gary the bett man! charles barkley! ariana grande!

all the stars are here tonight

chuck is the greatest. drops an f-bomb, then shouts out:

1. rod black (works for the other guys)
2. christine simpson (ding ding ding!)
3. don cherry (fired years ago)

what a life

yet more pathetic dirtball **** from the loilers, shocking

The announcers can't say elbow to the face? I mean, that's clearly what it was, like suspendable.

How did the refs retroactively call a 2 minute penalty there.

kane should legit be in prison. i'm sure he will be shortly after his career is over

yeah i know draisaitl is big, but barkov is 6'3". it was quite obv a leaping elbow to the face

come on, fight him mcbust

tkachuk tkachuking finally

mcdavid should know better than to get sucked into responding to those antics

The better team was the better team tonight, and looks like they’re going to get rewarded for it.

This is where the Oilers can make history.

nope

well this is getting interesting.....

hey look, edm with a nut shot in garbage time. i am stunned

and another cheapshot from draisaitl. scummiest team in the league hands down

CapGeek was the original, but the owner died of cancer (IIRC)

Ok Florida scores next 4 goals. Shrugs

Last nights game was a brutal effort by the Oilers. I read how skinner isn't a elite goalie but its not like they are scoring any goals. That much talent and how many shots did they get.

I still think they can comeback but now I say Oilers in 7 are Florida in 4

I didn't think that hit was 5 minutes but there was cheap shots going around but the Oilers took more . Draisatal has that temper as well

Blame Canada.

game 2, 5v5 xg: 63% panthers
all xg: 72% panthers (2.81 expected goals for)

cliffs: a low event game at 5v5, largely due to edmonton's inability to threaten the florida goal. they had no high danger scoring chances at 5v5, and only 1 in the entire game (mcdavid's breakaway at the end, i assume), alarming due to the amount of time edm played with an advantage. oilers special teams froze, and skinner had another slightly sub-par game in goal.

best oilers xg: holloway 50%, mcdavid 44%, nugent-hopkins 43%, ekholm 39%, hyman 38%
worst* oilers xg: mcleod 5%, kane 6%, brown 19%, henrique 20%, carrick 22%
* - foegele was 0% over 2 minutes, nurse was 20% over 4 minutes

the guys in the top5 showed signs of life, but most of the team just didn't show up. and some left early. their depth forwards were great in game 1, nonexistent in this one. the oilers had 6 shots from forwards in this game, and they all came from mcdavid, draisaitl and hyman. the other 9 guys? just getting some cardio work in. also their dmen were all mediocre, and skinner failed to steal a game that needed stealing. other than that, it went pretty well.

in game 1 they had 13 high danger scoring chances at 5v5, and 18 (!!!) overall. in game 2: 1. it is time for coach knobhead to put on his robe and wizard hat and figure this out, because the season is on the line in game 3.

best panthers xg: verhaeghe 80%, tarasenko 79%, tkachuk 76%, montour 75%, bennett 75%
worst panthers xg: stenlund 0%, lorentz 28%, okposo 35%, luostarinen 36%, reinhart 48%

whatever adjustments the panthers made after game 1 worked out perfectly. they completely smothered the oilers attack in all situations. all their dmen were 54%+ xg, the entire squad had great energy. oilers have as many goals in this series as bob has mistakes: 1.

as for specifics, a lot of their top forwards really brought. montour bounced back nicely from a poor game 1, and tarasenko has been great in both games; they should really play him more ... there might be a reason that he's already a champion, ya know?

the only negatives are stenlund and lorentz being the worst players on the team for like the billionth game in a row, and them dragging poor kyle okposo to hell because he's forced to play with them always. and luostarinen may have been banged up from the shot he took to the knee, because he was their best player in game 1. or maybe it's just a coincidence, who knows.

Alright, next bet is Edmonton running into Florida's goalie trying to hurt him.😉

by 72off k

team dirtball strikes again, going after the knees of star players. disgusting, ban this sick filth

You mean this play, where he trips Foegele, then dives on the ice and pretends like he got hit in the knee when he wasn't touched? Thank goodness they reviewed this nothingness and decided it was worth 5+game.

Or this brutal headshot where Tkachuk is murdered by a sniper from the crowd despite Bouchard not touching him?

https://twitter.com/LiamHorrobin/status/...

At least Florida never does anything super dirty like, say, try a rear naked choke to the point of the Oiler literally having to tap

https://twitter.com/Sportsnet/status/180...

or go for dirty knee on knee hits:

or come in charging elbow high to the head:

But hey, tell me more about how dirty the Oilers are playing.

Defend the Carrick play if you would.

by Malucci k

Defend the Carrick play if you would.

Agreed indefensible

Speaking of plane travel, Florida could not get out of Florida due to storms, 3 hour delay which is lucky cause they were saying they might be a day delay.

Cue the only way for Edmonton to win jokes :p

Edmonton got out of Florida just fine.

Welcome the Utah Hockey club to the NHL next season until they decide on a final name, lol.

Kaapo Kaako staying with NYR for another year for $2.4 mill

any lineup news for today? should be some, given the loilers injury problems alone. thought i saw someone saying yesterday that nurse would play ... whatever. he's not good, especially injured, but neither are the alternatives. similar deal with kane, ineffective while injured, but the other options aren't great either. wouldn't be surprised to see perry draw back in for someone.

saw that barkov and taraseno are good to go, which is cool. didn't know that tarasenko had an issue, given how well he's played, but maybe that explains his relatively low minutes.
