Yep, nice job.

Cats is a Hit musical, its most famous song being Memory. I toyed with so many different words, but landed on this one due to blockers.

You guys CRUSHED the Wood clue - great job picking up Ed Wood for Director. I wasn’t worried about Torch or Window, and knew you’d eventually get to Square. Square is a common carpentry/woodworking term for straight, often 90°. A carpenter’s square is a triangular tool that is used as a guide for straight cuts.

The reason the Cats clue was unlimited was to deny n-1 (Window) and lead you to 2nd on the list (Square). You guys somehow talked yourselves into believing there was no better 1-clue for the word “memory” than “Cats,” which was an interesting development. In the endgame, when an unlimited clue does not 100% nail a single word on the board to communicate that it’s clueing that word and that word alone, it means don’t guess the first word on your list.

Other than misinterpreting my 2nd clue, you guys made it easy and we were never under any real pressure. Nice work!

Great opener gave us a cushion for the round 2 miss.

Was blitz for sack+earthquake and Nich just didn't know about the WW2 blitz so he went unlimited instead of a 3 or 4 clue?

And after blue missed that top of list was wrong for unlimited I clued unlimited bc top of list was wrong but we still guessed it anyway

But ibd’s situation was clear because he was closer to the end so it clearly denied n-1

Our situation was a Hail Mary bc I couldn’t connect our words

Blitz was sack, stadium, alien

I was gonna go Hines for Hines Ward but didn’t think you’d know he was non-American for alien

Tulips was sack; that’s why it was plural instead of singular

It was a reach but I had nothing better to connect any 3 words together this round

Just a tough board

Unlimited was to get death, 2nd word on list

But again it’s less obvious and more a Hail Mary when we need 4 words bc unlimited could mean 2+2 or 3+1 and harder to gauge than ibd’s where it’s either 2+1 or 1+2

I hoped because blitz hits air that it would be a hint that it’s 3+1 so skip air, but that’s not a super common thing here
