I wonder what happens with those US-only sites that are called "WSOP" but use 888poker software. Maybe they will be changed to GG software? Or change names?

It seems fairly likely that when Caesars Digital's contract with 888poker expires in, IIRC, 2026, WSOP.com will switch over to the GG software; but there are regulatory hurdles to overcome. E.g., the Nevada Gaming Commission takes its own time in reviewing and approving software.

New rule for 2025 wsop. Players with a positive ROI lifetime banned from entering any wsop event

Huge for Negreanu being both the face of GG and winning the PPC this year. He’s going to print so much money off this. Hate him or love him, he played the personal brand game just about as optimal as anyone from the original TV era could.

I'm guessing the value of the actual Vegas WSOP is secondary for GG.

They'll likely roll out some sort of online wsop that is playable in various countries and is mainly designed to drive traffic to their platform. They can take on WCOOP as the preeminent online poker championship. They're likely thinking this will increase their online poker market share.

Doubling amount of bracelets with online events will certainly dilute value of a bracelet

Don’t really understand the bad vibes, if anyone is incentivised to make the WSOP even better it’s GG, they are legit AF.

So does throwing a bunch of $400, $600, and $800 events into the live schedule.

But this whole discussion presupposes that a bracelet has intrinsic value, apart from material and craftsmanship, that can be diluted.

Just in terms of bracelet counts and records. Not actual value.

Like changes they make in sporting leagues that results in previous records being crushed.

Yes GG is amazing. I think some are suspicious, because it's owned by Chyna.

And a lot of Americans haven't had the opportunity to play of it yet, so they don't get how great it is.

All the decisions they have made have been right. I doubt they will start handing out online WSOP bracelets.

I don't think anyone would even want one. A WSOP bracelet is very much a live poker accomplishment.

Right for GG or right for the player?

Ye that will be really fun. Can't wait to play 1000 NLH tournaments, a few PLO and a Short Deck.

They always have been and always will be a marketing gimmick.

There are already online bracelet events.

From what I've gathered from other people, GG poker has had a lot of cheating and people complain about the rake. I've never played on it as I reside in the US and play on PokerStars. When I heard the news that GG poker bought WSOP I immediately didn't feel good about it instinctively.

Ah right, I am just seeing WSOP online being promoted now for people in Europe, Americas, Mediterranean and Asia Pacific from August 18-September 20. US not allowed to play unfortunately.

And yes you win a bracelet, lol.

I would say that the widespread distrust of GG stems from the way they make it clear that they do not want winning players in their cash games, and their extraordinarily high rake at higher stakes.

Not only are there online WSOP bracelets, but GG already gives out a significant fraction of them.

Personally, I haven't had a problem there. 313k players online now, compared to Pokerstars 30k.

Their tourneys are very beatable, 8% rake, easily the lowest in the business, not bad at all.

GG ran this last year as well. Bert Stevens won the WSOP online main event run on the GG client last year while streaming it, winning over $2.7 million. It was epic.

Ah very cool.

I didn't realise they were WSOP events.

Why is there a ladies event online?

Why is there a ladies event online?

Don't know the point of the question honestly but I think stars also runs them during atleast some of the series. Maybe to get the ladies playing? Or to mimic the live wsop?

Like any of the reasons to have live female events even remotely apply online.

wtf do you care.

Is it better for poker that Jennifer Tilly has a bracelet.

I think so.
