She eats similar to most college dropouts living in their parent's basement.

Chocolate milk is a huge staple for her

you better hope she never bumps into the chocolate milk king himself, el diesel, while out on the road or you may soon find yourself single

Appears to me she's going to go by Carhenge in Nebraska in a day or two. There's a campground next door, and the town of Alliance is 2-3 miles away. Big enough to have hotels, restaurants, groceries, etc.

Da fuq you awake at 3:49 am for? This race is affecting your sleep, sir!

Had a minor surgery/procedure a couple of days ago. Recovery has me up at odd hours changing bandages.

Ugh. My wife had a knee replacement last week so I’ve been witnessing this first hand.

I assume SPC is on her way to Edgemont tonight? Saw that's where the #2 and #3 guys stayed last night, one at a hotel and the other in a city park. See the same dynamic tonight. Props to camping guy, but this whole experience seems tough enough without getting a bed/air-conditioning break each night it's possible.

SPC is going to edgemont. It will be an early night and and early start with a big push planned. She wants to put a little distance between her and the guys behind her. I think you have to be zany to do this but double plus extra zany to add the camping aspect after completely depleting yourself all day

Yeah, miss me with camping in a public park with a somewhat decent bike.

@FW spcs final meal of the day. Restaurants all closed, she sez its close to 4k calories

she takes pix of her food to assist in calorie tracking

most elite thing about the ice cream is knowledge that it must be eaten before checkout 😀

That’s a lot of dairy. She must be generating some phlegm

I prefer the spicy chicken or the beef better than the plain chicken, but it might not have been a choice.

Spicy chicken might not be the thing when you’re 10-12 hours a day in the saddle

Spc is levels of badassery above >99% of the population.

Her diet makes sense but is giving me the beetus just thinking about it.

Feel better turtle- hope the recovery is going well and that your life hasn’t abandoned you to play pokers instead of working during your recovery.

In other news, I couldn’t bring myself to make the trip to Foxwoods / Mohegan / mgm.

First world problems but my MILs place doesn’t have ac and my wife loses her mind when we are there. Besides Waze showing the drive to be approx 2 hours, I couldn’t bring myself to leave her with the kids in her state. Maybe another time.

So skwid, what's with the guy in gray on the race tracker? I know the folks in white are no longer competing, but still continuing, but no idea what the gray icon indicates. He was in blue until yesterday.

The saddle sux but SPC is on the bike moving. I am fedexing a spare saddle to a hotel 300 miles down the pipe in nebraska.

SPC was never a big milk drinker but when she saw the ease of drinking dairy calories quickly hopped on board and dairy is a huge staple for her. She didnt quite finish her "meal" last night but was really happy with her caloric consumption after feeling underfed the day before and is feeling really strong and is looking to steadily increase her miles now that the surface they are riding on is faster and quite a bit easier.

As mentioned multiple times this route was cobbled together and had not been properly scouted. There is a reroute today for SPC in Chadron for 40 miles. This avoids private property and having to crawl under some barbed wire fences.

ETA @ garick I believe that grey is the color code for single gear. He is a total badass motherfcuker who is also a cancer surviver. I am uncertain why he has been not moving the past day and am hoping he is ok

Clown show! Truly amazing the leader is so far out in front when he's the guy who has been going through all the nonsense that others are getting re-routed around.

Yeah, I noticed that both JF and LS stopped really early yesterday. I know you said one of them had a tire problem, and at one point one of them was reported as moving 65mph, so I wondered if whichever that was got a ride back to the bike and whether that changed their status. No idea what the other one's deal might have been, though.

As you said, hope everything it OK for all.

The guy out in front is a record breaker and broke the trans am record a few years back and is totally next level

LS had the spoke problem. He hitched a ride to a town where there was supposed to be a bike shop. Unfortunately it was out of biz. He found a shop that has his spokes and is hoping to get it thismorning. He will then go back to where he got picked up and procede which i think is ballpark mile 1500. This will keep him in the competitive class. Hes a really good guy with a fantastic attitude. Here is his insta where he explains stuff

Clown show!

back when i thought i'd sign up to finish in dead last by a week or two, i found it very frustrating trying to get a planned route to know what was coming up and what kind of bike i needed (mountain/road/touring) and it was very casually put together and constantly changing and about 3/4 of the time when i requested info on the route i was sent a dead link so i eventually gave up

it wasn't until i got in touch directly with squid and spc that they gave me other resources that the organizers never once mentioned to me that i finally got some good info

seeing all these posts is giving me crazy fomo - no way i could have logistically made it anyway with the rona but still really regretting not being able to make it even though i know for certain how much this thing would be kicking my ass and how miserable i'd be for lengthy stretches of it

craziest rule imo was that in order to ensure nobody drafted - ie no team play - they wouldn't allow you to ride nearby to other bikers in the race - so you couldn't do it as a group of friends, even if you were spread out far enough on the ride that you couldn't draft

Thanks. So far, so good. If all continues to go well, I should be back to playing golf next week. Plus, we have our adult kickball league tournament next weekend.

Glglgl to SPC. Inspiring stuff. Look forward to seeing her on The Amazing Race someday.

Looks like LS packed it in. Sorry to hear. JF seems to be back on the road after a long break.

Put this post in the Louvre.

I got spcs saddle to fed ex and it will be in Norfolk NE by 10:30 am monday. Fed ex box weight was less than 2 lbs. Take a moment and guess the cost.

$175.55 seriously what the actual fcuk

Her front tire ended up bubbling. the bubble got quite large and needed to be replaced. Luckily she had the spare that she patched up. It took a few hrs but she is back in action and pressing hard.

Undfortunately LS has scratched from the event and spc is currently in 3rd overall 1st for womenz.
