White Sox sign “Mune”. Elite Japanese slugger.
He could’ve signed anywhere.
I guess he really likes deep dish pizza.

I read that some teams didn't like his contact rate. He's also going to play 1b and not 3rd.
He took fewer years at a higher yearly salary, probably to set up a bigger offer in 2 years.
Wat?
LAS VEGAS -- The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has denied the A's request to trademark the names "Las Vegas Athletics" and "Vegas Athletics."
The club, which intends to move to Nevada in 2028, has three months from when the refusals were issued Dec. 29 to ask for an extension to file a new application within a six-month period.
The A's were told the nickname "Athletics" was too generic and could be confused with other activities even if associated with Las Vegas.
I thought the Vegas A's should be the Knives.
The Vegas Dice
Vegas Rounders
Las Vegas Aces
Oh wait.....
Black Knights.
That’s how my first Vegas trips in my early 20’s went, anyways.

Cubs are rumored to be close to a deal with Miami for Edwin Cabrera.
The signings are just flying here in Jays land today, lol.
No contract yet, but the Phillies are supposed to be the favorite for Bo Bichette. I'm not sure why they are going that way with Aiden Miller likely to be called up in ~1 year. I would have thought that Kyle Tucker would be a better fit.
I mean
What the **** are we even doing anymore
I think this is where I arrive at the crossroads of whether baseball is still worth watching
King Tuck to the Doyers! Yikes - the champs get even better.
While some might be less than thrilled, I on the other hand am excited to see if skill can triumph over luck.
Probably still the massive favorite to land skubal in exchange for nothing that matters
250/5 for this ****ing guy was already obscenity
Doyers just having a laugh while paying Othani 1 million next year saying ‘watch us **** **** up’
They’re absolutely gonna get skubal too

if David Stern was alive (RIP) and was the baseball commissioner he'd veto this signing, citing "Baseball Reasons".
I'm really disappointed in Steve Cohen also. Do I even bother going to Mets games? They're going to go like 78-84 and have a super pissed off Juan Soto.
Lose Tucker and now Bichette, not good for Jays. Bo really hated Toronto for some reason cause he easily could have signed for that here.
Interesting commentary on the MLB finanical situation.

You pay a lot for people's primes. These longer term contracts that aren't real, where someone is being paid until they are 40, are really just ways to string out a players worth in their actual prime. Most of those contracts will be paid to players, no longer in the game, or end of the bench guys.
Passan: Baseball fans believe the game has become unfair:
Looks like MLB owners will need to become socialist, just like the other major sports team owners have in order to compete. Always found it fascinating that capitalist owners institute socialist rules, in order to compete and have some degree of fairness and competition in the league.
