Edit: RULES FOR THIS THREAD

2+2 Rules

Posting guidelines for Politics and Soci...

These are our baselines. We're not reinventing the wheel here. If you aren't sure if something is acceptable to post, its better to ask first. If you think someone is posting something that violates the above guidelines, please report it or PM me rather than responding in kind.

To reiterate some of the points:

1. No personal attacks. This is a broad instruction, but, in general, we want to focus on attacking an argument rather than the poster making it. It is fine to say a post is antisemitic; it is not okay to call someone an antisemite over and over. If you believe someone is making antisemitic posts, report them or PM me. The same goes for calling people "baby killers" and "genocide lovers". You are allowed to argue that an action supports genocide or that the consequences of certain policies results in the death of children, but we are no longer going to be speaking to one another's intentions. It is not productive to the conversation and doesn't further any debate.

2. Racist posts and other bigoted statements that target a particular group or individuals of such groups with derogatory comments are not allowed. This should not need further explanation.

3. Graphic Images need to be in spoilers with a trigger warning.

4. Wishing Harm on other posters will result in an immediate timeout.

5. Genocidal statements such as "Kill 'em all" etc, are no longer permissible in the thread.

If anyone has any questions about the above, please PM me. I don't want a discussion about the rules to derail the content of this thread. If anything needs clarifying, I will do that in this thread.

Please be aware this thread is strictly moderated
I know what he was asking and you know what I think about it.

"radical left yale" lmao

The administration of Yale, no less. Famously left-wing radicals, those Ivy-League admins.

by Crossnerd k

I can personally assure you that Yale has no shortage of conservative cape cod douchebros with cocaine habits and trust funds from daddy and big plans to be the next George Bush or whatever.

is this fake then? this was in 2017

https://yaledailynews.com/blog/2017/09/1...

faculty far far far to the left of american voters

by Slighted k

also a hearty lol at the silly conservative talking point that the super legacy dominated university is run by "radical leftists".

legacy dominated in which sense? faculty controls college and it's radically to the left.

it's hard to have a conversation with someone that denies basic uncontroversial truths like that Yale (and most other important American colleges) skew far to the left of the Democratic party

I mean you even denied that FDR SCOTUS nominees were leftist lol, but yes, Yale nowadays is famous for being extremely, radically to the left of american politics.

Genghis Khan was to the left of many American voters.

Also. liberalism isn't leftist - they are staunch advocates for capitalism and love the wealthy. If you don't believe me there's a liberal politics forum you can browse or sign up to it at unstuckpolitcs.com and would be a good choice of site for you to continue testing your political theories out at against some shitlibs.

You thought Korematsu was a win for the left. You're clearly operating under a wildly incoherent definition of what words mean at a basic level.

korematsu was a leftist decision as every decision of the court was when 8 out of 9 judges were nominated by FDR

I saw her speak live a few months back

She spoke about all the secret arab money coming into elite universities and how she helped uncover much of it

by Luciom k

You are confusing sources of money treating the whole of the Arab world as a monolith.

Qatar has gas, not oil money, Qatar interests are often divergent from KSA interests, Qatar tries to play all sides at the same time usually, with mixed results.

Hamas leadership parties in Qatar currently for example.

Trump and family afaik made deals with KSA, an official ally of the USA.

Qatar throws A LOT of money around US institutions, including conservative institutions. I will say, similar to Iran they endorse militant conservative Islamism around the world (through Al Jazeera, Muslim Brotherhood, SJP, etc.) to destabilize the world towards their own ends. But they also support regional US military bases and buy expensive American made weapons systems, so they definitely are playing both sides towards their own ends.

University far left progressives of course are sympathetic to militant Islamism, because in their perception they share a common enemy, Western civilization. So that is a particularly fertile field for Qatar to plow. And it is no secret, although it being completely in the open hasn't amounted to much, because all relevant US power structures just completely ignore it.

by PointlessWords k

Why do you think that is?

I already said why that was.

by PointlessWords k

He is asking the content as to why the poster cares less about starving Palestinian children that other starving children

Surely you think this is an ok line of conversation?

It's ok with me, but it's a pretty stupid question to ask when I said exactly why in this thread within the last two of days.

by Luciom k

korematsu was a leftist decision as every decision of the court was when 8 out of 9 judges were nominated by FDR

And that’s the era that Americans would like to return to. Seems like they need more leftism not less.

Anyway, what’s happening in Israel or Palestine at the moment?

Any more revelations from top Israelis about how they want to genocide people?

This is an interesting news piece:

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c2eem7...

75 year old Israeli woman who lived for decades near the border of Gaza and tried to further peace efforts. After being kidnapped from her home and taken hostage by Hamas, she now believes that peace between Israelis and Palestinians is not possible.

Better agree a Palestinian state soon so the genocide can stop.

Israel’s government has said that the IDF is committed to the destruction of Hamas, after the IDF’s top spokesperson said that the Gaza militant group is an “ideology” which cannot be eliminated.

“To say that we are going to make Hamas disappear is to throw sand in people’s eyes. If we don’t provide an alternative, in the end, we will have Hamas,” Rear Adm Daniel Hagari told Israel’s Channel 13 broadcaster.

His comments were quickly rebuffed by the office of Benjamin Netanyahu, whose cabinet has stated its Gaza offensive will not end until Hamas is defeated.

“The political and security cabinet headed by prime minister Netanyahu defined as one of the goals of the war the destruction of Hamas’ military and governmental capabilities,” his office said in a statement, adding “the IDF is of course committed to this.”

Who are the terrorists?

I don't understand why you think a video of 2 people killed by a drone proves any kind of malfeasance without elements about who the targets were.

if they were Hamas proper, collaborators, or in any way or form material supporters of Hamas, or the same for any other Palestinian terrorist group, they were fair targets

Well that's convenient.

We don't have any information about the pedestrians and it's going to be difficult now considering they're in a a thousand pieces and strewn across a wide area. Oh well, let's just call them Hamas and move on to the next targets.

why would i assume otherwise in a war?

You assume every pedestrian in a war is a member of the military? looool

These people seem to agree it's a genocide:

by jalfrezi k

You assume every pedestrian in a war is a member of the military? looool

i assume every pedestrian *that IDF spends a lot of money to kill* is associated with terrorists yes.

If they want to "genocide" they use that bomb in a packed area , not in the middle of nothing hitting exactly those 2, obviously.

Israel can't play in the heart of Europe because of "security risks", that's how non-violent pro-Palestine crowds are in Europe
