2024 Fantasy Football Thread

I'll take him any chance I get after the top WRs go. I'm a little concerned that Atlanta is not gonna be as good as people think.

How much do you think it makes a difference whether you max out a contest or not? I was planning on doing 75 ish BBM's. I'd love to max it out but I'm not comfortable spending that much dough. I need to have something left over for DFS.

I think I just don’t like waddle that much haha. I’m trying to force myself to take ppl outside of d smith, Nabers, Deebo, Aiyuk in that range bc I’m way overweight (especially Nabers/d smith)

I’m not a waddle guy . I hate the late 2nd round . I’ve been reaching for 3rd rounders .

If you knew you could get Bowers you could have swapped Kincaid for a RB. I think this would make your team look a lot better.

This is the type of draft that could end up being sneaky good. I think a healthy Waddle will be much better this year. You're pretty deep at WR. Kendre could be a nice sleeper if he stays healthy. Maybe Chase ends up being the guy in Cincy.

Your QBs are blah but not bad.

The whole second round to about the middle of the third all seems very flat regarding talent.

I like dj Moore and cooper kupp im the 3rd and sometimes mike evans drops .

If so, the first 3 picks were fine, 4th was a bit of a reach, 5th is fine, but not what I’d do, Jamo in the 6th is bad (don’t over force correlation), purdy in the 7th is also bad, Njoku in the 8th is fine but I definitely prefer bowers to njoku

Maybe a leak, but I definitely would not have drafted rb where I got Kincaid. Likely would’ve gone wr (don’t think any of the top QBs were left), but I would’ve drafted rb instead of Wandale later

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if Bowers moves up to between Engram and Ferguson in the late 7th/early 8th.

I was referring to mostly being out on Jakobi Meyers.

People like to compare Bowers to Pitts, since they were both considered generational. But Bowers's skill set is much better for fantasy since he will be schemed a lot of touches and he's great on YAC. We also know the age cliff hits fast. Davante looked good last year, but he could decline quickly at any point given his age. I also wouldn't be surprised if Davante either forces a trade by the deadline or he quiet quits on a team out of the playoff race. He hasn't really been happy with the Raiders since they forced Carr out.

For Mayer, he will probably be one of the few 18 round selections I'm close to 8% on. I think he's a way better selection than most of the other TEs going in the 17th/18th. People are treating him like he's never going to see the field, since he goes undrafted a lot of times. And if Bowers gets hurt, Mayer will be a full-time TE who is third in the target order. I think the Raiders are going to do their best to put both guys on the field as much as possible.

I think overall volume across all available contests is what matters most, but my goal when I draft a contest is to at least put in somewhat decent volume. I don't want 2 teams in a contest that is 20 team max, 50 team max, etc. But with something like The Chihuahua 2 being fast draft only, you can only do so much in the period the contest is open. I don't draft more than 2 fast drafts at a time.

I think 75 BBMs is more than sufficient. I haven't decided if I'll do any BBMs at all. The structure is better this year, but there are just so many other contests where you don't have to run quite as good to make significant money at much lower price points. I'd do as many BBMs as possible in late August/beg of September. However, this thing could possibly fill before then. Already at 25.7%.

Just finished my first millymaker draft. I'm okay with this. When I took Bateman, I was on the fence between him and Dobbins.

QB - Hurts, Geno, DJ

RB - Taylor, Walker, Zamir, Zeke, Hubbard

WR - AJ, Metcalf, Godwin, Rashid, Wandale, Bateman, Slayton, Johnny Wilson, Malik

TE - Ferguson, Hockenson, Sanders

Seems fine, but a bit too light at WR for how i like to build, but that doesn't mean it's not good

I keep mentioning it, but it can't be emphasized enough how important WRs are in the first 8-10 rounds. 4 through 7 and 5 through 10 should be the baseline. And DK is even more impactful with PPR + bonuses.

Also, I've mentioned the Spike Week DraftIQ draft caddy tool I use. Pat Kerrane's company, Legendary Upside, just released their own draft caddy tool. I'm just starting the stream, but it looks pretty solid so far.

These tools are especially helpful with high volume slow drafts.

I wrote Meyers but I meant Mayer. The fantasy hive mind has left him for dead. He's a super easy click late if you need a third TE.

I also have bad vibes on Adams. He doesn't have the best QBs throwing to him. Antonio Pierce wants to run a lot. Good point about a potential temper tantrum. The less than great QB room should benefit Bowers.

I was hoping to max out the millie on Draft kings this year but the price went from 10 to 20.

What other contests are you referring to that have cheaper price points and you don't have to run as well?

I was gonna ask you guy's what podcasts you listen too. I love the "Legendary upside". Nothing like talking football for 2-4 hours.

CBS Fantasy Football Today I like listening to. They are a fun podcast but also provide some good info.

Referring to the Raiders. I think Minshew gets the job which will be an upgrade from last year .

I would like at least one more solid WR. I think Wondale is gonna have a solid year.

I'd prefer a vet starter behind Ferg and Hock instead of a rookie. Who knows when Hockenson will be back. Probably not until the second half of the season.

Daniel Jones might be the Jordan Love of this year. He has an elite target in Nabers. Wondale is a year removed from his injury and looked good last year. Year two of Hyatt. Maybe Theo Johnson becomes a thing.

It's a very strong team if it can stay healthy.

The Puppy 2 is live. Not quite what I predicted, although I hit the first place price. 168k entrants, $750k PP, $100k to first. I entered my first slow draft and got the 1.01. It's going to be a good contest! Haha

As far as other contests, I'll use BBM as the baseline. Advancing is 2/12, 1/13, 1/16, and then a 539 seat final. The finals min cash is $3,750, equal to breakeven for a max enterer.

The Puppy that just dropped is 2/12, 1/10, 1/10, and then a 280 seat final. The finals min cash is $750, equal to breakeven for a max enterer. Now obviously, BBM offers a lot more upside at the top, but even so, you have to finish top 20 for $100k+, just comparing to what the winner of the Puppy receives. So I can either max enter the Puppy and have a better chance at the finals or fire 30 BBMs with the same $750. I am generally choosing to allocate that $750 so 5x bullets, even if the ultimate upside is less.

And some of the contests are even better, granted, with much lower 1st place prices. I love the single entrant contests. The Greyhound was a $35 buy in, 6,360 entrants, and $30k to first. The advance structure is 2/12, 1/5, 1/4, and then a 53 seat final. The Golden single entrants were a $10 buy in, 5,616 entrants, and $10k to first. The advance structure is 2/12, 1/6, 1/6, and then a 26 seat final.

The Mini Schnauzer was a $3 buy in, 20 entry max, $10k to first with 2/12, 2/10, 2/8, and a 310 seat final.

The DK Milly is easier to make it through weeks 15 and 16 (1/12 for each), than BBM, but their final is twice the size at 1,021 seats. That's just a lot of teams to beat. And then you have to finish top 350 to even cash for $3k, to match breakeven for a max enterer.

DK's rake is also higher than UD's.

Now this guy certainly has some bias based on what he prefers, but I think most people can generally apply his contest scoring. He goes through and grades contests based on payout structure, entrant numbers, etc. as they are released.

LegUp is my favorite. I love any podcasts they do, plus the weekly ADP chasing on the Ship Chasing YouTube channel. I also watch Pete Overzet's Monday best ball breakfast where he is live for 4 hours. He does 1 solo draft, 1 draft with Shawn Siegle, one draft with Pat, and then the final draft is usually a new weekly guest. Yesterday his guest was Jon and Nez from the BadgeBros.

I like Spike Week with Erik. Erik also collabs with Pat sometimes.

I like Pat with The Fantasy Dog Pound.

ETR is decent, especially with Herzig now on the team, but I'm not a big fan of Levitan or Evan. Leone is growing on me, but I feel like those guys try to get too cute sometimes.

Pat Kerrane is my favorite because I feel like he does the best at mixing rankings with the market with the edges he has strong conviction on.

If you want some comedic relief, the Swolecast does a weekly draft with Pete, Davis Mattak, and David Kitchens that is usually hilarious. They typically draft on Wednesdays.

Liam Murphy is decent, and I'll watch him when I've gone through most of the above, but he is the epitome of a vibes based drafter haha. It's still interesting to hear his takes. He's also a Bills homer.

Puka in the first and Kupp in the third is weird too me. It seems like it should be at most one round difference. Kupp came into the year beat up last year. Now he is healthy. He's really good. I guess he is older and does have a history of injuries. Puka is young and possibly ascending.
