Of course, no one defends Bill Clinton. He has been out of office for 25 years and is irrelevant to current politics. If Clinton was the current President, Dems would defend him just like Trumpers are now, IMO. Democrats did not exactly hold Clinton accountable when he was the sitting President and had his scandal.

While there is some truth to this (e.g., some defended Biden's creepy hair sniffing), you can't compare the defense of of hiding/dismissing a blowie by a 22-year-old intern to hiding/dismissing the possible raping of kids. I think it's pretty clear there is a far larger portion of MAGA that is willing to defend Trump on anything than Democrats are willing to if this had been a Democrat president in office.

The irony is MAGA was going on about drag queens, gays, trans, etc., for years, talking about how children are vulnerable and precious and how they are being groomed by an entire political party of pedos with food order code words, yet they have no issues with the largest child sex trafficker being moved into a country club prison, possible pardon, and are scrambling to defend Trump's involvement and coverup.

So yeah, I agree that both sides do it to comical degrees. What I disagree with is that staunch Democrats, or even staunch Republicans, as much as they would defend their candidate to extreme degrees, they all have a line where they would have to drop support. I think trafficking/raping kids would be a line any reasonable partisan would not try and defend, but MAGA are not reasonable partisans; they are a literal cult.

Calling them a “cult” suggests that they’ve been brainwashed or have somehow lost the ability to reason and think for themselves. That they’ve been manipulated into being something they’re not.

MAGA is a cult. There are plenty of republicans who vote republican because they are single issue voters on abortion, as an example. They aren’t necessarily MAGA and aren’t necessarily in the maga cult but are possibly in a religious cult

There's a giant proportion of people who don't really follow politics and will vote their party no matter what and I believe the republicans have many more of those than the democrats.

Yeah some of those farmers who voted for trump again after he crushed their business in his first term definitely look like they put little thought into things.

I think most of organizations that are called cults are getting people to think and act like they want them to nt because they are experts in brainwashing or persuading but rather because they tend to accept people into their circle people who are often not accepted elsewhere. If to get that acceptance they need to stop doing their own analysis of things, they consider ir a small price to pay.

Clinton was known as a cooze hound well before 1998. it was an issue during his campaign. and Dems are still running cover and defending him today. UP is having struggle sessions about him this very week.

The issue was that he was a womanizer, not a child sex abuser. He may very well be a child sex abuser, but that wasn't the reputation going into the election.

The youngest woman in his scandals with women was 22 (Lewinsky). Most of them were around his age or up to about 10 years younger (10 years younger than him when he was in his 40's when the contact occurred) with the exception of Lewinsky.

I didn't say that Democrat supporters are better/moral than Republican supporters; I said they (both Democrat and Republican supporters) are better/moral than MAGA because MAGA is a literal cult by objective standards and will defend Trump on anything - case in point: anything Epstein.

There are Trump voters (partisan Republicans) that just want Vance to take over because they can't in good conscience defend a pedo. MAGA, on the other hand, do not care because they worship one dude and even want MAGA to splinter off into their own party.

I didn't make it up. But some are using this term to refer to the "America First" crowd that is a lot of the energy behind this. Like the woke left, they lean heavily into identity politics, victim narratives and conspiratorial nonsense; so term seems to fit well.

Woke Reich another term I think works well.
