The over use of "lol" in forum conversations.

There is one particular forum where nearly everyone way over uses the "lol" but I won't mention any names. Are people actually laughing out loud in these situations? If so then carry on. Whenever I see "lol" used I feel like this how 16 year old girls would talk to each other via text. My theory is that in some forums there is a group think that develops where participants mimic what others do. This particular forum I am speaking about is extremely clique and kind of cult like. I don't see people using "lol" nearly as much in other forums. I'm on a sports forum outside of here and I don't think I have ever seen a person write "lol".

Are there any psychologists in here who might have any insight to this phenomenon?

When people point at the ingredients they're asking for when ordering at Subway or somewhere similar. I doubt they need your help figuring out which container is the lettuce.

This is silly. Sometimes it's hard to hear so pointing out what you want makes perfect sense.

Older folks use lol as semantic glue like I went to the store and they were out of bread lol. It doesn't mean you are laughing out loud.

Younger people wouldn't use lol there, they would use an emoji or something.

The Cotton Bowl being played at JerryWorld instead of at The Cotton Bowl

Is this limited to the Cotton Bowl, or are you made at the Orange Bowl, too?

Wasn't the Orange Bowl (stadium) demolished?

That makes sense because I think there are a lot of really old people in that particular thread.

Thanks!

Sugar Bowl?

people who say lol in irl - instead of laughing - yes that's a thing with some people

I didn't know about the Orange Bowl, I'm local to the Cotton Bowl, but yeah, now I'm mad at them too. Thanks a lot.

It's as if Katrina would have hit New Orleans the very first year the Sugar Bowl moved to the Superdome from Tulane Stadium lol

When eating chips & dip you reach into a bag for a chip and nearly always grab the end of the chip that you would rather use to scoop the dip.

should piss me off: these things are still around
did not get close enough to check if the crush velvet seats were in a pyramidal pattern scheme

"Top performing" consultants can choose between the pink Cadillac XT5 or XT6, or cash option of $900 a month.[27][28] The specific qualifications for earning the car depend upon the country, and vehicle that is desired. If those qualifications are not met, then the consultant has to pay for a portion of the lease of the car for that month. Meeting the qualifications entitles the consultant to pay no monthly lease and 85% of the car insurance, or a pre-determined cash compensation award.[29][non-primary source needed] In 2011, a solid black Ford Mustang was introduced as an incentive.[30] In 2014, a black BMW was introduced in its place, although the pink Cadillac remains the top reward for those consultants whose units purchase over $100,000 or more of MK products at wholesale cost in a year.[31]

but, when you're pointing, you aren't noticing the sweat pouring off of their head into the lettuce...

food expiration dates, and how they usually don't mean a damn thing, other than to get you to throw out perfectly okay food and spend more $$$

Backing into parking spaces becoming more mainstream

This should piss you off.

When teams on 4th down and 4 or less to go try to draw the defense offside. I get the strategy but success rate must be 1% or so.

When people don't understand freerolls.

Yeah, the people who were slow to catch on seem to finally be catching on.

In a nutshell, I can back into my parking spot more quickly and safely than you can back out of yours.

Much higher chance of impeding traffic flow when backing in than backing out. It’s a selfish decision that doesn’t even really help you in any way.

Inb4, “But I drive a truck and it’s easier…” **** off, you’re already douche by driving a truck.

There's a higher chance of impeding traffic because so many people have no business backing in, even though it's the superior way to park.

San Francisco playing the opening bit of Thunderstruck (I think) before each defensive third down.

Also, the black uniforms they wore last night. Bleah.
