Diaby going to Saudi is pretty sick, he's only 25. I guess money > a good career.

No one's guaranteed a good career in contact sports so Saudi will always be an attractive option for some.

Pretty sure a lot of Europe and the US see them that way too. Buenos Aires was one third black 200 years ago before the huge influx from Italy and Spain reduced them to a trivial proportion.

Probably part of it.

There’s a reason that BsAs is routinely referred to as the Paris of South America. I’m not sure if I see that that, but it is one of the greatest cities I’ve ever been to.

And you are completely correct in how the Argentines view themselves. Many other South Americans roll their eyes a bit at the arrogance Argentines show them

Well yeah. Work for 3 years and retire forever. The dream.

Speaking of lazy ****ers, why has someone that isn't me not done the new thread?

Yea, someone really should. Not me but someone

if someone doesn't do it soon an american could do it and it'll be the soccer thread and devoid of an op because that american doesn't know the inside jokes and WAG culture because only the game penetrates the ocean not the other stuff

we never hear things like vardy's skittle vodka and nicknames like slabhead

I can do it again if ppl liked last years

Pull the trigger duckers, you'd be doing the Lord's work.

+1

Think a footnote of the winner is enough, then I want to read about Arsenal.

Just a few pointers here, you are the artist

I didn't like last year's much

Seeing as there isn't an Olympics thread yet,..

Utter madness in the Argentina v Morocco match.
2-1 to Morocco when Argentina equalise in 90+16. Morocco fans go mental and throw bottles and cups onto the field. Initially everyone thinks the ref whistles for full time but in actual fact he's taken the players off for their safety. The ground is emptied of fans so the match can resume
With the ground now empty of fans, the ref is sent to the VAR screen to be shown the Argentinian goal is actually offside. It's still 2-1.
Over an hour later, the match is restarted an the final 3 minutes is played out.
2-1 to Morocco.

Had the ref let Morocco kick off straight after the 'goal', it would've stood.

How long was the warmup for the final 3min is what I really want to know

They came out for a couple of minutes, but it wasn't taken too seriously.
The best bit was both teams already knew the goal had been disallowed, but the ref still came out for the restart, signalled for going to the screen, jogged over to the screen, watched the sequence again and then jogged back and signalled offside. Over an hour after the event. Some of the Moroccan players celebrated like they'd just scored. Top housery.

Was hoping there'd be more business done by now to include incomings and outgoings in the preview but I'll work with what I have. Prob throw it up some times this weekend.

TP: anything in particular you didn't like or think should be done differently?

Sorry it was a joke based on how terrible last season was for my team. Your OP was fine.

haters will say its not an actual trophy, but spurs are the champions of the J.LEAGUE WORLD Challenge 2024

I dont think it takes a hater to point out that the j league world challenge is obviously not an actual trophy. And i'm all for spurs

You're delusional. Much coveted like the Audi Cup and premier league golden boot and Spurs own player of the season.

When you haven’t won anything for decades then it’s a trophy.

Prepare the open top bus and ticket tape.

and reset the DaysSinceLastWonATrophy counter to 0

the large amount of hate from the haters itt proves that the j.league hello world challenge trophy is legit, otherwise why would they be so mad

I hope Ducky is taking notes for the OP

Tough for Kane to see Spurs win the big one a year after he leaves.
