Work/life balance while crushing Mystery Battle Royales on GG

Hello guys,

I’m starting a new challenge for MBS on GGpoker.
I want to get back to 25$ and play at least 120 hours/month. This way I’ll have enough time for living a balanced life and make suficient money to pay bills and set some money aside.
Now I’m playing 10$ and I struggle with volume. I can barely make 120 h/month. Any advice is welcome.
The purpose of the challenge is to get some motivation to put in the hours, to reconnect with the poker community and to write down toughts maybe I learn something. 😊
Tilt, too many tables and bad coping mechanisms where the main reason for not putting enough work in the last year.

Played 41k games at 10$ for a total profit of 46.000$.
Played 20k games at 25$ for a total profit of 27.000$.
In total 18 months and 1800 hours
Rakeback is around 100%. Swings are brutal especially at 25$ so for the moment I prefer to play 10$ and building a plan to get back to 25$

I had a few nasty years, they say it’s middle age crisis, but I quess it’s all the unsolved **** from your life that pop up when you are full. For me it started when I had my kid, who taught me a lot about me, so I’m really thankful. It was a ride and is still going, doing a lot of mistakes, using a lot of bad crutches to cope, but I can say I can ride it better now because my awarness level is up. 😊 Did therapy and at the end of this period started meditating for 5-10 minutes and went to some holotropic breathing sessions, wich helped a lot. It doesn’t mean I’m off the hook, I do not tilt sometimes, or I’m guru/zen/namaste master. It just mean I’m better prepared and understand what’s happening with me so I don’t need to cope with unhealthy crutches.
So, now that I’m in a better spot of understanding myself, getting out of my confort zone and stop being a victim, I can say I’m ready and curious for the future.

I will also start some coaching sessions with guys playing lower levels just to see different angles and improve my game. Not to mention I want to become a better teacher for my kid and this experience will help. I also improved my skill of learning others, seeing their point and understanding without judging (still working with all of this πŸ˜ƒ).
Link to my coaching thread.

Any advice for putting more hours or anything regarding poker is much appreciated.

GL and see you at the tables!

Looks like I got some motivation to play more. 16 hours. Not going to make a habbit for this long sessions, but from time to time I ll get out of my confort zone and chase 1st place.

That is so impressive!
How can you do that?
How many years does it take to learn that!!!

Good luck! Playing poker is great because you can make your own schedule and when you are a dad you kinda need that. πŸ˜€

In gl hows the coaching going!

what volume do you have to put in to hit these top leaderboard spots? hours table count if you dont mind sharing?

Depends on the day. I played 16 hours for that 1st with 10 tables. I play around 8-11 tables and if necesary I can go up to 14, but it s not recommended. I did that in the past and lost a lot of value.

Hey,

I had a good week with some good variance.

2700$ profit (1900$ from he tables + 800$ rakeback).

27 hours played

Played more than the week before, but still struggling with the volume. This week was highly emotional, I had to process ****ing feelings from my last breakup. I'm glad I played decent and was aware of what is going on with me.
Next week I ll play 30 hours. Taking a more balanced aproach with 5-6 hours/day.

Good luck!

Just started playing these. Keen to follow this thread! Glhf.

Hello guys,

Finished the week earlier. I'm taking 4 days off to enjoy some holiday vibes.
Played only 23 hours this week. Again, I didn t play on weekend 6-10 hours and it counts. I need to play more during the weekdays or to play the same and add a 6-10 hours during weekend.

Profit was around 500-700$. I don t know exactly because they changed the rakeback during this holiday giveaway.

GL!

Hello,

December:
Hours played 98
Profit around 5500$ with rakeback.

Decent month, but hard year for me in general. I'm excited for 2026! Looks like there will be a new rakeback system on GG, I'm starting coaching and I'm ready to be consistent at the tables.

Good luck in the new year!

Hi!

I wanted to ask what would be your recomendation for bankroll on this game and also, what would be your schedule if we have 9-5 job and cannot grind for top of leaderboards until thats a friday/saturday.

300-500 buyins to be sure and relaxed. You can do it with less because of the big rakeback, but there are some periods when you need to drop in stakes if you don t have a lot of buyins.
The schedule should suit you, not changing your life because there are a few better games during some hours. Best time for me should be to play during the night and to play long session for top 3 leaderboard, but on the long run it will take a toll and actually play less.

Hello,

Decent start of the year. I added some 25$ and started coaching.

Hours played: 45
Profit: 2900$

Let's make some money!

Big gl brov.

Hello guys,

Interesting month with some stress added at the end. I played decent, but at the end I was feeling the pressure of the 3-4 weeks of downswing and of the new rakeback program. I was expecting a nasty cut, but it's almost the same, so I can't thank them enough. πŸ˜€ I lived through the rakeback change on pokerstars and it was devastating for me at that time. Let's say I was a little triggered and anxious this month.
The good part is this change made me realize I don't want to linger at 10$ for long. I'm more motivated on moving up and making more money.
I'll come with a plan in the next few days.

Real Net Won: +$2,932.83

Hours: 111.3

Real $/hour: $26.36/hr

Volume: 4,254 games

Avg buy-in: ~$13

Hello,

Looks like I need to pump up the volume a bit and keep a healthy routine.

I'm starting with 1900$ bankroll and money to live for 3 months. I want to work (play + study) 35h/week. 2-3 hours study and the rest are for playing.
When I will get to 5000$ I will play combined 25$ with 10$. As we speak, I see they changed the leaderboards with more flat payouts. If it's really easy to get the 25$ from the leadeboard, I'll play a little earlier 25$ with stop loss.

The plan is to get to the point where I can play 25$ as my main game and have more money set aside so I can be flexible with changes, when they come.

My focus is on working 35h/week and playing well. The rest will come.

GL and see you at the tables!

Hello guys,

I had a tilting half month but I managed to get back on track with the schedule and fought through that variance. I studied some spots that were postponed for a while and I improved that area.
It was tilting because I played a lot vs top range and I also lost a lot of bubble and ITM spots.

Made around 1100$ profit in total with the rakeback.
Played 55H and studied 5-7 H.

I'm content on how things that I could control went. Looking forward for the second part of the month.

GL and see you at the tables.

Final table graph

Hello guy,

Tilting month, but I got a present at the end, a 2500$ chest wich made my month a decent one.

Profit around 2800-3000$ from poker and some extra from coaching.
Hours played 98

The variance I had in the past 2 months made me have a decision about streaming, a decising i was postponing for some time.
So, after 5-6 years I will restart streaming. I'll set it up in 1-2 weeks. I'm doing this for the bigger rakeback and other perks that come along with this, not to mention I liked streaming in the past and helped me put more hours, be consistent and enjoy poker more. Let's face it, playing poker for a living is a lonely job and it doesn't work to do it as a lonely wolf, or atleast doesn't work for me.

hi!
BR grinder here, sent you a pm.

btw how did you set the FT quick filter? and is PT4 the best for BRs? just installed it today - doesn't seem to track bounties beyond the end result...?

Hello,

PT is what I have and it works. There are some other trackers and shakrscope. Watch some how to set PT videos and play with it. At FT filter you select the blind levels

Hello guys,

See you live on twitch tomorow at the happy hours. πŸ˜€

GL

Hello guys,

After 50 days and 170 hours played, I managed to make $4,400 profit. I also invested 20–30 hours setting up my Twitch, and I’m really glad I did.

Unfortunately, I had a rough weekend where I lost 100 buy-ins at the $25 level. Besides that and some other issues, I am pretty happy with how I handled everything. I feel like I’m now in a position to improve and keep moving forward.

I have to admit I’m really excited about Twitch and how supportive people have been.

The plan for the next months is to play $10 + $25 Mystery Bounties and add some hyper MTTs. Just enjoy the grind and grow the stream.

I’m also happy with how I’ve been balancing life overall—my kid, health, poker, Twitch, social life, and even dating (which definitely takes time πŸ˜€ ). Of course, I can’t be great at everything, but I feel like I’m doing well enough in the areas that matter.

From now on, every time I open GGpoker to play, I will also go live on Twitch. I’ll be online 5–6 days a week, usually in the mornings and afternoons.

If you guys have any feedback or tips on how I can improve my stream—technical or otherwise—I would really appreciate it. Feel free to be honest and direct, even if it sounds harsh—it helps. You can message me here or on Discord: suleaspataru

My next big challenge over the next 2–3 years is to buy an apartment entirely from poker winnings. Let’s go!!!

Thanks a lot! See you at the tables and live!

Subbed! Gl man.
