How long will it last and what will be the probable outcome?

From a recent CBC news summary...

However, the terms of the ceasefire are under dispute.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Wednesday that the agreement would not halt Israel’s campaign in Lebanon.

Likewise, U.S. President Donald Trump told PBS News that Lebanon is not part of the ceasefire "because of Hezbollah" but will "get taken care of."

Asked if he was OK with Israel's continued strikes, Trump said "That's a separate skirmish," PBS News Hour's Liz Landers said in a post on X following the interview.

Their comments contradict Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who said the agreement includes a total cessation of hostilities, specifically naming Lebanon.

Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian reportedly told Pakistan's prime minister that a ceasefire in Lebanon is an "essential condition" in the framework of the 10-point agreement with the United States, according to Iranian media.

By Wednesday afternoon, Tehran had announced it would again close the Strait of Hormuz in response to Israel's attacks on Lebanon, Iranian state media reports said.

Would it be fair to said that Israel is not a fan of the ceasefire and would like to see it fail??

Israel has their own agenda, this is a huge win for them. Their economy has been ****ed for 2+ years now, what do they care if the straight stays closed for a few more months? They're going to pounce while hez's benefactor is weakened and there is nothing Trump can do about it.

When Obama was president we didn't have this problem.

But we had infinity refugees from nations he allowed the IRGC to destabilize.

Trade offs.

We did not have "infinite refugees." Also, immigration isn't actually a problem for those of us who aren't dumbfuck racists like yourself.

How are you so active and opinionated on middle eastern affairs, despite having little knowledge or interest in basic facts.

You feel no shame at all over your willful ignorance?

Lol. Don’t think you should be asking anyone about the lack of shame.

do a literal 5 minute ai google search im not wasting anymore time on your type. bases being hit prove nothing. destroyed is not the term i would use tho. because 5-10% still do hit. One number we can trust tho is the 15 us casualties. this is an incredibly small number if 13 military bases have been "destroyed" This is the best evidence we have that your just full of it

Neither you nor me have been there to see the real stuff. I have seen reports, that the 13 American bases in the region have been destroyed. I also have seen reports that 80% of rockets go through. Obv can't confirm any of that, but the US displaying desire for a ceasefire is quite telling. Regarding casualties, I fear you will learn that there are some more than you think!

Most people who complain about immigrants invading the USA, live in towns and “cities” with small populations that hardly ever interact with immigrants at any level.

Wonder how many are in this thread?

Lebanon’s Minister of Social Affairs, Haneed Sayed, in an interview with The Associated Press condemned Israel’s wide range of strikes, calling it a “very dangerous turning point.”

“These hits are now at the heart of Beirut … Half of the sheltered (internally displaced people) are in Beirut in this area,” she said, adding that she had just driven by areas hit.

She said Lebanon’s government is ready to enter into negotiations with Israel for an end to hostilities, an offer that the Lebanese president previously made. Israel has not responded. “There are calls and efforts being made as we speak,” Sayed said.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun called the Israeli attacks “barbaric.” Lebanon’s health ministry said that along with the 112 killed, at least 837 were wounded, warning that this is not the final count.

Israel’s military said it had targeted missile launchers, command centers and intelligence infrastructure. It accused Hezbollah fighters of trying to “blend into” non-Shiite Muslim areas beyond their traditional strongholds.

Residents and local officials denied that the buildings hit were military sites.

I agree. Their internet was off before the war, and they've basically dismantled it. So the regime's priorities are going to refocus internally as they murder a million or more regime dissenters on the way to their lasting or final solution. It's going to be a nightmare for the Iranian people.

There have already been reports that the regime is using the war as cover to conduct executions but westerners don’t care about brown people dying if it’s at the hands of other brown people.

If you want to say that Trump's actual intentions were just to bomb civilian infrastructure, fine. I probably agree with you. But any argument that this is the most natural interpretation of the actual words he used is absolute horseshit. The actual words he used were the language of genocide.

Really? Because I assumed the same as moving target. People who immediately jumped to nukes when they read Trump’s statement need to get off the internet for a bit and touch grass.

by Rococo m

Blaming Trump's behavior on Netanyahu is ridiculous. I'm sure Netanyahu wanted Trump to start a war with Iran. I'm sure he encouraged Trump to start a war with Iran. But Israel has never been in a position to give the United States orders. The Trump administration bears full responsibility for this decision.

Good to finally hear someone else besides the usual suspects voicing this opinion. The people who are singularly obsessed with Israel’s influence on Trump are being incredibly myopic and ignoring a large amount of context.

I didn't say anything about nuclear weapons. And I didn't say that I expected Trump to end Iranian civilization (or try to end Iranian civilization) simply because he said he would on social media.

I did say that talking about ending civilizations is the language of genocide, which it most certainly is.

Are these “reports” from anything or anyone credible or are they those saw it on tik tok kind of reports?

Pretty sure it was a WSJ article that called the bases "largely uninhabitable". The US made it hard to access satellite data for us to see for ourselves the extent of the damage.

I would guess they are largely uninhabitable because of threat rather than extant damage but it is extremely amusing that these military bases have no capacity to defend themselves whatsoever.

They do of course but on day 1 of the war Iran started knocking out the early warning radars.

and Israel gets priority on the interceptors

and Israel gets priority on the interceptors

it is a shame those perform so poorly against cluster munitions

In the 2021 Canadian census, people of South Asian origin were the largest ethnocultural group in xxxxxxxx—accounting for 52.4% of the population. The remaining groups included those of European (18.9%), Black (13.1%), Filipino (3.2%), Latin American (2.1%), Southeast Asian (1.4%), Chinese (1.1%), West Asian (1.1%), and Arab (1%) ancestry.[46] The city is ethnically diverse with approximately 60% of Brampton's residents being foreign-born.

netanyahu leading trump by the nose doesn't in any way absolve trump of blame.

so maybe rococo does agree with you or maybe he just doesn't confuse influence on trump with trump not being to blame for what he does

Nonsense. it's another reason not to start ridiculous wars.

This war was not done in some great cause to help the people of iran. We should help them as much as we can but it's hard and slow politics. Nnot making things much worse for them is a good place to start.

by DoyleBrunsonFan m

People who immediately jumped to nukes when they read Trump’s statement need to get off the internet for a bit and touch grass.

Totally agree with you on this.

J.d. just said there were THREE, count 'em, three ten point proposals. That's 30 points of proposals. No wonder this is going so well.

By my count, trump achieved exactly zero of the objectives he stated when he started bombing.

by biggerboat m

War won on day 1. Total and complete regime change. Nuclear capabilities destroyed for the second time in 10 months. More dead Iranians.

Sounds like a great success all around!

The bolded. Doyle shouldn't interpret my criticism of Trump as an implicit endorsement of Netanyahu.
