USA Goes to War Against Iran
Time for a dedicated thread to the war.
How long will it last and what will be the probable outcome?
Iran was already a failed state
Since weβre in this mess it seems the only way to retain our position in the Middle East is to commit to this war, which is not something that there is a stomach for domestically, either through popular or political will. They want to thread the needle on that by maintaining US presence through an international coalition of European powers, but our promises are not worth the pap
Weβve been in this mess for 47 years. We finally have a President who is doing something about it. The fact that we will possibly have a weak Democrat President after Trump is precisely the reason this war is necessary now.

Loooololol
Must elect Trump because he is precisely the reason there will be no war with Iran.
Spoiler
lol

Weak vs strong narratives... fun.
I listened to a podcast interview of Al Gore yesterday. He was quoting Lenin, Thomas Paine, Habermas, etc... speaking intelligently about a wide array of issues. And I kid you not, right after listening to that on my run, I open headline news and there's an article about how Trump went on a rant for 5+ minutes about his sharpie in a cabinet meeting.
Do you think Trump would even know who any of those people above are?
A non-starter for me personally is any politician that divides American's against themselves and is clearly unintelligent / a non-reader. Either of those two is a disqualifier for me. I don't care if they are left, right, center, or upside down.
In a sane world, I'd hope it would be a disqualifier for everyone else as well.
You're not talking in terms of economics proper. You're talking in terms of Modern Monetary Theory, which has as much to do with the actual economy (Gross Domestic "Product") as math does to physics. People don't eat bonds and money. Or just because housing prices double doesn't mean the food supply for the termites living in them doubles too. That's their balance sheet problem
wtf is with calling them "termites"?
I never really had you pegged as a fiscal conservative stressed about the debt. The Iran debacle is a terrible move, but the debt is going to $50 trillion and beyond whether or not attacking Iran happened.
Neither party has the stomach to meaningfully tackle that issue.
I'm not stressed about the debt; I'm concerned for the future. If you have or are planning on having kids, then this should concern you, too.
Having the debt increase by $10 trillion in 6 years is way different than doing it in 2 years.
You don't see it that way because to you it's just an imaginary number because it has no impact on your life so who cares. Trump just may change that if he collapses the US dollar. Not seeing that as a real possibility (i.e., mongi, Dunyan, etc) is the same kind of hubris that has caused all other empires to collapse.
Well what do you expect when you fire a bunch of the people who were experts on the ME. I’m not really sure what’s embarrassing though. That we can’t bomb a bunch of religious fanatics back to the Stone Age because they were already there?
Anyone with half a brain could have guessed that. Trump jsut can’t help saying ridiculous things and screwing **** up.
Amazing how these stone age people have built weapons that run rings around the best defence systems on the planet.
I take a break from these threads for a day or so and when I come back I completely understand why people in the ME and further afield want to see the US obliterated.
Well a lot of people in the ME care more about destroying America than providing a working society for their families so I don’t put much stock into that.
Iβm guessing Likhud has wanted this war for a long time and i doing it under Trump and this novice cabinet was the best shot of making it a US war.
Like wow a bunch of uneducated people who’ve been exposed to extreme levels of anti-American propaganda their entire lives don’t like America?
You calling people watching the US tear the ME apart propagandised is the end game in irony.
Iran is actually the one launching missiles all over the ME.
Also lol the IRGC just killed more of its own citizens than America ever has.
We've had this discussion before. I'm no fan of the IRGC or a lot of the people in charge in the ME. Not even close. However, I strongly believe that if the United States hadn't been trying to force our will on almost every country over there the last 50 or more years, the situation would not be nearly as bad now. And, we are doing it again.

Lol at these takes.
Launch thousands of missiles at a country and they reciprocate, "Nah, brah, they're the ones launching missiles."
"Nah, brah, we need to intervene with every country that harms their own citizens and if that comes at the expense of American lives, then who cares."

You can’t even understand my takes. Is this Victors brother or something? Iran is launching rockets at civilian infrastructure all over the ME. Sure we can call that reciprocating lol.

Only a special kind of stupid would deny this in 2026.

Doylebootlicker doesn't think a country should be upset when America overtakes their country, to steal their resources, and therefore should be exterminated 70 years later.
