77 in live low buy in deep stack turbo

Live $40 buy in. Starting stack $40000 with 10 min levels. Currently blinds are 500/1000, no ante or bb antes. Hero is effective stack with 48K approximately. Hero is CO with 77. UTG+1 opens to 2000. Hero calls, BU and BB also call. Flop is AK7r. UTG+1 checks, hero bets 5000, BU calls, all fold.

Is my line good so far? I really donÂ’t think 3-betting pre with a middle pair is good. Set mining cheap seems best. I get pretty lost in multi-way spots like this otf though.

The rest of the hand basically played itself - another A on turn, hero leads 10K, BU raised to $30K, hero (thinking BU probably 3 bets AK PF) shoves remaining 31K (41 total) and BU calls. I hesitate to even post this since itÂ’s going to come off mainly as bitching about a bad beat, but I really do have trouble with multi-way spots with big hands and how to proceed to extract value.

For the record (not that it matters) BU did not have AK, but did have an ace and hit a boat on the river to bust hero. Γ‚β€” Yeah, guess I did want to bitch a little bit πŸ˜€

Just a cooler. I probably play it exactly the same way -- maybe a little smaller (2500-3000) on the flop since the board is not strong for your range as the middle position flatter. I don't normally play turbos, so that is a wildcard for me. I suspect that in a turbo, the value of set mining goes down, so maybe we want to either raise or fold pf.

Sh1t happens.
Unlucky.

it depends. what's your opponents' thoughtsphere?

if you bet flop small, you can expect continues with QJ, QT, JT + backdoor fd stuff some of the time, and with Kx too. you'd like him to improve his Kx to two pair or trips to then stack off or loose more chips.

checking turn will usually get you to pick off valuebets of Ax and sometimes Kx, and bluffbarrels of his draws.

if you think he's passive, then continuing with big barrels yourself is better to get value from his made hands and protect against his unimproved lower equity drawing hands. he may often fold them on flop though, if he's playing around baseline. multiway continuing ranges are tighter.

if you think he did not continue with drawing hands on flop, because of his style or some other read, you may still play checkcall on turn vs his Ax and Kx part of range who may bet themselves, and then lead river, to make sure he doesn't check behind Kx.

this move is often paid off by players who I think you can expect to have as your opponents here.

if he checks behind turn, you can lead river too. he'll often pay you off with Kx, which he might not if you barrel turn, and he'll raise Ax for you to jam and get it in.

with the big bet on flop, you'll find players who will outright fold Ax.

give him a little bite, and when he feels the taste follow up with a big smack chilly cheese.

you don't have to serve the smackdown, he'll plate it himself.

The call pre looks good to me - if it goes 4,5 ways we set mine, if it goes HU or 3 way we have a chance to realize equity/bluff. Rest of the hand looks good

The flop bet should probably be smaller, like 1/4-1/3 pot. Generally we bet smaller multiway, but especially in this spot since we don't have AA, KK or AK in our range. We are pretty capped with 77 and AQ being the top of our range, but we're going to have a lot of hands like AJ and AT that don't want to pile money into the pot. Exploitatively though if they're not going to fold any ace for any price there's probably nothing wrong with betting bigger.

Too bad you got sucked out on.
