2024 Fantasy Football Thread
Welcome to the 2024 fantasy season, where I'm officially addicted to best ball. I've been drafting since the end of Jan
That’s wild. DK drafters love their QBs. Burrow has been falling to the late 5/6th on UD.
What's funny is the draft I'm in now the guy at 1 got Chase/Burrow. It's too bad the rest of his roster is ****
Chase/Allen/Jacobs/Burrow/Kittle to start.
The guy at 2 pulled DJM and Odunze 10 spots each. I'd be tempted to draft Caleb just to eff with him lol
Not sure if I was supposed to take the value on Kelce or take Pollard/BRob/Warren as my RB3
Mahomes, Trevor, AR
Jeanty, Breece, Charb, Spears, Wright, ETN
BTJ, Worthy, Addison, Meyers, Pittman, Hollywood, MWill, AD
Kelce, Kmet, Fannin
I still think
Ward
Shadeur
Carter
Hunter
ETA: Giants could actually still add one of the QBs if they like them enough. Only $14.5 guaranteed total for Jameis and Russ.
Definitely possible, but I think there’s enough out there to think the nfl hates Shaddeur haha
I would guess it’s
Ward
Carter
Hunter
OL/Tet
Stroud, Penix, Geno
C Brown, Henderson, Javonte, Sampson, Harvey, B Smith
Nabers, D Smith, Addison, Golden, Mooney, Kirk, Ayomanor, Bech, Tucker
Bowers, Arroyo
Was stuck between Theo Johnson and Tucker at the end, felt like getting the Geno dbl was worth it , even though arroyo as te2 is pretty light even w Bowers
One of the more smooth drafts I've been in recently. Helped that 4 of the other drafters were on Autodraft.
Dak, Tua, Trevor
Jacobs, Mixon, KW, Javonte, Wright, Hill
Lamb, AJB, Addison, Reed, Burden, NWI, Gabe, Robinson
Jonnu, Loveland, Strange
Really like this one
Kyler, Love, Shaddeur
Saquon, Kamara, Javonte, Dowdle, Lloyd, Blue
Tee, Rashee, Tet, Meyers, Shaheed, Doubs, Ayomanor, Bech, M Wilson
McBride, Njoku
Y'all are smashing it. Meanwhile, I'm drowning in slows trying to pick when I have an occasional free minute. April 15th will be a glorious day with tax season ending, the IRL draft on the horizon and then the start of the real draft season.
I still have 45 big boards to join and don't really want to be joining slows past tomorrow. 4/10 is when clocks dwindle to 4 hours during the non-overnight period. 4/17 is when they go down to 1 hour. It's a tough balance between staying on pace with contest fill rate and not having a ton of time for fasts. But I also want to have some fast drafts in the chamber for the next few weeks, plus the days after tax season ends when I won't be working.
67% filled and about a 1% per day fill rate, give or take. So I'm guessing it'll take up until the few days before the draft to fill. I think last year it filled the weekend before. Worst case, I don't hit the full 150. Part of the reason I wanted to max both the BB and LB is to lessen the number of drafts I need to do from May-Aug, while also hitting my goal of 750-1k.
Pulled Nabers up by 2 spots when I realized I only had 1%
Mahomes, Darnold, Russ
Jacobs, Walker, BRob, Mason, Guerendo
Nabers, London, Worthy, Kupp, Kirk, Pierce, NWI, TeSlaa, Felton
Andrews, Pitts, Strange
Is it as hard to get rookies on UD? In this last draft I was in, there were 28 rookies taken in the first 17 rounds.
Only 3 were taken past their ADP.
6 were taken a full round early.
It's not too bad, though, UD already prices a lot of them up.
Any thoughts on Tai Felton? Doesn't look like he put up outstanding numbers in college, but his measurables at the combine are comparable to Reek's measurables at his pro day.
Weight
Tai - 183
Reek - 185
Height
Tai - 6'1
Reek - 5'10
40
Tai - 4.37s
Reek - 4.29s
10 yd split
Tai - 1.51s
Reek - 1.50s
Vertical Jump
Tai - 39.5"
Reek - 40.5"
Broad Jump
Tai - 10'10"
Reek - 10'9"
0 interest in best ball, he’s gonna be a 5-7th rd pick
I thought for sure that was going to be Reek when I opened it.
wtf that would've been way better. I guess it's easy to forget he was a 5th round pick
Anyways I may try to get up to around 5% on Felton for now, and then readjust depending on where he lands and how he looks in camp.
Josh, Dak
Hampton, Conner, Pollard, ETN, Wright, Corum, Gordon
Lamb, Wilson, Flowers, Shakir, Coleman, Palmer, Iosivas, Felton
Kraft, Ferguson, Arroyo
I've taken a little bit of Felton, but I've mostly been very underweight on the receivers I expect to go day 3. Usually the super athletic bad production guys never work out, but even if he gives you one or two spike weeks somewhere, it can be enough at his cost. It's easier to take those flyers in 20 rounds instead of 18, as I rarely do 7 WR builds in 20 but I'll have a lot once we're back to 18. And especially with this RB class, I'm either even or overweight almost every single RB rookie. Plenty won't work out, but I want to be exposed to those that do.
I never thought I'd say this, but I'm sick of getting picks in the top half of the first lol. I'm overweight Chase, Saquon, Bijan, and Gibbs. I've even been taking some JJ and CD over the RBs. I always take Chase at 1.01. I saw Chase go 1.02 for one of the few times in a draft yesterday. It's also causing me to have to be a little creative at the 2/3 and 4/5 turns to avoid too many of the same combos.
Yeah I've only been taking Felton if he's my last pick. At 5% now so I'm good with that for now. Even if he were to get popular, I doubt he'd become too expensive or hard to get.
I'm 12% Chase, 10% Barkely, 9% Bijan, and 6% Gibbs.
Got up to 17% Lamb, but I decided I want to try to cap my exposure to players in the first 2 rounds to about 15%
15-16% seems reasonable if you're that confident on someone in the first round. I rarely exceed 16% for anyone, but I'm willing to push up to 20% if I like the player and price enough. Last year, I had 18% BTJ and Worthy as my highest exposures.
I want to be 8% for each in the first round, unless there is a clear fade, like Ekeler and Kelce in 2023. The first round was stout last year and is shaping up the same way this year. I'm also not going to draft much outside of ADP and let the exposure fall where it falls for the first round, so that can skew my exposures to between 6-10%, depending on pick variance.
I think that's a good idea. The only players in the first round I don't love are Puka (10%) and Henry (4%).
As far as drafting outside of ADP, my rule so far has been to not reach more than 5 spots in the first 10 rounds, and no more than 10-15 in the later part of the draft.
Which is why I've been hesitant to actually do a Chase/Tee/Burrow start because that's such a big reach for Burrow. Plus you're going to be way behind anyone that does have that stack and didn't reach for Burrow.
Not sure if this would classify as a bully TE build, but I think it was fine to stop at 2.
Purdy, Tua, Darnold
