Moderation Questions
The last iteration of the moderation discussion thread was a complete disaster. Numerous attempts to keep it on topic failed, and it became a general discussion thread with almost no moderation related posts at all. And those that were posted were so buried in non-mod posts that it became a huge time drain on the mods to sort through them. Then, when off topic posts were deleted posters complained about that.
This led to the closing of the mod discussion thread, replaced by the post report/pm approach. This has filtered out lots of noise, but has resulted at times in the General Discussion Thread turning into a quasi-mod thread. This is not desirable, but going back to the old mod thread is also not a workable option.
Therefore, I have created this new moderation thread, but with a different purpose and ground rules than previous mod threads. The purpose of this thread is to provide a place for posters to pose questions to the mods about how policies are applied; to bring to the mods attention posts they think are inappropriate and reach the level of requiring mod action; and for mods to communicate to posters things like changes or clarifications to policies, bannings, etc.
Now let me tell you what this thread is NOT a place for. It is not for nonmoderation related posts, even if the discussion originates from a comment in in a mod related post. It is not for posters to post their opinions about other posters or whether a poster should be banned. It is not to rehash past grievances about mod decisions from months or years ago. The focus of this thread will be recent posts that require action now. Or questions about current policies and enforcement.
So basically, this is a thread to ask mods questions. Which means, pretty much that only mods should be answering those questions. If a poster asks why a particular post was deleted or allowed, only a mod can answer that. Everyone else who wants to jump in with their opinion or their mod war story needs to stay out of it. It just increases the noise to signal ratio and does nothing to answer the question.
Everyone needs to understand that this thread has very different rules than the old mod thread and any other thread. Any non-moderation post will be deleted on sight. Not moved to the appropriate thread, just deleted. So don't waste your time crafting a masterpiece post about wars or transgender issues or the presidential election and then post it in this thread. It will be gone. Also, this isnt a thread for general commentary about our mods performance. Posting "browser sucks as a mod" or any such posts that don't actually ask about a policy or request a mod action will be deleted. Everyone is entitled to their opinion about the moderation of this forum. But this thread isnt for complaining about mods. You are free to go to the ATF forum and make your concerns about modding in this forum there.
So with that intro, this thread is open for those who need to bring questions about mod policies or bring inappropriate posts to the mods attention. Again, it is NOT a thread for group discussions about other posters or for other posters to answer questions directed to mods.
We'll see how this goes. If you have what you feel is an open issue raised in the General Discussion Thread, please copy that post or otherwise reintroduce the issue here.
Thanks.
You want people modded here for indirect name-calling? I don’t think you will last much longer if they agree to mod this way.
calling people garbage? damn thats crazy man...
unrelated:
only a few places worldwide can attract the best and the brightest.
everyone else gets the garbage...
Yes Italy needs a lot of immigrants.
But not all people are the same.
Given the huge demand to immigrate into the EU, we should filter.
If after filtering hard we don't have enough, we should slightly lower the threshold, up until we fill the quota we need.
Garbage coming from boats is never going to make the cut however
I think Playbig is taking liberties now with the election rigging diarrhea he is spreading with a fat brush across multiple threads on a daily basis. He doesn't back up his allegations with any real sources or evidence, and is completely impervious to being called out on his bullshit since he just ignores any posts doing so. I don't see any reason why he shouldn't be contained to the conspiracy thread. 2020 election fraud was deemed to have been containment worthy and I don't see why 2024 election fraud should be any different unless there is actually something to substantiate it beyond his ramblings and unsourced, unexplained screenshots of spreadsheets or whatever. At the very least he should be required to demonstrate that he has money riding on the same conspiracies he's spreading here, and he's not just propagandising.
In the alternative, where he is continued to pollute every single thread with the posting equivalent of industrial effluent, I don't see why he should be subject to the same protections as normal posters against being insulted and figuratively spat on. He should not get that benefit if he wants to continue posting lies and propaganda and ignore callouts. I certainly don't think SRM should have been banned for snapping and calling him a lying POS or whatever.

Don't worry bro, PB is not going to give up on you or me or 2+2 or America or the world until we are awoken. All will be revealed in due time.
Surely it’s better he’s preaching fascism in a tiny internet forum than out in the real world to impressionable people?

Oh, ok got it. So since I'm not "normal", you should be allowed to call me a scumbag and spit on me because you don't agree with what I share? And you truly believe this would be a fair policy?
The link I shared was of Putin accusing the DS of trying to rig the election via a verified X user. There's an ignore button, if you don't like/agree with certain posters, then hit ignore or just scroll past them.

No. It's specifically because you post things that are factually incorrect, get called out on it, ignore it when you get called out on it, then continue to repeat those same things. You also ignore any inconvenient requests for clarification or additional information. That is called "lying".
If you engaged with people who debunk your bullshit and/or stopped repeating stuff that has been debunked 1000 times, I wouldn't be making this complaint. There are plenty of people here I disagree with, but you're the first one in 10 years that I've made a point to complain about to request you get moderated. Maybe it's a "you" thing.
Instead of spending every waking moment trying to skirt the rules, maybe try working on not being an utterly horrible human being.
I wasn't trying to skirt any rule, the topic was people calling trump voters garbage or agreeing with that claim, and I wanted to know (still want to know as I got no clear answer although crossnerd wrote almost clearly she didn't commit in full) what the rules are (including if there is asymmetrical treatment of right-wing voters vs other groups).
maybe try reading.
and btw personal insults to other posters are against the rules afaik, can a mod confirm/deny that? quite bizzarre that you feel like you can insult me unprovoked here, in the mod thread.

Great post. Ignore feature lets everyone be the mod they want.
D2, see this post
I honestly think that there's a real disconnect between thinking or fearing of these particular things happening and actually believing them to be true. I think that's somewhat consistent with most conspiracy theories. Since 2016, here on 2+2 and other places, a large % of people have felt very passionately one way or another about who was going to win the presidency and their thought process almost often seemed irrational and was always deeply caked in heavy bias.
I asked because I wasn't sure
Our friend f72 made this post because he wanted to read and respond to this guy. Why interfere with f72's fun?

For the record, it isn't unprovoked. You insinuated right before you got banned that it was no big deal that people like me got flooded and lost everything in a hurricane because somehow we made a lot of money on our real estate in the past so it was OK. Losing pretty much everything we own is pretty bad and to have someone like you make light of it shows their true colors.

uh? the topic was people who believed conspiracy theories about FEMA and stuff, no idea what you are referring to here.

It’s funny how many times the guy that calls for mass extermination of his “enemies” cries about for help for the guberment when the majority is against him. Just move to a more friendly state.
Sure. Taken to its logical conclusion, this line of reasoning would have mods doing nothing but removing spam and leaving the rest as a free for all. And I'm happy to post on a forum where this is the case. But I post here, and this is not such a forum, and while there are rules being enforced I'd occasionally like to make my view on those rules and enforcement decisions heard along with everyone else. I very rarely comment on moderation, only when it's something I feel quite strongly about.

And he's welcome to in the conspiracy containment thread, as was the status quo for quite a while. Plenty of posters, me included, engaged with Playbig in the containment thread.
lollololol.
If we came for him and no one protested,
If we came for you and no one protested.
This place is full of Nazis apparently
My alternative was just to moderate those who respond to him proportionately more lightly. Let me call him a scumbag and SRM call him a lying POS and you won't hear any more complaints from me.
The problem is that the worst actors on the internet migrate to the places where they are allowed to participate. If you moderate according to the rules of 8chan, you eventually end up with a forum that is a rotting sewer. Then all the reasonable people leave because they don't want to spend time in a rotting sewer.

That's what everyone always says and imo it's false. There are a few 8chan/4chan bogeymen that people point to that don't prove anything. There's not an army of any kind of poster waiting to post on 2p2 politics. And if the few people who I think fit your description around here were gone, the "reasonable people" would very quickly get bored and leave.

There are a lot worse people on the internet than anyone who is posting here currently.
I am quite confident that I could start a website or forum that attracted a lot of traffic. All you have to do is promote the site as a welcoming place for overt white nationalism and racism.
You may believe that 2+2 is too old and too small to be subject to the dynamics that affect other traffic on larger platforms. Maybe that's right.
I don't know if I'm reasonable or not, or representative of anyone else, but I left POG because of a horrible poster and I'm pretty sure I'm done with this forum because of one as well.
