ICM spot - shoving ranges with lots of shorties left
Hi guys
ICM situation. 7 left. Not much info about villains...
Really surprised about jamming range HRC assigns to CO with his huge bubble factor vs BB...perhaps i was wrong creating the simulation?
I understand that CO jams pocket pairs but JTss o Q9ss looks crazy to me lol
Am i missing something here?

don't exactly know why some players in your sim have doppelgΓ€ngers - coco bubu lookalikes,
but few stacks are incorrect. especially BB with name SB is far too short.
must be a long night
Well, the simulation shows 5 players and not 7, and I'm not sure what the second image is for, because it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the situation.
But the BB can't call too widely, either, because they risk losing the chip lead to CO if they lose the hand. Even calling the BT (let alone SB or HJ) is far easier for the BB.
So the shoving hands basically either have good blockers or reasonable equity when called, sometimes both. (44 does not have good blockers, for example, but it is still ahead of the big Ax hands in the calling range. All the Ax hands have the benefit of removing an ace, a key card in the calling range, and the suited broadway hands remove big cards and have lots of ways to win when they get called.)
Something doesn't look right in that sim. The shoving range is pretty close to a chip EV range with no ICM.
Did you enter all the payout amounts for the top seven spots? That's on the right side of the screen where you set up the number of players and stuff. If you didn't enter the amounts it might just be defaulting to something like chip EV.
Also if there are 7 players left you need to enter the stacks and set up the sim with all 7 players. Then click fold for the first two players from within the sim if that's what they did. You can't just set up the table with five when the first two players folded, or it will assume there are only five players remaining and return a different result.
Also if the second screenshot is supposed to show that there were actually 34 players left with seven on your table then you need to set up a multi table sim with 34 players remaining.
unfortunately OP disappeared,
but I looked it up. been confused about the top left corner first, where seven rows of players can be seen, and some appear to have false stacks and names.
can't tell anything about OP's setup, but when it comes to its result, it looks much better.
here is a similar one from gtowiz, with few shorties, bigstack in the big, and second in chips cutoff's opening and shoving range into covering stack in the big.

compared to his 12 big shoving range in chipEV

bigs chipEV calling range

and bigs much tighter ICM calling range

so we see that shoving is fine in ICM to apply pressure, and bigstack doesn't want to risk losing chips too.
calling ranges - covered or not - can be tighter, but shoving ranges - covered or not - can still be wide.
with shoving we do not immediately risk elimination, but only if called.
big doesn't risk his tournament life with a call, but he wants to preserve his chips to keep his good position.
thus we've leverage with shoves even against covering stacks, and of course more so against covered stacks.
here is a similar simulation where the shover covers the caller.
chipEV shoving and calling ranges are similar to above (a pip tighter),
but shover's ICM range is much wider

while caller's ICM range is much tighter

things change when people deviate from above ranges.
if they call too wide, we may want to pass on the closer shoves. if they call too tight, we may want to shove even wider.
especially ICM ranges can often be so different from what people know and do.
haha not disappeared, just asian schedule....
and yeah, wrong simulation or wrong photos i posted here ....i will try to find the right ones and see what happened
BTW thanks to everybody who took their time to poit the mistake π
