English Premier League 2024-25

2024-2025 EPL Preview

Man City have set another record with 115 charges of financial shenanigans and also managed to win a 4th PL title in a row becoming the first team to do so narrowly beating out arsenal who took it to the last day this year. They accomplished this by rattling off an absurd 33 games unbeaten in all competitions making it 6 titles in 7 years for the Citizens.

Some pictures from the aftermath:

Golden boot winner:
Erling Haaland

Golden Glove:
David Raya

Player of the Season:
Phil Foden

PFA Young Player of the Season:
Cole Palmer

Season Preview:
Man City and Arsenal have distanced themselves as the clear favorites for the title. With Arsenal closing the gap and beating Man City on xG could this be the year that they get over the line? There are some large error bars on Liverpool with klopp retiring and Salah getting older, will they be able to insert themselves in the title race again like they did last year?

For top 4/5 can Aston Villa repeat last years feat thanks to the normal culprits being completely incompetent or will one of Chelsea/United get their **** together finally (hopefully not)? Spurs went full Spurs throwing the match vs City to stop arsenal from winning the title while costing themselves top 4 in the process, will they be in the race again despite doing no business at all in the summer to address squad needs?

The relegation fight as usual has the 3 promoted teams as favorites to go back down, but with PSR looming in the background could we see a surprise team relegated?

The thing that I really dont get is no retrospective punishment for Haaland for deliberately throwing the ball off Gabriels head after the goal (https://x.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1838...). Video of incident here https://x.com/MenInBlazers/status/183791....

VAR reviewed it at the time as well and deemed nothing further required. I'd love to see what they would have done if a Liverpool or Arsenal player had done that to a City defender. But ok, it was decided it was fine Looking forward to watching some ball off head throwing celebrations in other games this season.

Who dis?

Anyone got more links or different angles? Never gonna get tired of watching this.

Who dis?

Raya was limping after the game on Sunday

Also was surprised he took Saka off at HT instead of Martenelli but that was prob just tactical. Didnt Calafiori take a knock during the game also? Likely wrong on all accounts.

This is 10/10 shithousery and he should be given a 10% raise in his contract for this.

If you want a serious answer, it seems clearly a yellow card which can't be reviewed.

Yeah fair

saw a stat that said Raya managed to take 9 minutes off the clock just with goal kick time wasting..

Mou was blasted for this back in his prime. I'm sure he is proud of the heritage he left behind

Talking of faulty logic - if someone had asked you 10-15 years ago if you thought referees were fixing matches for Barcelona, you'd have firmly said no, and as we know now you'd have been totally wrong.

Anyway I don't think it's all about City bribery. The refs almost all being from the North and having certain biases because of that is a factor too.

Nobody is saying corruption is impossible in sport. People just like to have evidence before believing in something.

Comparing Barcelona bribing people to make decisions FOR THEM is also not the same as referees making decisions AGAINST ONE CLUB, which is what Arsenal fans seem to believe.

Northerners all famously being pro Man City and anti-Arsenal specifically obviously, but not Spurs who you claim get treated the other way by refs.

Spurs and Arsenal are clubs with very different histories and supporter demographics, as you know.

Lilywhites vs first club to field an XI with no English players who dared to have a French manager

Working class suburbs vs inner city cosmopolitans

Trying hard not to spell it out to you here because I shouldn't have to but Arsenal are the average Northern ref's worst nightmares encapsulated in a football team.

It was brought to my attention that the keeper in goal for us yesterday was born in 2008. Travesty

It was brought to everyone’s attention, many times, in commentary.

Oh didn't watch in the Ingrish commentary.

Raya might be out for the weekend too which is a rut roh

Neto should be ok for home vs Leicester. Not too worried as long as Raya fully recovers soon. Ethan's played himself into contention for a start imo assuming no ill effects from last night. MLS looks a real player too and has been somewhat in Ethan's shadow, offers great versatility in LB and CM, but maybe needs more minutes before starting PL games.

Even if you get a Northern ref?

City complain about "dark arts", the hypocrites, and all the know-nothings line up to agree with them.
