. If you google him looks like he’s been high stakes gambling for some time. He also got arrested and served time for wire fraud so could be money laundering.

sounds and looks like a standup guy
Seems like his ex gf got a type at least
LOL
Isildur1 had nice character development after looking like an awkward skinny nerd when he was 20
That's hilarious Viktor is with her.
Which celebrities and high roller players were in this game?
No doubt, it was other people's money which he lost.
His wikipedia is wild lol
Wonder who scooped the monies in that game. Come on, how does no one know someone at this Triton stop who can spill the beans on who's sitting the table?
Rob Yong's tweet that the main cashgame played too big for him suddenly makes sense.
edit: I just realized that Ivey randomly punt-shipping K8o pre early at a final table a few days back is starting to make more sense too.....
for 16 million, couldn't he get someone to play for him...
Sounds like a bad investment.
Rarely has a photo said "story checks out" better than that one.
He looks like the WSB avatar. So yeah.
His wikipedia is wild lol

Amazing that these sorts of games are running would love to know more. Rob often responds quite honestly on X so maybe he can shed some info.

Tweet link?
It’s not her. That Viktor pic is old af and the girl this whale went out with is in her twenties now in 2024 and is a z list celeb in the UK.
Not sure whats most astonishing. Your math or the fact that you think her name is that common. After googling her, she is 29 and the picture is 9 years old. She was 20 when dating Blom. It is the same person obviously.
So how long before we see this Mr. Cottrell on HCL ?
apparently, whales don't initiate a stop loss.
