It’s not like calling for the murder of leftists is a reoccurring theme of this subforum. If it were, then that would be different. Luciom has been rightfully shamed for expressing that impulse. Continue shaming him for that if you feel it necessary.
But that wasn’t even the post that got him banned. He was banned over some BS by someone acting out her trauma fantasy in a public space (for the umteenth time).

I won't claim telepathy, but the account was opened in 2007, the account had over 18,000 posts, the person associated with the account sent me a photo of his Italian ID over PM, and nothing in the user notes suggests the Luciom account was anything other than the user's main account, so I'm pretty comfortable with my side of the wager.

Still no comment on the fact that this 18k posts guy, who had the green "online" light next to his name, 24+ hours after his ban, would suddenly stop pouring his wisdom (in basically all fields imaginable) over us?

Someone clipped Mason's post earlier today and a few of them had a wank. Kinda weird to not just make a post here, but thats how it goes
Back when Wookie ran the forum someone compared Sarah Huckabee Sanders to ambergris (the highly valuable substance produced by sperm whales and used in perfumery) and Mat Sklansky shut the forum down for a few days and reopened it with Well Named as the mod. Many of the liberals who posted here then left and created their own splinter forum called Unstuck Politics.
Its a horrifically boring circle jerk. I'll check it out every once in a while and have never seen a single interesting point being made

As I've said before, I do like some of the people there and I enjoy some of the "non politic" threads to talk about certain things with like-minded others.
My point is there is a few people here, who seem both extraordinarily unhappy posting here and unapproving of how this place operates, yet still feel compelled to change it to their liking while using a really strange tactic of just insulting people as much as they can as their strategy or something.
When all they need to do is accept that fact that this place isn't for them and that they can simply go somewhere else. It's just better for both parties.

I'm with you on the silliness of just insulting people, but honestly, there aren't many places to go. Old school forums are sparse, and places like X and Reddit are overrun with bots and are terrible formats for having actual discussions. And I get that privately owned forums can do what they want, but it doesn't mean that what they do is good. Of all the fundamental liberal values, free speech is arguably the most important one and comprehensible outside of the legal context. Given that online forums are where most ideas are discussed these days, if the ideal isn't valued and reinforced, we might as well lose it altogether.

Sure, it's impossible to have a perfect forum for everyone. This place has a nice little mixture of lefties and righties, and a few far left and far right. And many of those are still able to argue in the same room with each other.
The problem with having a forum of only one side is that it consistently reaffirms peoples' political takes and makes it damn near impossible for those people to see where they may not be as right as they think they are. Because i think both right wingers and left wingers are dead wrong on certain issues and I think a place like this offers a better opportunity to kind of see the world from another perspective at least.
