This is probably more difficult to achieve nowadays with algorithms separating us into different realities, but yeah, there have to be some central and widely accepted values in order for a free society to not ultimately fail. An emphasis on individual freedom and tolerance seems like a reasonable starting point. From a cultural standpoint, the humanities are vastly important, but we're so far gone when it comes to those, I'm not sure it's possible to fix. There has to be an organic shift which seems unlikely to happen any time in the near future.

The only way it works is if you don’t mind stepping down from the position of privilege, and the only way that works is if there is unique value to being “on the outs” (the non privileged position).
Finally, the only way to unlock the unique value of the non privileged position is through the Non Christian identity, which requires a revival of the Christian story.
A national identity would be insufficient without the Non Christian identity.
It's greatly exagerated by a very noisy few. They do a lot of harm but they dont really represent the left.
It ois a growing problem. Sociaal media is an issue but it's an inevitable consequence of negative & managerial dominated politics rather than policy & principle based politics.
We could be arguing about what needs to change, what principles/structures underpin that change and finally what the policy is. Instead people have confused politcs with shouting at other people for what they do

It is exaggerated but not uncommon and likely a significant percentage.

It's like a ****ing cancer that attaches to any living organ that's left once it's already killed off everyone else. They came to ban you once the remaining matter were under control.
I mean, Bob couldn't control his appetite and ate his own ally by calling her a mentally ill freak simply because he couldn't get his way with one particular item.
People just need to feel validated to feel good, and in order to do that they need to control the narrative and they will sidekick their own family and friends to get what they want. You can have your echo chamber, but ffs go there.
it's been getting worse for along time. It increases polarisation (or people not policies) and that polarisation increases the bad behavior and .... until we change the cycle or democracy collapses

Actually Lou, I am among the most against-nazi accounts. A blood relative of mine survived Poland, and after liberation he wrote a wonderful memoir that every member of my entire family keeps safe.
My grandfather survived the camps as well (italian military in the balkan when we changed sides).
And he spent the like 6-9 months in the extermination side of the camps, because he refused to help them making weapons and ammunitions.

btw the Poland batallion liberated my city (it was in front when the allies entered). We have the biggest polish cemetery outside Poland iirc .
I try to go there yearly on the day you liberated us to pay respect to you guys. We will never forget.
