Edit: RULES FOR THIS THREAD
Posting guidelines for Politics and Soci...
These are our baselines. We're not reinventing the wheel here. If you aren't sure if something is acceptable to post, its better to ask first. If you think someone is posting something that violates the above guidelines, please report it or PM me rather than responding in kind.
To reiterate some of the points:
1. No personal attacks. This is a broad instruction, but, in general, we want to focus on attacking an argument rather than the poster making it. It is fine to say a post is antisemitic; it is not okay to call someone an antisemite over and over. If you believe someone is making antisemitic posts, report them or PM me. The same goes for calling people "baby killers" and "genocide lovers". You are allowed to argue that an action supports genocide or that the consequences of certain policies results in the death of children, but we are no longer going to be speaking to one another's intentions. It is not productive to the conversation and doesn't further any debate.
2. Racist posts and other bigoted statements that target a particular group or individuals of such groups with derogatory comments are not allowed. This should not need further explanation.
3. Graphic Images need to be in spoilers with a trigger warning.
4. Wishing Harm on other posters will result in an immediate timeout.
5. Genocidal statements such as "Kill 'em all" etc, are no longer permissible in the thread.
If anyone has any questions about the above, please PM me. I don't want a discussion about the rules to derail the content of this thread. If anything needs clarifying, I will do that in this thread.
Please be aware this thread is strictly moderated
There was a Parliamentary election in 2006. Hams won 42% of seats; not even a majority. The way Parliamentary elections work, the party with a plurality of votes doesn't get to violently kick everyone else out in a war that kills hundreds of people; and then never have another election.
That is a fascist coupe.
there was a presidential election in the USA in 2016 and Donald Trump won 46%. not even a majority.
many such cases!
hamas stole power huh? damn, rip the "all these 10 year olds deserve to die because they voted for hamas ~20 years ago" talking point that youse guys been saying for 13 months now

Hamas are like the dumbest people ever. they won an election and then decided to do a violent coup to take the power that they already had won.
like imagine if Donald Trump just did a Jan 6th in a few months just for fun. maybe for the love of the game. gotta respect that tbh.
Hamas was like, we are evil terrorists so we renounce the elections that we just won and will now take over in a violent coup bc we love doing violent coups and hate elections even if we win.
In other news, it is being reported that Hezbollah members are fleeing Lebanon en masse and are being actively recruited by Assad in Syria and Iraq Shiite areas to repatriate there.
It would be an amazingly positive development for the entire region if enough Hezbollah members leave that it ceases to exist as a major player in Lebanon.
Although this would certainly repudiate the conventional wisdom that Israel must appease the IRI and its proxies, and taking the fight to them will only make them stronger.
What ever happened to the bank vault at the hospital? Did it get bombed?

It could be great for lebanon although it could also go horribly wrong. Either way the problem hasn't gone away.
The extremists are going to reorganise with a strengthened base and a focus on new technology unless there's a politcal solution.

They haven't had elections since taking power nearly 20 years ago so evidently they don't like elections
It doesn’t say hooligans it says Israelis… why else would this be good? I assume they aren’t talking about Israeli arabs, although who knows maybe the anti-zionists think there is no such thing.
There’s a long tradition in Europe of banning teams or fans from certain countries because of the behaviour of their fans. I’m glad to see Israel is observing this fine tradition by self excluding its fans to avoid the Paris Muslim population, of which there are many. from feeling terrorised, as happened in Amsterdam.
It would be better to just ban those responsible for all the racist attacks, but I suppose that would mean Israel admitting they were responsible. This way Israel can keep pretending its fans were the victims not the instigators…which some were, but that’s beside the point.
Unfortunately this is advisory only, so im quite apprehensive about this event.

A VW Beetle with its roof down?
update on the Trump assassination plot
It wasn't at the hospital. It was under the hospital, and the entrance was from another location. And nothing happened. British media did some gaslighting where they investigated the hospital itself, which had no access to the bunker, which was already known.
And no one actually investigated where Israel said the entrance to the bunker was. Just some gaslighting and some moving on. And no, Israel did not bomb a densely populated hospital complex outside Daniyeh just to destroy some money, as this is not what they do.
Anyways, Hezbollah's money hoard was stolen from the Lebanese and Iranian people to fund the IRI using Lebanon as a staging ground to fight Israel. If the Lebanese and Iranian people are fine with this, it isn't Israel's job to stop their own governments from stealing their money to waste on unproductive, irrational wars.
If Arabs and Iranians want their situation to improve, at some point they have to take accountability, make better decisions, and hold their leaders to higher standards. If they continue to allow repressive authoritarian theocrats with tribal, zero sum illiberal value systems to rule them, they will continue to get poor results.
The quest for Hezbollah buried treasure continues!
Speaking of captured treasure, Israel is confiscating so many weapons from Hezbollah that they are considering forming special units equipped with these weapons.
well maybe then they can hold a few villages
Still slightly annoyed about the fabled Nazi Gold Train turning out never to have existed.
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza as “genocide” in some of the harshest public criticism of the country by a Saudi official since the start of the war.
Speaking at a summit of Muslim and Arab leaders the prince also criticised Israeli attacks on Lebanon and Iran.
In a sign of improving ties between rivals Riyadh and Tehran, he warned Israel against launching attacks on Iranian soil.
Saudi's de facto leader was joined by other leaders present in calling for a total Israeli withdrawal from the West Bank and Gaza.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia's foreign minister said it was a “failing of the international community” that the war in Gaza had not been stopped, accusing Israel of causing starvation in the territory.
