2024 MLB Season Thread
Nobody wants these games to start more than Mannfred.
Shohei just spoke to the media for the first time. In a prepared statement, he said:
-He never bet on baseball, or any other sport,
-He didn't know that Ippei lied to him, and that Ippei took the money from Shohei's account to pay his gambling debts
-He'll continue to cooperate with the investigation, and play as the investigation plays out.
If all that's true, then this is probably the best possible outcome for his reputation going forward. He's a naive star athlete who trusted the wrong person. It happens.
In any event, these games are about start! Last year, just like we all predicted, "Someone Else" came on strong in the playoffs, as the Texas Rangers defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks for the World Series. Can that happen again?
T-Mobile is giving away a free MLB.tv subscription ($149 value) to T-Mobile subscribers starting TOMORROW (Tuesday 3/26 - April 1). Don't miss out.
So speaking of gambling, here are the current best odds for the World Series you can find, from Vegas insider!
no joke. When I used to play a lot more poker I would often pinball back and forth between MB and the Luxor poker room (back when they had one). during the day he was always at this one particular sports memorabilia store that was a couple of shops up from that Minus5 Ice Lounge frozen drinks place.
he was a great player no doubt. RIP.
100% We've all crossed paths, I did that walk a few times around those times. There's a 2p2 vegas meetup planned around Thanksgiving if anyone wants in with people cooler than me.
Pete's side will get the last laugh as baseball will be seen as unforgiving and hypocritical and vindictive. I guess they will wait about 3 years and announce something, "Yeah, he's eligible. End of ban."

Again he bet on the team he was managing. Bonds and Clemens were just the best players of their era.
Did he bet on them to lose?
Nope.
It was like a jockey betting on his horse. - his own words.
The whole gambling **** is a joke these days. At Citi Field there's an actual Caesars Sportsbook Lounge. MLB teams partner with sportsbooks and they print money while doing so. Pre-game broadcasts encourage you to play the analysts' "SGP of the Day". A lot of us think Ohtani is a degenerate sports gambler himself. You know what? He probably is and I don't ****ing care one bit.
Sports Gambling has turned into an epidemic in the USA in the last few years. Problem gamblers have a sportsbook at their fingertips 24/7/365. Did Pete Rose have a problem? Yes, he was human. We all know either a close family member or friend who has or had a significant problem with gambling. He shouldn't have been ostracized and vilified, but instead forgiven and understood. Sure, take away his ability to manage games, but don't take away everything he earned in those 3,562 games.
He said it himself, he may have "cheated baseball" breaking the rules, by betting on games. But he never cheated one single fan in all of those 3,562 games, giving it his all, with a passion and love of the game that few have attained in the history of baseball.
He has the most hits of all time, the most wins as a player all time. Charlie ****ing Hustle man.
He may not have been "the best" of his ERA but when MLB had their team of the century, he received the loudest ovation from the crowd.
RIP Charlie Hustle, I hear God is waving you around on 3rd base, you get to slide on home.
That argument doesn't work.
Unless he had the exact same bet every single game, there's going to be a conflict of interest when he doesn't bet on a game, or has less money than usual on a game.
There's a reason you can't bet on sports as an active player, coach, or referee. It makes the game rigged, and no one wants to watch a rigged game.
Horrible argument from the start. Jockeys pull up all the time for the long game when they know it isn't their day. Rose 100% had the baseball acuity to do that as well to favor him in future spots.

You don't know much about horses or understand why Rose as a mgr could corrupt current or future games on his decisions.
Also, no hate I showed my betslip for the Mets a couple of posts ago.
Nothing like the smell of PLAYOFFS in the morning!
CJ Abrams, All-inMclovin, and Pete Rose walk into a bar . . .
RIP Pete.
My dad came here in the 70s for grad school in Cincinnati, barely knew any English, had no idea what baseball was but he worked in the faculty club at the University and they always had sports on so he tried to learn it to fit in. Ended up a Big Red Machine fan, makes me play it as a kid even though I hated it. Broke my thumb catching in 6th grade and haven’t been able to bend it right even since. True American experience.
I got one of those signed photos from the Vegas hallway for him a few years back. Pete apparently includes his hit total with every signature. What a dude.
I can't believe there's playoffs in a few hours and the Royals are in it.
Keep the chatter down in here guys.
Why on this planet would Houston pinch run for Alvarez down 3-0 man on 2nd 0 outs in the 9th
His run means nothing and you lose his bat if they extend the game
Also not gonna lie if I had as many hits as Pete Rose my hit total would be there when I sign credit card receipts
Ragans is so good
That would have an interesting play at the plate give how hard the ball was hit.

I think there was a much better chance they would have let him in if he handled things differently. He did it so often, lied about it so long and when he finally admitted to betting on baseball, he always looked like he wasn’t sorry at all and didn’t give a ****.
Mets are going to the World Series
Los Tigres son fuerza.
Who here is a member of The Church of Mr. SKUBZZZZZZ !?!?
Don’t give home field to the league that wins the all-star game. Home field is so important.
So why are all these road teams winning again? It isn’t unusual to see in the MLB playoffs. Seems like home field isn’t that big of an advantage in baseball.
Tigazzzzzzzzz
Yankees, O's,Bosox, Tigers(push), Pads all had better record on the road this season.
Why did Houston get ****ed with weekday day games? They are a top 10 team media market fifth of teams in the playoffs. 2nd of teams in the WC games. **** Manfred, **** all the biased NYY League execs at the very. Literally 7 of 8 grew up as hardcore Yankee fans or employees.
Also, back up the truck on Pads and Michael King destroying Braves tonight.
