The liberal media and the police Killing of Sonya Massey

The liberal media and the police Killing of Sonya Massey

I didnt give much thought on the title but I wanted to see if people actually took the time to watch the police body cam footage. I mentioned the media because nobody seems to want to talk about the obvious. This cop is still locked up as far as i know and everyone seems to be villainizing him. I actually took the time to watch the video in slow motion and you can clearly see that the lady 100% intended on throwing boiling water on him. There is no dispute on that yet nobody wants to say it for fear of upsetting an all too familiar narrative. If you watch the video you will clearly see that the woman drops to floor holding only her oven mitts. The pot is sitting on the counter. The officers arm obstructs the bodycam up until the last second where you see the woman holding the pot and throwing it at the cop. I just dont understand how in the freeist country in the world not a peep is being mentioned about this. You can say well the cop should have dropped back or ran and thats a valid argument but what you dont do is pretend that this lady was innocent when it seems to be an instance of a very troubled lady choosing to die at the hands of a cop. I will try to link the video below if that is cool with mods. It's not graphic. It will be the last 5-6 seconds and you obviously need to watch it in slow motion. It is the bodycam of the cop who shoots her. You have to realize he is only about 5 feet from her and his arm blocks a good chunk of the crucial 5-6 seconds. He is lucky his arm didnt block the whole thing or he would be spending the rest of his life in prison.

i honestly have nothing for you. You're just on a roll though.

You're an odd chap. Just a few minutes ago, in the other thread, you were lamenting that we should be locking up more people; yet here you are, in the next breath, lamenting that we did.

I see:

-cops ask her to turn it off cause we “don’t need a fire”
-she picks it up and starts pouring it out because they told her too.
-guy with his cam on backs up a couple steps and kinda laughs about backing away from her hot steaming water
-she says something like “I’ll bless you in the name of Jesus”
-shooter says drop it or I’ll shoot you in the face
-she picks up the pot and sort of kneels down and gets headshot.

Dunno man, seems pretty bad. Like they told her to pour it out then got freaked out when she did?

by Crossnerd k

HE told her to check on the pot and said “we don’t need a fire around here”. She went to the stove to turn it off.

He stepped back and she asked why, he said it was bc he was worried about the hot water; she said she’ll pour it out and moved to do so by picking up the pot and taking it to the sink

lets try this again. She turns off the burner. Why does she reach for oven mitts first? why does she take the pot from the stove and place it on the counter? I must be nuts really.

I admittedly didn't spend a lot of time on this, but I didn't see any intent to throw boiling water. Even if there was that doesn't justify shooting.

Plus, she was the one who called the cops over and didn't seem agitated.

Instead of shooting her, the cops should have locked her up for having such a messy house.

She says something to the officer that he responds to with "I'll shoot you in the ****ing face". I can't make out what it is.

Perhaps after her words the officer says something like, "Ma'am, please don't threaten us. Pour the water out and we'll continue with our conversation". De-escalate the situation, it's quite simple and every officer should be taught this.

"I rebuke you in the name of Jesus." After Massey repeats her statement at Grayson's prompting, Grayson draws his gun and replies, "You better ****ing not, I swear to God I'll ****ing shoot you right in your ****ing face."

OP doesn't seem to think much of pesky protections like constitutional rights:

by ShttsWeak k

you can also blame Miranda for our shitty crime stats.

So I don't know why he's so concerned about this particular citizen being locked up all of a sudden.

-she says something like “I’ll bless you in the name of Jesus”

She actually said "I rebuke you in the name of Jesus." Not exactly a blessing.

She was a paranoid schizophrenic. Insert Dirty Harry into that and you see the result.

by ShttsWeak k

easy for you to say.

Yeah, it is. It's easy for anyone that's not a psycho to find a better outcome than shooting a woman holding a pot of hot water.

She said “I rebuke you in the name of Jesus”. I spent part of my childhood in the South and heard this phrase frequently, especially from the religious black community. It literally just means I don’t like/agree with what you just said or did.

This cop murdered this woman because she told him she thought him being afraid of her having hot water was insulting and wrong, but she said it in a parlance he did not understand, and he murdered her for it.

“I rebuke you in the name of Jesus” implies no aggression or action on the person who says it. They’re not going to “do” anything to you. They’re saying they disagree with something you said or did. She didn’t like him implying she was crazy or going to hurt him. Which makes it so ridiculous for him to draw his gun on her for saying it and then screaming “You better ****in’ not!” Just a classic overly aggressive ignorant murderous response from a man who should never have been granted the authority.

Seems bad if you ignore the obvious. She brought them in the house so that she could dump boiling water on them. That seems to be very easily ascertained once you see the lady throwing the pot at him. what you are not realizing was that he sensed what was about to happen. You're suggesting his actions caused her to do what she did.

Thanks. So remember how after George Floyd there was all this talk about having different options for these situations, like therapists getting involved with people with mental issues and making house calls? This would've been a good time to trot that out.

Ok friend. The pot handles are HOT. So she needs OVEN MITTS so she doesn’t BURN her HANDS.

did you bother to take a minute to watch 5 seconds of video I linked? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills

She wasn’t even in the kitchen until they directed her to go deal with the pot of water.

dude take a minute and watch the link I posted 5 seconds in slow motion. watch from 28:16 to 28:22 in the slowest speed possible.

at 28:18 she raises her hands above her head holding only oven mits. She drops to the floor w/out the pot. The cops arm blocks the view for 2 seconds until you see her throwing the pot at him. people explain to me why she chose to throw the pot at him and please explain why you don't believe she had every intention of doing that in the first place?

OP completely ignoring everything that everyone ITT is telling him in order to spin his own narrative. Standard.

Yeah, she threw it when she was cowering on the floor and thought she was about to die in a last ditch effort to defend herself, which is what almost any human being is going to do in that spot.

It should not have reached that point. The cop did that.

I have every reason to believe she was just following his directions and pouring out the water until he completely lost his **** on her.

I am aware of that. Dont see how that disproves anything. You turn off the burner and the threat of fire is OVER. You grab oven mits when you want to do what she did.

Yep, even if you don't understand what that phrase signifies, you can tell it's not a deadly threat. A cop could ask, "Oh, what church do you attend?" or anything to keep her talking and show you're not going to hurt her.

Or as I just said in another post, hire other authorities proficient in dealing with people that are manic-depressive, crazy, however you want to describe it.

I don’t know how to help you understand a sequential progression of events or why you need to protect your hands from burns.

I give up.

ok thanks for taking the time to respond to me. I'm amazed when people think that fear for a cop = attacking the ****ing cop. It always seemed to me like not attacking the cop drastically increase your chances of survival but like I said I'm nuts for sure. You convinced me that I am nuts.

you dont need oven mitts to turn off a stove. If that boggles your mind than so be it. You act like putting a boiling pot of water on a counter top is SOP in kitchens.

You’re not nuts, friend. You’re just wrong in every possible way a person could be wrong about analyzing what we all see with our own eyes.

OP completely ignoring everything that everyone ITT is telling him in order to spin his own narrative. Standard.

Op sees a lady dumping a pot of hot water on a cop. Op suggests the cop caught on to what her intentions were and in the strongest possible terms tried to talk her out of it. Op sees a bunch of people saying that the cops actions were the reason why she chose to throw water at him. You have to admit it is pretty odd for me to argue what i'm arguing and for you guys to all say No it was all his fault. He made her throw the ****in water at him. Had he sweet talked her she would have choose not to do it.
