Let's talk about Stream and buy mountains of games
I thought we might like to have a Steam offers catch-all thread, and maybe even any general discussion about the service.
Like many of us here I have been using Steam since it first appeared with Half Life 2. Initially it seemed pointless and intrusive, but we put up with it because, well, we needed to play CS:S and HL2. Over the years I have found myself buying more and more from Steam and now I pretty much exclusively buy my games there. In fact Valve have so got their model sorted that I would pay a few dollars more for the ease of having it in my Steam collection rather than the hassle of hard copy install.
This is not really necessary though since these days if you wait around for offers you can end up owning more than you can ever play. I have Batman, Far Cry 2, Bioshock 2, Borderlands, Torchlight and much more just half played or not played at all. All of these have been purchased at a reduced rate.
Anyway rather than waffle on further the reason I started this thread is to point out
--->
Left 4 Dead was my game of 2008 but I had enough other stuff to play and was a bit pissed off that they released 2 so quickly afterwards that I didn't buy it at full price. Now I am immediately picking it up. Sadly for you hardened players you can expect a wave of n00bs to arrive due to this deal.
That is all, feel free to add any good Steam offers as and when they appear to this thread and also to discuss the Steam service in general.
Mash,
I've a Talos 2 question. I've finished the first set of puzzles (East 1-8). But I still have the Gold gate, lost lab and the two triangles . Are the triangles like the stars in Talos 1? Or something else that I should leave for later?
I also found a flame...
You can finish all but the golden gate - those can't be unlocked until later.
For the rest (not sure if these are considered spoilers but putting them in tags to be sure)
I think it's fine to simply continue if you're not sure. Don't worry too much, just focus on the experience. As for the flame you'll probably figure it out sooner or later, it's not vital.
I love how different it is. 😀
Thanks Mash! Time to look around. I did find a ghostly mine just floating around in the woods. I don't know why it was there.
It Takes Two is super charming even though though the story and voice acting are gag-worthy. Great to play with your romantic partner, controls are intuitive and no puzzle is too challenging.
The level design is really incredible. We had the most fun just exploring and tinkering around with areas.

what about kids? my older one is 9 this year
I think kids would enjoy the gameplay, for sure. Some puzzles could be tough without adult help. The story is about two parents getting divorced, so I guess be ready for that.
I forgot I added Unbound World's Apart to my WishList until I got an email saying it was on sale for $5
Only about 30 minutes in but would recommend for the price.

OMG, I never noticed the question marks on the compass heading before. I also discovered the purpose of the Sparks. 😀

Been putting some more time into this gem.
It's labeled as a Metroidvania, which I guess you do get different abilities as you go along, but so far there hasn't been much (if any) backtracking.
What sets it apart for me is the art style and soundtrack. Top notch so far.
Pretty sick if you're into modding
Triine 5 is on sale though not much off, but the trine games generally are pretty fun 3 player games even if they are very very very flawed
I enjoyed Trine 1 and 2 many moons ago. Had zero idea they made another three more.
Perfect game to just keep pumping out
You can pick it up in Steam for free - Warhammer 40,000: Gladius - Relics of War
Nice thing about subscription services is that you can demo games that have no demo. Subbed to EA Play to try Jedi: Survivor. Got fed up of all the platforming. It's not that it's bad; there's just so much of it, more than in Fallen Order. I like the combat, but if feels like something that happens in-between all the running, jumping, swinging, flipping etc. A lot of it seems unnecessary - like all I want to do is ascend that ridge right in front of me. Why do I have to jump here, wall run across there, slide down, jumo back up every damn time?
Songs of Conquest was fun, and apparently there are planned dlc and a full expansion in the works.
If you enjoy HOMM3 then I recommend it.
Mash,
Where are you in Talos 2? I'm currently on South 2. South 1, statue with green target was tough... whew.
I had a lot of travels lately and was busy with Mario Odyssey (which was a bit disappointing) so parked Talos for a while. I already noticed facing issues in N1 which doesn't help.
Diablo IV was on sale for half off on Steam. Which I couldn't say no to. I'm currently a lvl. 23 Barb, and am relatively new to the series. The campaign is fun so far. Not sure what to expect after the story ends.
Not sure how screwed I'll be later on for not doing research on the builds. Thus far it's been easy.
I wanted to play Diablo IV when it came to GamePass, but then this popped up
I hate being forced to sign up or register for something regardless of how easy it is to do.
On the bright side - you don't have to play D4
Lol, I guess a good thing?
I've never played a Diablo game so I was at least interested, but not that interested.
Ah sorry to be an ass. It would be fun for a bit then.
I'm predominately a big (read: addicted) ARPG player, with a distaste for Diablo, so what I say can be ignored!
Better listen to the fans.
I realised how D4 and its ilk can be satisfying during the course of my 20+ attempts to beat Lies of P's final boss. After all that frustration, playing such an undemanding game, where progress every session is guaranteed, is a relief.
