Codenames for Suckers

Anyone (preferably who hasn't played in ages/ever and sucks at it like myself) fancy a game of Codenames?

Or regulars if

Yeah, it’s be two and run the list. I guess square and sled work, I don’t see anything else.

Square
Sled
Hole
Cuckoo
Bed

The only other consideration is if he’s trying to connect three because two + list only gets us to seven. He might be stretching to close it out here, given that reds are three away and have already been clued nine words (could be some overlaps, but still).

Optimal play here under normal circumstances might even be running the list and passing, with square/sled as the list. That way we’re not at risk of gifting anything to red. But, in this instance, we might not be getting a third turn if we pass.

I think I’ve talked myself into going for a third park word. And I’d lean jam at this point, for traffic jam. Unfortunately, jam is at the top of their list.

If you want to go for the win, I’m fine with you bolding the five words above. We’re always guessing those five. If you’re considering passing, then I’m only good with the list being bolded and then we let’s discuss strategy.

I think we should go for the win. If that's the right move then the 3rd word is a stretch like you said. Werewolf perhaps?

Why werewolf?

Wolves can be found in parks. It's a really weak connection but we're looking for a weak connection I think.

I like Jam just as much though for the reasons you said.

Jam could also be small perhaps. Lots of things jammed into a small space.

Good point. I think I’m good for us to bold the lead five. Let’s see where we are after that.

Square
Sled
Hole
Cuckoo
Bed

Square

Options are:

1). No more words clued to us and we're meant to pass now.

2). There's another park word

3). Our backup small list was right for the wrong reasons and there's a small word left

Cowboy
Dryer
Hood
Jam
Joan of Arc
Mother
Octopus
Roll
Soldier
Tuxedo
Werewolf

Remaining list

I cant imagine it being #1. If eb had confidence they’d struggle next turn, I think he would’ve clued us our stranded word this turn as an unlimited to clear the list and then fired park - 2 next turn if we got there.

Cowboy - park (national park, ranch)
Dryer - neither
Hood - park (car connection)
Jam - small (in a jam/tight spot), park (traffic jam)
Joan of Arc - small (she was a young girl)
Mother - neither
Octopus - small (some octopuses are small)
Roll - neither
Soldier - neither
Tuxedo - neither
Werewolf - neither for me, but you thought maybe park

I hate guessing jam, but it’s easily the best hit for me in this spot. Passing just seems so wrong.

I'm not really seeing anything different to your analysis tbh. You bold up whichever one you feel most strongly about.

Bump

We might literally have only been clued five words at this point. Starting to feel like passing.

Do you think red have been clued all 9? There's definitely some leftovers (at least 1) and a new 2 clue will likely win it for them.

If we couldn't win this turn would unlimited be the play? Or was our list too good to pass up on?

I have nfi. I still think eb wants us to go for it. I just hate bolding jam when it’s next on their list. But I don’t see anything else nearly as compelling for small or park.

I had typed up a while breakdown, including what I thought their remaining words are. But I dumped it when I started thinking about passing.

Let’s just rip the band aid off.

Small Soldiers is out because of the no capital letter I think

I went back and checked to see if we’d mentioned any other words that maybe eb was pointing us back to. This is the only word mentioned that hasn’t already been cleared.

But this is day five of this turn. We need to bold something.

I have faith in you

Bold something and I back you 100% even if it's pass.
