2024 Summer Olympics from Paris
Amazed we don't have a thread yet. I will do up a fancier OP tomorrow but this will do for now as a placeholder.
Women's softball opens the games in roughly 5hrs with soccer/football, archery and some other sports starting before the opening ceremony Friday night Japan time.
PREDICTIONS: Rona causes a stupid amount of issues, I still waste approx 100hrs of coverage anyway.
40 golds, crushed overall and feel like we left a few golds on the table too
didn't need 5 in ping pong
Track already has the hurdles which is basically as silly as some of the swimming ones.
And of course the race walking is ridiculous.
In the early Olympics there was a standing long jump and a standing high jump and also (after checking, a standing triple jump).
USA benefited as they had the GOAT standing jumper Ray Ewry, who won 8 golds in standing jump events over 3 games between 00 and 08
IMO, the hurdles is much different than swimming. You're still running, but you have to jump over obstacles. They aren't asking you to run backwards. With half court basketball being a thing, hurdles and swimming seem fine as at least the top athletes still compete in them.
the KIERIN, which features a motorbike and where the goal appears to be to crash into as many people as possible
only half of the competitors suffered career-threatening incidents in the men's kierin final this year, a disappointingly low number
unfortunately i cant find a clip because the olympics committee seem to have the ability to vaporise anyone who tries to upload their stuff on youtube
here's a still shot from the women's competition, which should give you some sense of this event
Needs blood.
In the end weak finish to our Olympics. Think some heads need to roll in some various sports we were disappointing in. Basketball, football, kayaking, rowing, breakdancing - there is probably a few more too.
I finally saw some b-girl Raygun breaking clips. Beyond stupid.

No need to worry about the breakdancing. It's not returning in 2028.
T20 cricket, Squash and Flag Football come in. I'm guessing the Flag Football won't make it to Brisbane in 2032 though.
Intrigued what kind of players will make up the American flag football team
Strongman seems like it should be an Olympic sport.
dogs playing poker should be an olympic sport
Tom Cruise finally found someone he's taller than...
Nothing against RHCP but this is the lamest crap I’ve ever seen
Edit: ok maybe slightly less lame
dre and snoop still got it
