New fast food discussion/review thread

OK OOT, it's been a while since we had a devoted fast food thread around here and I think it's time we had a new one.

Gimme two dollars worth and back up!

I mauled a Sausage Egg & Cheese from Dunkin this morning. Was greasy and delicious as usual!

I love those Dunkin breakfast sandwiches. Underrated part of their menu.

medium iced coffee (yes i get ice coffee even in the winter because im a bad ass) is $4.69 plus tax. $5 meal deal with medium iced coffee, $5+tax

Dave has got a deal on Singles on the day after Valentine's Day. Only a $1 on Singles Awareness Day (which I always thought was actual VD, but what do I know?) Only thru the Wendy's App.

pretty sure vd can contribute to singleness.

Can also indicate the opposite, I guess.

"Must have been a dirty toilet seat, honey! I swear!"

A trip to the data center (cold and loud), deserves a stop at Portillo's, before Spring Training starts and the place becomes infested with Cubs fans.

Big Burger Bundle no pic no onion, ffdp to drink, add sm chez sauce. $12.09 and totally worth it!

While I have yet to make it to spring training, I am one of those Cubs fans you mention.....

Portillo's is bucking the trend. Two self serv soda banks on the customer side. They always allowed refills, you to just had to ask. Easier now.

Went to spring training many years ago (~late 80s?).

Saw Cubs/Brewers. Quite a commotion when I went up to use the bathroom. Turned out Harry Caray was in there between innings. Of course, everyone (including myself) stopped him to say hi. Don't imagine he got back to the booth in time for the next inning.

Also don't imagine the modern stadiums are quite so intimate.

Cubs (newish) spring training facility is maybe a mile (practically next door) due east of this Portillo's.

Also, beer!

do you dip the burger in the cheese sauce?
looks epic

I'm pretty sure I would dip everything in the general vicinity in the cheese sauce, burger, fries, body parts, napkins, passers by, whatever.

I've been to Portillo's a handful of times since one opened near me and I keep getting a hot dog or two with just mustard and a pickle. Boring, I know. But the bun is always so good and something about the crunch of the pickle instead of the usual relish does it for me. I do enjoy the fries and cheese sauce as well.

pretend portillos trend as portends announcing cub success
not quite the goat but close and a wiser bud for it

Their chili is really good, too

LOL

"I'd ****in' shower in that ****."

My Portillo's top five:

Italian Beef w/Mozz and Hot Giardiniera dipped
Chicago Hotdog
Chocolate Cake
Chopped Salad w/house dressing
Italian Sausage

Sounds like I need a Portillo's near me. :p And they serve beer!

Also need crowd source help. Been racking my brain and doing searches and can't find what I'm looking for. Seems like it was something something Cantina but I'm striking out.

There was a fast food Mexican chain that was popular in the 90s that had pretty good food. They had a drive thru, but if you dined in, they served margaritas and beer. Seems like they had TVs and was a precursor to a Chipotle type restaurant since you could customize your burritos. Just checked and Texas didn't pass their open container law until 2001. So I probably got margaritas and beer at the drive thru. No wonder I liked it.

Edit: just tried Ai and Taco Cabana seems to be correct. Guess I don't remember them having a drive thru but most do.

I liked Tia's Tex Mex. Pretty sure the location in Grapevine did not have a drive thru. Also appears they closed in 2006 after filing chapter 7 bankruptcy.

Only been to Rosa's once when they opened a location in Colleyville. Don't remember them serving alcohol at the time and the food was not forgettable in a bad way. Never been back. If I ever think about going to the one in Abilene, I remember there is a Fuzzy's Taco Shop nearby which is 10 times better.

Was definitely thinking of Taco Cabana. Next time I'm in DFW I'm definitely going to renew my love. There's a location in Denton not far from Robson Ranch.

Taco Cabana and Dos Pesos merged in the late '80s or early '90s. They were very similar and IIRC owned by cousins or something who had a bitter falling out. I much preferred Dos Pesos and their 99c margaritas. They did have drive-thrus.

at eleven this morning i am self door dashing off to kfc to fetch two spicy clucker breast sandos for under a saw buck out the drive thru window

yet another rugrat having no tmz worthy video snips
but that local franchisee is bringing the fresh hot heat

Problem is ive accrued enough chipotle points for a free entree.

Id rather not eat there again. Since they are banned by McMuffin.

I guess I could walk in and ask someone if they want a free entree. But thats just type weird.

Yeah, that's Diesel weird.

Maybe you could trade freebies with someone else for food you want.
