USA Goes to War Against Iran

Time for a dedicated thread to the war.

How long will it last and what will be the probable outcome?

nuking Iran tells the world that it's time to start using nukes

it will absolutely not save lives on the whole

In the scenario where we thought 100k us soldiers would die it would.

by Elway m

The same way you know that going to war with Iran is a mistake.

I believe it is a mistake. But I hope you are right and I am wrong.

by King Spew m

Seems so. Saving USA#1 lives is way more important. So nuke the world.

t_d's post not-hitting the mark at all, mong?

It seems rather trivial that people would value their own people over others.

Nuking the world was never brought up. I think using nukes would be a mistake. Within the context of the question I would choose using a nuke if I knew it would save 100k American lives. The deeper ramifications of this dilemma are beyond the scope of this forum.

Why?

LOL.

Honestly WAY more than 100K Americans die when nukes are used during a ramp up of all countries (that can) lobbing missiles.

deeper ramifications..... lol, you lose.

Remember when trump campaigned on no more wars and elway and his fellow bootlickers said "yeah, the no war president"?

Good times

β€œWell, I expect to be bombing because I think that’s a better attitude to go in with,” Trump said in an interview on CNBC on Tuesday morning. β€œBut we’re ready to go. I mean, the military is raring to go. They are absolutely incredible.”

by Elway m

Also, we’ve helped our great ally Israel out.

You clearly don’t have an understanding of geopolitics.

Israel is not actually an ally of the United States. There is no treaty in place and the US has no bases in Israel. Nor is there an intelligence sharing agreement like Five Eyes. There are arms sales, which make Israel a client state, but, given its curiously close relationship with the Kremlin, it's quite a dubious one, and there's probably a reason why previous US presidents didn't fall in with Israeli plans to attack Iran.

lol what

The United States and Israel have signed multiple bilateral defense cooperation agreements, to include: a Mutual Defense Assistance Agreement (1952); a General Security of Information Agreement (1982); a Mutual Logistics Support Agreement (1991); and a Status of Forces Agreement (1994).

Since 2011, the United States has also invested more than $8 million in Conventional Weapons Destruction programs in the West Bank to improve regional and human security through the survey and clearance of undisputed minefields. Following years of negotiations with the Palestinians and Israelis, humanitarian mine action activities began in April 2014 – this represents the first humanitarian clearance of landmine contamination in nearly five decades.

Israel has been designated as a U.S. Major Non-NATO Ally under U.S. law. This status provides foreign partners with certain benefits in the areas of defense trade and security cooperation and is a powerful symbol of their close relationship with the United States. Consistent with statutory requirements, it is the policy of the United States to help Israel preserve its QME, or its ability to counter and defeat any credible conventional military threat from any individual state or possible coalition of states or from non-state actors, while sustaining minimal damages and casualties. This requires a quadrennial report to Congress, for arms transfers that are required to be Congressionally notified, and a determination that individual arms transfers to the region will not adversely affect Israel’s QME.

Yeah. Client state.

I suspect this war ends tonight. The US has all the leverage. The Iranians have had an opportunity to walk freely during this cease fire around the country to see just how badly they have been hit. If no deal is reached they will get pounded again. This time bridges and their power grid. The blockade will continue.

Good thing I had nothing to lose.

I suspect you simply regurgitate fox news propaganda because... well, it's all you have really.

Somehow, thirteen years on, you're still unable to form an opinion about Sandy Hook. Yeah, you "need to look into it more," something you've inexplicably been unable to tackle within the last decade. I wouldn't say your opinions on recent events hold much weight. Get back to us in 2040.

I suspect you're ******ed.

TACO Tuesday....... Again..

lol idiot mongi

Well that's probably a de facto end to it.

by jalfrezi m

It seems the US has time on their side. Iran does not. They are losing millions everyday. If Taco wants to postpone wrecking Iran a few days he can do that. This war is effectively over. Something must be in the works and more time is needed.

Also, why do you say Mongi?

by John21 m

Well that's probably a de facto end to it.

Yeah, sure. I'm also sure we'll be hearing the same bullshit from you in July when Trump still can't wash his hands of this without looking like a complete and utter moron.

by Land O Lakes m

We'll see but the 60 day Presidential War Powers Resolution expires on 5/1. So rather than just blocking the Dems the Reps will need to vote to basically declare war on Iran. They might just wash his hands of this for him.

And if Trump continues the conflict without a formal declaration, which governing body do you think is going to hold him accountable?

One of the two other branches.

by John21 m

One of the two other branches.

You mean the two that lets Trump break laws? Yeah, okay...

But let's be real - Congress will approve it.

by biggerboat m

I never said that. I have mostly been anti Trump since 2020.

by Land O Lakes m

I don't think they'll approve it or an AUMF but they could just keep blocking the Dems. It wouldn't be the first time this has happened. I was mostly just responding to what you were saying about Trump looking for an off ramp and that would be one. Since he hasn't set a deadline and only threatened to blow up Iran once today, he might be done with it. Plus I can't really see the Strait staying closed for months.

You really do notice when staffers and AI writes Trump's posts for him.
