How long will it last and what will be the probable outcome?
I think if you follow the right people and maintain a critical eye then its not that hard to figure what is going on pretty accurately. nothing is 100% ofc.
certainly easier than in 1968 when people had to comb through newspapers and try to decide what is true or not about things like Vietnam. take for instance My Lai. it was a scandal when it was revealed like a year later. but the Americans were doing stuff like My Lai every day all over the country.
now we see in real time and hear from victims what the Empire is doing. thats why people like to denigrate social media. it makes Israel look bad.
Seems like to rescue 2 airmen we lost 2 transport aircraft and had at least 1 Apache and F-15 damaged (on top of the plane that was downed the airmen ejected from). It is a great story the airmen were rescued, but going to take a lot of spin to turn that into any sort of victory.
I just read about the rescue in the NYT and they could 100% make it into a movie. It's like a mix of Behind Enemy Lines and Lone Survivor except without any casualties.
So you are still confident the IRGC holds all the cards, will force everyone else to bend to their will, and the petrodollar and US power in the Middle East are dead?
Well they definitely hold all the cards which is why we see the US trying for a cease fire and Iran rejecting it.
Whether or not the West bends to their will is dependent on the West's willingness to fight WWIII or not. But the straight of Hormuz now belongs to Iran and they will be charging tolls for it and we're already seeing countries buying their oil in Yuan.

The pilots flying the F-15s are very well aware they are flying planes designed in the 1970s, and are at increased risk of being shot down because their planes have older tech.
Fighter pilots are all very experienced commissioned officers. It takes a lot of training to be a F-15 pilot. They know the risks and willingly signed up for the job anyways.
Believe it or not planes being shot down in wars is the norm, even for the US. Such a tiny number of Israeli and American jets being shot down in this current conflict is a historical aberration, which we should be thankful for. And hope continues for as long as the conflict lasts.

Considering the amount of dictatorships America has propped up over the years, even if within the context of the Cold War, you can't really take the moral high ground route with any justification.
You can condemn the Iranian regime and also be against American aggression.
