Netflix "Watch Instantly"

Netflix "Watch Instantly"

I just recently rejoined Netflix and was pleased to see they have added a "Watch Instantly" feature where you can stream a movie over the internet. The selection of movies/shows is subpar, but it's free baby! Well, free as in no extra charge. You can watch 1 hour for every dollar/month your subscription is and it doesn't affect your queued/shipped movies at all. Minuses are that you have to be running Windows and Internet Explorer, but the quality is great! I have a garbage laptop, but it looks the same as a DVD to me and it hasn't skipped/paused/hiccuped once so far.

Looks like a bunch of Apple shows that I enjoyed are being renewed for another season: Drops of God, Acapulco, Presumed Innocent, Slow Horses, Sugar, Bad Monkey. There are many others being renewed as well, but I either quit them or didn't watch. I have a bad habit of watching a good show like Dark Matter and forgetting to pay attention. Then I wind up dropping it instead of starting over. This happened with Disclaimer and many other shows. Now I'm trying to watch Dexter, hoping it's good enough.

Did not know there would be more seasons of Drops Of God and Sugar. Good news! Loved those two shows.

Drops of God is so good.

Really enjoyed Secret Level on Amazon. From the people that did Love Death and Robots on Netflix
15 short episodes based on video games. I never played any of the games, no need to know anything about the games to enjoy. The warhammer 40k episode is a work of art.

Severance was a really great Apple series. Season 2 is going to start in a few weeks.

Squid Game season 2 came out today. If you could believe it, I never watched season 1.

I was fully aware of it 3 years ago when it aired and saw daily high reviews about it on twitter, but for some reason I never got started and once a few weeks went by I couldn't get motivated to watch it.

So, I planned to just watch episode 1 of season 1 and then skim the rest to get the gist of it and then start season 2, but I ended up watching all of it thru 5 episodes so far. lol

Looking forward to finishing it and starting season 2.

It’s a fun show. I’m excited to watch season 2.

There’s also a reality game show designed using season 1. That’s worth a watch too.

I am halfway thru Se2 and enjoying it every bit as much as Se1.

Ep 4 of Dexter OS was a little bitter.

Although...

Yea and if you haven’t watched it just wait until March to start it so you can binge 2 seasons. I finished S1 today…

I’m really enjoying the Night Manager. I can’t believe I didn’t watch it when it was released given I’m a huge Le Carre fan. I have read the novel but it was long enough ago that I can’t remember all of it

Season 2 was pretty bad imo, but I had to watch it to the end.

I agree. The beginning was boring, the middle was decent, the ending was boring and predictable.

They definitely fluffed it up to do 2 shorter seasons instead of 1 with a few more episodes.

Seems like season 2 mostly setup the next one. Hopefully season 3 will be better.

That's exactly what I thought as well, although I mostly enjoyed season 2 overall. I can never remember their names but 456 and 001/Front-Man both did a tremendous job with their acting.

Thanos annoyed the crap out of me, but I was kind of sad to see him go.

I didn't quite understand why the dude that went back to get the magazines didn't follow through. Was he just having some sort of PTSD or something else?

did you guys watch it dubbed? The first episodes are pretty good if you keep korean on. On dubs, you lose the whole essence of it. Koreans are super funny/weird/quirky and it doesnt carry through dubs. Anytime koreans insult each other, i am happy. Brings me back to the "Big Bet" universe that i loved.

scenes with the old woman are super annoying tho.

the dude that went back was a fake marine, they hint throughout the season that hes just a lil boy that likes to pretend. His tattoo is fake. Remember when he hides it quickly?

I have the same issue but apple tv is putting out some bangers lately. Super addicted to some of the titles you mentioned. Pressumed Innoncent was well done

Dexter will be in full swing now.

For any cheapskates that don't have Apple+, its free this weekend, entire catalog, I thought I saw Friday also, but this shows just Sat and Sun.

Might finally binge watch Ted Lasso

Don’t waste your time, that show blows.

Yea, I hope he is saying that because he has already watched all the other good stuff on there, Tedd Lasso is the most overrated show anywhere.

Don’t waste your time, that show blows.

as someone who can't stand it when a show based in the real world has zero to do with reality and had every reason in the world to hate that show for that reason

it still had a lot of charm and was fun to watch for the most part

the main problem is they follow the "and then" storyline

and everything is deux ex machina - nothing is earned, everything is just bestowed upon and granted

i also hated how they never dealt with any of the realities of managing a soccer team - which i understand was not the focus, but they still made it fundamental to plotlines but with an imaginary world where there was little to no turnover, everyone is happy with their contracts and instead of a team of zero education millionaires who never knew anything beyond their youth soccer academies you get very thoughtful, articulate, educated and above all humble players instead of a typical locker room of all young millionaires all wanting to be the next michael jordan

Apparently the actor that played Thanos was a rapper IRL by the name of T.O.P.

Also, a cool little touch from S2 I'll admit to not noticing...

When the front man keeps failing the spinning top game, it's because he's using his opposite (right) hand. We know he's left handed from S1 when he uses his left hand to shoot his brother. It's only when he switches to spinning the top with his left hand that he's able to win the game.
