Trump 2nd term prediction thread
So, looks like Trump not only smashed the electoral college, but is looking on track to win the popular vote, which seems to be an unexpected turn of events, but a clear sign of the current temperature in the country and perhaps the wider world.
Would be interested to hear views on how his 2nd term will pan out from both sides of the aisle - major happenings, what he's going to get done, what he's not going to get done, the impact of his election on the current conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza, whether his popularity will remain the same, wane, or increase, etc.
A bit of an anemic OP, I know, just interested to hear people's thoughts now that the election uncertainty is over.
Sure did. You were acting like one.
Nah. It was accurate. You were acting like an infant. If you think I was acting like an infant then, fine. I don't care. I'm just glad it pissed you off. Job done. No one on this board deserves it more than you do.
Biden has one last chance to protect America from Trump's attempts to skirt the law
Biden should order background checks of Trump’s Cabinet picks
The MOU sets out procedures for requesting background investigations of nominees
“at the request of the president.” It doesn’t say the president-elect, it says “president.” That’s you, Joe.
As for the transition act, it reads as applying to people “…the President-elect has identified” for high-level positions.
Well, the president-elect has already publicly identified those people. And Biden should respond.
The point would be to force Trump’s hand.
Drop the reports on his desk and let him go forward with nominees who potentially are either found
through investigation to be unqualified, at risk of compromise, or even a national security threat.
Let Trump order White House security clearance adjudicators or his hand-picked
agency heads to grant security clearances to seemingly unqualified candidates.
Let the Senate affirm nominees after they’ve read details about the kind of
people who may lead the DOJ or serve as the director of national intelligence.
Didn't they already investigate Gaetz? Why hasn't Merrick Garland charged him yet?
Seem gaetz resign because results of investigation was suppose to become public the next day.
Since he resign , it’s becoming pointless .
Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., resigned from Congress on Wednesday “effective immediately,” according to House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., just hours after President-elect Donald Trump tapped him as the next attorney general—and reportedly days before the House Ethics Committee was preparing to release a report on sexual misconduct and drug allegations against him.
For the reason not being condemn , I guess in garland times , normal justice ask enough evidences that might not been enough in gates case ?
But fwiw, lot of smoke around gaetz in that area and even one of his political allies got condemn for those things serving 11 years .
From my pov , there is surely better republicans appointees that could do the job but since trump needs to close all those cases against him …
Nothing better to save your own life by asking to someone you already saved their life with .
Well, let's hear your specific problems with them then?
that's so gorgo
just drops a link for others to read, not having read it himself, not realizing the "methodology" page doesn't actually provide the methodology, just gives you pictures of 10 rando faces who supposedly helped determine the rankings.
when you try to download the report to see if they explain the methodology there, you are required to give your name, email, company name, and first born child to Corteva Agriscience who clearly paid for the report's production and results.

That's their idea of what science is

This is very smoke and mirrors. If an investigation was done and this guy did illegal stuff, he gets charged. Doesn't matter whether he resigned or not.
Clearly there's nothing there and people are stirring up a fuss for political reasons.
Hey we did this big investigation and found out this dude had sex with multiple children. But he recently quit his job, so we won't release our investigation and the authorities shouldn't charge him for those crimes.
Weird.
If you were wondering how Trump intended to solve the problem of sanctuary cities/counties/states, which would make it really hard to deport any significant number of illegals, wonder no more.
This looks like a decent blueprint to achieve that legally
/
That is why I recommend the president order the Department of State to cease issuing student visas to all foreigners who seek to matriculate at universities and schools located in sanctuary jurisdictions. Foreign students overwhelmingly attend universities in sanctuary zones, and they bring billions of dollars to pay tuition and living expenses ($40 billion a year nationally).
This steady stream of foreign students represents the Achilles’ heel of California, New York and Massachusetts—all three states representing major redoubts for non-cooperation with ICE. California alone has over 237,000 foreign students, and almost all of them pay the full tuition costs at the state’s overpriced universities.
Therefore, Trump should instruct his consular corps at U.S. embassies and consulates to cease issuing visas to all students seeking to enroll in universities in all 13 sanctuary states. The outrage will roar from China to India to Mexico. The visa pause should continue until ICE certifies the return to full cooperation of all state and local authorities on all deportation matters.
/
I suppose this could be extended to visas for workers in those states
So is the problem that these kids pay for university and then don't want to leave?
No, that would be a way to convince sanctuary areas to stop being sanctuaries because those people pay a ton of money into public coffers.
It's about how to strongarm states and localities that refuse to apply the law to stop doing that.

Sounds like the federal govt sticking their nose where it doesn't belong. Let the states decide, right?

States can't decide about immigration policies no, specifically one of the rare enumerated power of the federal government, unlike many others which the federal government unconstitutionally developed through bipartisan effort, with the democrats being always worse at that than republicans.
Well costing the states and the federal government billions in revenue to get your way doesn't seem optimal. Must be some better solutions than that. Maybe build a wall

Hope would be the threat is enough and you don't have to enact it, and those rogue localities and states that hate the constitution stop their shenanigans
Couple of interesting facts:
1) American children are among the most unhealthy in the developed world.
2) American children are the most highly vaxxed in the world.
Draw your own conclusions from that.
My conclusion is that you, very unsurprisingly, don't understand the difference between correlation and causation.
Well I have a feeling those 3 states you mentioned in your op are net federal money donors. Maybe concentrate on helping the states that are in the negative getting federal money. Why you want to mess with your best customers? Doesn't sound like good business.
You are the one that made the claim that the source is compromised in some way. Not my job to prove that claim for you.
In fact, you wondered if it was the same people that said we should be double masking. You were never serious about this, you were just trying to poison the well without putting in any real effort. Well, you got what you deserved out of that. Embarrassed again.
Keep it up.
My conclusion is that you, very unsurprisingly, don't understand the difference between correlation and causation.
I wonder if Belgium's children are even more unhealthy since they are the actual most vaccinated children in the world. Someone should check.
OH LOOK.
Overall, the report found that the top 10 rankings on the child flourishing index were the countries of:
1 Norway, ranked first overall
2 South Korea
3 Netherlands
4 France
5 Ireland
6 Denmark
7 Japan
8 Belgium
9 Iceland
10 United Kingdom

They must have given them the good vaccines.

For someone that wants the federal government reduced to nothing and claims to be a constitutional states rights guy, you sure want to crush a lot of states that govern their citizens with methods you disapprove. it’s almost like you are the site’s biggest hypocrite.
Careful now. That's a stiff competition.
