I'm saying it was good D. You said it was thrown 12-18 inches away from target. I said if it were thrown 12-18 inches left then its intercepted.
The throw was maybe a foot from perfect. It still likely gets broken up with good D. The pass would have ended up near the WR left armpit and chest. A foot right it ends up on the WR right side but Gonzales probably breaks it up anyway. Any throw wider than that risks a tip and an INT.
I concede it was not a perfect throw.

This is called "wide ass open" in the NFL. Sam Darnold can't hit it but we've known that forever. Putting the ball on the WR's back shoulder here is a terrible miss with that much open field.
