This thread is to discuss local professional poker players on their journey. Please refrain from mentioning the local youtube celebrity who plays poker.

Update April 2018

OK Vlogger Thread, we are going with some new parameters to try to make this the POSITIVE vlogger thread that it is supposed to be, not the AIDS vlogger thread where a few loonies ruin it for the rest. Note that 'positive' does not equal 'only positive', it means anything negative being said CAN'T be namecalling or wild, unsubstantiated speculation regarding any and all vloggers. Personal lives and anything aside from poker is OFF THE TABLE.

A new update March 2019:
NO ****ING POLITICS!
Also, not a fan but let's stop insulting Trooper's intelligence. He may not be the smartest guy out there but there is a difference between dumb and what you perceive as dumb. Yeah. You don't want to live his life and you don't agree with his playing style. That doesn't make a person dumb. He was smart enough to get ahead of the game and be a leader in the poker vlogging industry. He has been his own boss since, what, 2017? Now he is helping his GF run her business, possibly in part because he r
Plus, he's obviously doing something right to be snagging such stellar boobage.
Seriously there is noting worse than having to put your luggage 4 or 5 rows behind where you sit, and then not sitting in an aisle seat which means you basically have to wait for the entire plane to deboard before you can retrieve your luggage.
Rice does does everything first class why not fly that way. Plenty of space for his rice cooker.
With Trooper going big time legit business with the candy empire, this is a good time to point out his business name. SPRKLiSweets. Not only does the name not make sense for a candy shop, styling the capitalization and spelling is even worse.
Business tip. You want a name that's memorable, applies to the type of business you're running and easy to spell so people can find you online. How can you get word of mouth business when you have to rely on the people giving it to know how to spell your business name? "Ya this candy place is great. The name is Sparkly Sweets with no "a" and an "i" instead of a "y", all caps except for the last letter. What's sparkly about the candy? I don't know but anyways..."
You're going to do this in Vegas?
Just for sh*ts and giggles, stop by some of Diesel's favorite haunts - Horseshoe (you might call it Bally's), promo grinder central. And somewhere else he played - He played at Bellagio but he doesn't like it. I can't think of anywhere else. I watched only about half of his videos.
i live in vegas so yeah, ill try out horseshoe ive never played in their poker room, was just going to play at wynn one day but ill go there why not

I tried googling Sparkly Sweets and their business didn't show up. I thought it would be there but down lower. Nope.

The Nevada Secretary of State business tradename search has a Sparkly Cleaning but not a candy company:
Over my last 3 Vegas trips (total about 6 weeks) I played 348 hours with profit of $11492 for $33/hr. 90% of the hours were played at Wynn 1/3. I'm a rec who lives in a country without poker so rarely get to play anywhere else. I thought 10BB/hr is standard for a good player.

It started out as a cheap jewelry store. That's a "thing" among internet dreamers. Buy and resell cheap chinese jewelry. When they decided to add candy I guess they had an inflated view of the brand recognition of the name.

The few times I've played 1/3 at Wynn in the last couple years, it didn't play anything like 1/3 at other Vegas casinos. It was more like 2/5 than 1/3. I suspect it would be difficult to pull down that much in the promo-laden nitfests that Diesel used to frequent, playing 1/3.
In today's Diesel vlog, he inadvertently admits not only that he's a super nit but also horrible at game selection.
Says he lost $200 in a pot where a guy made a flush early in a session in Council Bluffs but didn't feel despondent about it and still felt like he could get winners unlike the AA hand at Red Rock where he felt he was buried and had no hope to get winners.
When you only play top 10% of hands, you just aren't going to get any action in the rooms he was playing in mostly in Vegas. But in Council Bluffs in a back woods game, people aren't as observant or don't care.
This just confirms he offers nothing to the game and is a parasite player that just vacuums up dead money. A dead seat. A black hole that gives no action. And no, whatever he thinks he offers in conversation doesn't count. He's always been a young OMC mute whenever I've played with him but after hearing whatever conversation he has, I'd probably prefer a mute Diesel.
Did he ever mention how much he won in the first week?

Please, that isnt close to a solid samplesize of volume. Sure, you may be good enough to beat the Wynn 1/3 for like 10 BB pr hour but you also may not be good enough, but a random 350 hour stinth isnt gonna give us conformation of this though.
You may have been on a heater on this stretch making your winrate unsustainable over a larger sample.

+1 to this.
Its players like him that makes the low stakes NL games in Vegas amongst the worst games in the country, and players like him that scares away rec players with disposable income every year. Its just a completely horrible exeprience in most instances to sit in 1/3 or even 2/5 games in Vegas.
Haven’t played with him in years but the few times he was at my table I don’t remember El Diesel saying much. But in his defense he wasn’t unfriendly to anyone either. Also, a lot of times nobody else was saying much either.

But that's the thing. He says he hates sitting in silent games. He hates no action, small pots games. But he does nothing to cultivate it. He just wants to leech off already established good games.
You want talkative games? Talk but talk about general stuff not stuff that only interests you like baseball or song trivia. He could say hi to everyone when he sits. He could say hi to every new player that sits down. Bring up topics most people at the tables enjoy like sports and sports betting. See who responds and it willing to engage.
You want action games? Open up your range and gamble in neutral or slightly -ev spots.
Nope. Diesel likes to talk when people bring too much food to the table to try to bum free food off them. Diesel likes to talk when it's to correct action or protocol at the table.
Make no mistake. The Vegas player pool quality got better when he left town.

why you gotta be such a troll. most people that come to Vegas to play poker don't play 1000 hours a year. he's sharing personal experience for a visitor. a lot of the visiting players have similar results.

Troll job part 2.
there are plenty of good experiences to be had in Vegas. I go 2-3 times a year and it is not a horrible experience. but I also don't play at Bally's or Caesars

Part of being a profitable poker pro is the social aspect and making it fun for the rec players to stack off. You would think in almost 10 years of being a pro he would have become better at it. Plus he has a damn vlog. Everyone wants to play against vloggers and beat them.

Bally's used to be one of the softest games in town. I played at Caesars almost exclusively during the WSOP in 2017 and probably put in 300 hours that summer. I easily made $30+ an hour there.
I really think Bally's - you may call it Horseshoe - has been hurt instead of helped by the closure of PH, Flamingo and Harrahs. There were a lot of nits at those places but they were spread out. Now they all play at one place. Plus there was something about their old colorful chips. Created action.

Diesel has two modes, mute ymc (middle aged-MC?) and chatterbox rice but he doesn’t seem to needle or ever be mean spirited at the table. Aside from begging for food and trivia questions, his table talk is fine. Diesel is in no way the worst personality in llsnl games, plus whenever he takes a beat or stops getting action he leaves, opening the seat up for a potential rec tourist.
Obviously, 300/400 hours at low stakes isn’t a large sample but for up to 1/3 500 cap with no promo like Wynn, I think it’s fine to give the benefit of the doubt if the player mentions his biggest pots and/or games where a ding dong throws a party. “I made 10bbs an hour over 300 hours and my biggest pot won was $1300” is much different than having won multiple 2k plus pots or someone shoving all-in for an hour or two that you wreck in that same time frame.

I dont care if most people that come to Vegas dont play a 1000 hours or more:its still not proof of a players true winrate if he plays a stinth of 300 hours.
Like i dont doubt that he is a good player or trying to attack his game or anything like that, its just not that relevant regarding the winrates debate we had going on.
I'm just glad to hear Rice has finally gotten over what has become known as 'The Red Rock Massacre'.
Lol, the whole debacle about that hand where he lost like half a buyin with AA and proceeded to a total meltdown on camera has to be some of the most phatetic stuff ive seen from any pokerplayer.

It wasn't just the meltdown. It was the realization that being stuck over $100 for him is buried and he's unlikely to get winners. Someone like him would have to win at least fifteen $20 pots to overcome the rake and get even. In other words, getting QQ+ fifteen times. So daunting was the task that Diesel rightfully gave up early and didn't try.
